Chapter 5 - Home

Max, Luna, and Hana walked across the wide empty field that Mr. D had reluctantly allowed them to use. The area sat just far enough away from the main cabins that it wouldn't disturb the other campers, though it was still within the protection of the camp's magical borders.

Max crouched down and pulled the Base Seed from his inventory.

It looked deceptively simple—a small glowing seed about the size of a marble. Yet even from a glance, it radiated a faint, ancient energy.

"Well," Max said, holding it between two fingers. "Here goes nothing."

He pushed the seed into the soil.

For a moment… nothing happened.

Then the ground trembled.

Roots burst outward beneath the surface, spreading through the earth with impossible speed. The soil bulged and shifted as something enormous forced its way upward.

Within seconds, a massive tree erupted from the ground.

It was enormous—far larger than any normal tree. Its trunk alone was wider than most houses, and its branches spread high into the air like a living tower.

But the most surprising part was its structure.

Doors.

Windows.

Balconies.

The trunk had been hollowed out and shaped into what looked like a two-story house, cleverly disguised as part of the tree itself. Wooden stairways wrapped around parts of the trunk, while small glowing runes shimmered faintly along the bark.

Max raised his left hand and activated his glove's scanner.

A display appeared in front of his eyes.

Base of Yggdrasil (Legendary)

Description:

A hollowed branch of the World Tree, designed to serve as a secure living base.

Perks:

• Advanced Anti-Magic Barrier

• World-Durable Walls

• Magic Jamming Field

• Spirit Helpers

• Boosted Recovery Aura

• Portal Gate Network

• Dimensional Storage Support

• Adaptive Environmental Control

• Auto-Restocking Kitchen

• Defensive Rune System

And many more…

Max stared at the list.

"…Okay."

He lowered his hand slowly.

"That might be the best thing I got from the gacha."

The Anti-Magic Barrier and Magic Jamming immediately stood out. Those two perks alone would prevent gods or powerful beings from spying on the inside of the house—or teleporting directly inside.

The Spirit Helpers were apparently small mindless nature spirits that automatically maintained the structure. Cleaning, repairs, upkeep—everything handled quietly in the background.

And the Auto-Stocking Kitchen meant the house would always contain food tailored to the owner's preferences.

Max scratched his chin thoughtfully.

"Sadly it can't generate enchanted food," he muttered. "So I can't stay on Dionysus' good side forever unless I get ridiculously lucky."

Behind him, Luna and Hana were staring up at the giant tree house in disbelief.

"…Max," Luna said slowly.

"You just spawned a legendary world-tree house in the middle of camp."

Max shrugged.

"Technically it's a branch."

Unfortunately, the massive tree had already begun attracting attention from nearby campers.

Several demigods were pointing and whispering from across the fields.

"Oh no you don't," Luna said quickly.

She grabbed Max by the arm.

"Inside. Now."

Hana helped shove him toward the door before too many people could come investigate.

Thankfully, the house had one more security feature.

Only people Max personally permitted could enter.

The moment they stepped inside, the door sealed behind them with a soft magical pulse.

The interior was even more impressive than the outside.

The inside of the tree had been transformed into a fully furnished home. The walls curved naturally with the shape of the trunk, giving the rooms a warm, organic feel.

Yet everything was modern.

Comfortable couches.

Large televisions.

Gaming systems.

Computers.

Bookshelves.

Even climate control.

All powered by subtle magical systems hidden within the walls.

The Magic Jamming Field also meant electronics wouldn't attract monsters the way demigod technology normally did.

Max whistled softly.

"Okay, this place is amazing."

Luna dropped onto one of the couches and stretched.

"Ahh…"

She closed her eyes.

"This feels so much better."

Max glanced at her.

"Better than what?"

Luna opened one eye slightly.

"In our old world… remember?"

Max's expression softened.

Back in their previous life, Luna's body had been badly damaged. Years of abuse from her parents had left both physical and mental scars.

To survive, her mind had fractured.

Hana had been born as a second personality.

The two of them had literally become best friends inside the same body.

Even heavy medications couldn't truly fix it.

But now…

Now their new polymer bodies were perfect.

Healthy.

Strong.

No pain.

No medication dulling their minds.

They could finally live normally.

Max leaned back against the couch.

"You know," he said casually, "this place might also just have the best stuff possible."

He pointed at the wall.

"That's an eighty-inch TV."

Then toward the kitchen.

"And that kitchen is fully stocked."

At that moment, Hana opened the refrigerator.

Her eyes lit up immediately.

"Oh my gods."

She began pulling out food with alarming speed.

"You guys have to see this!"

Max laughed.

"Already raiding the fridge?"

Hana shrugged.

"Our bodies incinerate most food anyway."

She tossed a snack into her mouth.

"But we still love the taste."

"And the feeling of eating," Luna added.

The three of them spent the next several minutes exploring their new home.

Hana explored the first floor, poking through cabinets and drawers.

Luna climbed upstairs to investigate the second floor bedrooms.

Max headed toward the basement.

When he opened the door, he stopped in surprise.

The basement was enormous.

Much larger than it should have been.

The space stretched out like a massive underground vault—easily the size of a warehouse.

Clearly the interior used some kind of dimensional expansion magic.

Then a new screen appeared in front of him.

Connect Inventory to Vault?

YES / NO

Bonus Storage Features Available

Max raised an eyebrow.

"…Interesting."

He selected YES.

Immediately, the room lit up.

Rows of shelves appeared along the walls.

The items from his gacha inventory were neatly organized into containers and display cases.

But that wasn't the surprising part.

Suddenly—

Weapons began appearing.

One after another.

Hundreds of them.

Swords.

Spears.

Armor.

Artifacts.

Every Noble Phantasm tied to his Fate abilities had materialized here in sealed form, arranged along the vault walls like a legendary armory.

Even sealed, the items radiated incredible power.

Max stared around the room.

"…Yeah."

"This is definitely staying locked."

Satisfied, he returned upstairs.

The girls were already lounging on the couch.

Both of them looked incredibly pleased with their new home.

Max sat down beside them.

"Good news," he said.

"Vault confirmed."

Hana raised a hand in victory.

"Yes!"

Max glanced outside through the window.

"Chiron isn't here yet."

Luna tilted her head.

"So Percy probably hasn't arrived at camp yet either."

Max nodded.

"Looks like we're early."

Hana suddenly stood up.

"Movie time!"

She walked into the kitchen and returned with a massive bowl of buttery popcorn.

Within minutes they were all sitting on the couch watching a movie together.

For a while, Max just enjoyed the moment.

Laughing.

Relaxing.

Being with them again.

In their previous life, Luna and Hana had suffered enough.

Max silently promised himself something.

This time…

He would protect them.

No matter what.

Eventually, Hana spoke again.

"So…"

Max looked over.

She smiled mischievously.

"Let's talk about who else we're adding to this family of ours."

Max immediately choked on his popcorn.

"…WHAT?"
