Chapter 4 - Core

An hour had been added since they first arrived. The two now sat around a camp fire within the clearing. The mouth to a cave sitting a few metres from them.

The two of them ate a jerky and rice meal prepared by the teacher. He crafted two bowls from a tree for them to eat out of.

Munir's eyes look up into the clouds still in a shocked daze about there being multiple layers of clouds. The bowl he ate was completely cleaned out.

"I'm surprised that the government would lie to us about something like this"

"Well the Aurorian government have a history of lies they don't want people to know"

"Hm, I guess this world is still affected by the past"

This statement is based on a common saying of the current world being unaffected by the previous world's sins.

"Ok let's start with your lesson"

Alexander clapped his hands together, placing his bowl on the floor.

"Listen here, when people awaken a portion of their soul becomes accessible to them, allowing them to draw in anima. This is known as a soul core. Using this soul core you can enhance one's self and draw out the powers of a medium"

"…"

"That's most likely the reason your one isn't responding to you yet. Now normally you would just have to train to your limits but seeing that your body is already in peak condition it should be easier as I could just force one to form"

"Force one?"

"In most cases people either slowly go through the stages of a soul core. With rare case there are some able to form a higher stage of a core or complete ones when they first get the hang of it"

"So what were you"

"Of course I was a great case forming a complete ones when I first interacted with anima"

A smug smirk flashed on the teacher's face with the reveal of his amazing accomplishment.

"As there's high amounts of anima up here as well it's going to be even easier it should just take you a month"

"A MONTH"

"Hmmm, did you think just cause you got talent that you would get it extremely quick"

"Well yeah"

This meagre attempt to reply wouldn't have hit normal ears but landed on his teachers. Munir's fingers made a swirling motion in the air as if he was a damsel at the sad news of his long training routine ahead of him.

"Don't be to sad if your talent is truly great you can do it in less time"

With that Munir's will burned bright once more.

"Let's get to it now then"

"Ok, just turn around and have your back face me, I'm going to flood your body with power. Also don't open your eyes the info flooding to your mind would be too much."

His tanned olive skin dripped with sweat, each bead travelling down his relaxed body.

A hand firmly placed on his back. It poured in a stream of Anima throughout his entire body.

The boy's body tensed up with the new sensation crossing him.

He wanted to open his eyes but the previous words by his teacher stopped him.

Munir tried to stop the thoughts rushing around his head.

He focused on the sensation, the feeling it gave him.

As he did he felt it becoming more clear.

The Anima that he had witnessed before became more clear when entering him, it becoming more defined.

However before he could grasp it. He felt something pull him away.

His eyes flew open.

All the thoughts in his mind ceased.

As a wave of all new senses flooded Munir's mind.

The world around him seemed so clear now, sounds that were never heard before became like bands of singers screeching in his ears. Every insect that impeached on the man-made clearing looked as if they were under a microscope.

He grabbed his head in pain, his soft navy curls escaping between the gaps in his fingers.

A nauseating feeling swept over him, just before hIs dinner sat in front of him, its half digested contents looking back at him in anger.

"Eww, don't get that on me. It didn't hurt too much. This method is quite aggressive."

"N..aah, it was alright"

"Good job then kid, your talent is really showing you skipped the first stage entirely and are already on the second stage. That puts us right on course for it only taking one month."

"R..eally"

Coming with the words Munir uttered came another wave of puke.

"Wait so if i didnt skip the first stage i would be up here for longer."

Alexander leaped back with that creating some space from him and the puke.

"Dont worry about all of that. Let me tell you more about the stages. The first stage of the soul core is shape formation, you have already completed that with my assistance and now are on the second stage where you can now draw a stream of anima out in bursts"

"It has a shape"

"You probably can't sense it fully yet but, think of soul cores as a window or portal to your soul as anima exists on a higher plane of existence than us we have to use our souls to draw it in and manipulate it. For this we have to allow a 'window' to take shape within us. This is the first stage."

"I see"

Munir's hand was placed on his chin, a serious expression being worn as if it was that of a scholar, this newly found stern look faced Alexander telling him that nothing was inferred by the boy.

"All you need to know is that now you can draw anima into your body through your soul's core. It might take a while however. Easiest way to speed it up is through meditation"

"Uh, you gonna make me puke again"

As the sun began to set upon the peak. The beasts of the land retreated into slumber, the anima in the air taking on a calmer presence.

Munir, that entire night sat in meditation, the glowing flow of anima pouring into his body. Only once the first rays of sun hit the ground did he succumb to fatigue.

His master sat up, as if waiting for the boy to sleep. He glanced at the boy's now still body. Lifting him up he placed I'm into the cave placing a blanket on top of him he laid a letter beside him before exiting the cave.

"This gonna be a hard challenge for you kid, but I know you're gonna pass it."
