Aren arrived at the court which was at the centre of the city. There was a crowd gathering around the building as if everyone was waiting for his judgement. He was guided into the building but all he could think about was how grand the structure was for a building that only served one purpose.
"Don't they think that maybe all the details is a bit .. dramatic. It have taken decades to finish" he thought to himself.
They finally arrived at the main structure. It had a giant door leading into it with guards guarding it at both sides. One of the escorts gestured at the guards. Then the doors blew open.
"In you go sir" the escorts said.
Aren walked towards the centre of the room. It was a circular room with a large seat opposite to the entrance doors.
"Well let's get it over with" he whispered to himself. He looked around the room and saw people who looked like nobles. Some of them where clad in jewels all over their bodies.
Then a man appeared behind the chair and sat on it . A woman with her face covered by a white cloth walked to the side of the chair. "We are gathered here to present the case of Aren Viremont" she said.
She then proceeded to open a scroll and started reading the contents of it. "The accused allegedly concpirated with the terrorist group known as Ashen Hand that has been terrorising the North eastern region of the continent" she read.
"What the hell? I don't remember doing that" Aren thought to himself.
The man on the large grandiose chair then spoke "now then the evidence gathered from a witness statement says that you where seen communicating with some suspicious figures on the fourteenth, is this true?"
"I don't remember..." Aren said. This is what he was worried about. With no memories to defend himself with he couldn't convince them otherwise.
"How convenient" the man laughed. "The accused suddenly lost their memories so we can't prosecute them" he said his voice echoing through the chamber.
Murmurs among the nobles who bore witness to the absurdity of what they were witnessing started to ripple among the chamber.
"Well even so how could you prove it with just a few witness statements made by anonymous reviewers" Aren said. This was a good claim and the opinion quickly shifted in his favour.
"That isn't our only form of evidence for example we have deciphered coded letters that were sent from your backwards village" he replied . And so he was back at square one.
"But that doesn't make sense ..why would they have my location on them if they were coded" Aren replied.
" Then we shall present our last piece of evidence"the man said lifting his arms up.
"Deploy the clairvoyance magic" as soon as he said that a clear image of Aren talking with a shady figure lit up the chamber .
This was it. Aren could only watch as one single image collapsed his life in real time. Even though he had tried to use logic over reasoning he was met with steel hard evidence.
"Now then does the accused have any more excuses that will end up delaying the inevitable" he said.
One of the nobles shouted "I wouldn't expect more from a common scum I mean look at his eyes.. who do you know has two different eye colours"
Then the man said "now we may proceed with the sentencing..."
"For the crime of conspiring with the terrorist group known as Ashen Hand you are hereby sentenced to exile"...
