Chapter 37 - Chapter 37: See You Tomorrow

Inside Bianka's personal room...

"Regarding the question of my original identity, I have found out some things in this one month. First, this is my very distinct personal characteristic, white hair and blue eyes. This is a very symbolic feature throughout Schicksal, which means I am a member of the Kaslana family."

"And when I first met Overseer Otto, I had a strong feeling of rejection and hostility in my heart. This proves that before I lost my memory, I, or rather my parents, had a conflict in stance with the Overseer. I followed this clue and investigated it. Currently, only one member of the Kaslana family has defected from Schicksal."

"Siegfried Kaslana. His wife was the strongest S-rank Valkyrie of Schicksal in recent years, but she died in the Second Honkai War in order to defeat the Second Herrscher. Her name was Cecilia Schariac. Also, although this news was intentionally concealed, there are still some records on the internet. Relying on my appearance and some communication, I learned from some old staff in the logistics department of Schicksal Headquarters that Mr. Siegfried and Ms. Cecilia had a daughter."

Speaking of this, Bianka took a deep breath and said, "I should be their daughter, the girl named Kiana Kaslana."

"Have you thought about going to find your father?"

"...I don't know. I don't know how to face him. In fact, up to now, this is just a guess. I haven't gone to Overseer Otto to ask for photos from that time, nor have I verified this answer."

"Even though that might be the answer, I really cannot remember anything from the past. Looking at the photos of Mr. Siegfried and Ms. Cecilia, as their daughter, I should feel something, but I feel nothing at all. It is not even as strong as the hostility I felt when I saw Overseer Otto. At least that counts as being moved. It cannot be that the impression Overseer Otto left on me is deeper than that of my own parents, can it? That would be far too absurd."

"It is hard to say. Back then, I only mended the damage to your physical body. I did not truly reverse your physical condition in a literal sense. No one knows the extent of the memory loss caused by the damage to your brain. It is possible that the memories regarding your parents have been completely forgotten by you."

Bianka nodded, though there was no look of loneliness on her face. She smiled and said, "It is okay. As long as I become Schicksal's strongest Valkyrie, then even Mr. Siegfried, who has defected and is outside, will be able to get information about me. At that time, if I really am their daughter, he will definitely come to find me."

"Furthermore, I do not know why Mr. Siegfried has a conflict with Overseer Otto or why he even defected. But no matter which side I want to stand on, or how I want to interfere in this matter, power is indispensable. Right now, I am not strong enough. I cannot yet do what I want to do or refuse what I do not want to do. Only by possessing enough power will someone be willing to sit down and talk with me."

Looking at the current Bianka, Caelus truly felt as if he had raised a child. He still remembered that fragile girl he had held in his arms in the snow, and he remembered the way she used to hide behind him, shivering with fear.

The current Bianka, from her appearance, already looked like a girl of fourteen or fifteen. The overflowing confidence and serious expression on her face truly gave off the feeling that the child had grown up.

"You're right, Bianka. No matter what kind of involvements or conspiracies are within it, if one does not have enough power, then even knowing the truth will only bring futile worry and pain."

"Mhm. Caelus, can you tell me more stories from your past? I want to hear more stories about those heroes in the Holy Grail War."

"Alright."

Caelus opened his book and began to recount stories of the past.

Unknowingly, Bianka had already fallen asleep. Caelus stopped his storytelling and looked at Bianka, who fell asleep every night while listening to his stories.

He gently laid her down on the bed, removed her shoes and socks, and then softly covered her with the quilt.

The lights went out, the curtains were silently drawn, and Caelus opened the door and walked out of the room.

Until the door was closed, throughout this entire process, not a single sound was made.

During this month at Schicksal Headquarters, Caelus did not, as Otto had guessed, constantly wander around every corner trying to find something interesting. Instead, he spent all day immersed in the library reading books. Moreover, he was not reading various scientific knowledge or philosophical books, but rather various mythological biographies and even all kinds of novels.

Caelus's life was very monotonous. Every day he was either accompanying Bianka in her activities or immersed in the library reading. If she had not dragged him to eat with her every day, this guy might have even forgotten to eat.

Furthermore, after a month of observation, Otto also discovered that during this month, the other party had not gone to the restroom at all. Let alone the excretory behavior of normal biological beings, he had not even washed his face or taken a bath. Yet there were no odors or stains on his body, as if he were a transcendent being untouched by the dust of the world.

Although Otto had been observing for the past two years, because the interference received when observing Caelus remotely through various devices was unexpectedly high, much of the information was incomplete. It was not as detailed as the information gained from close range observation this month.

Time quickly reached the last day.

When they were about to part, Bianka looked at Caelus with some reluctance, but she did not ask him to stay. She simply said with a smile, "The next time we meet, I will definitely be a big girl taller than you. When that time comes, I am going to pat your head."

"Mhm. When that time comes, I will also tell you some new stories."

"We must meet again."

"We will meet again. Perhaps in the near future, when you return from a day of training or a mission, you will see some uninvited guest sitting in your room flipping through a book."

"You have never been an uninvited guest."

Saying this, Bianka took out a key from her clothes and handed it to Caelus, saying, "To me, you are never an uninvited guest."

Caelus glanced at the key, reached out to take it, and put it away. Then he extended his hand, and above his palm floated a card that was brilliantly colored yet appeared extremely illusory.

This was a bootleg light cone he had forged using the energy of the Path of Remembrance, modeled after his own Holy Grail light cone. Inside it were the memories of the Holy Grail and Lancelot, as well as the existence known as King Arthur from the mythological records of the Type-Moon World.

"This is a parting gift. In accordance with our promise back then, I give it to you. May you leave your own brilliant mark upon this world."

Bianka took the brilliant card, her eyes seemingly flashing with light. The card suddenly shattered into countless spots of light that merged into her body. Subsequently, her hair actually took on a golden hue.

She could feel her body accepting the existence known as King Arthur from another universe. Her physical strength, energy control, combat techniques, and the ceiling of her talent were all expanded in every aspect.

She could feel that now, under the same intensity and duration of hard training, if the result of her past training was 1, then now it would be 3.

"May we meet again tomorrow in the future, the future strongest Valkyrie of Schicksal."

Caelus vanished before Bianka like a gust of wind, just as he had come silently and left without a trace.

She placed her hand over her heart, feeling the heart that continued to beat because of someone's rescue. The corners of her mouth curled up as she looked in the direction the wind had departed and said,

"See you tomorrow, traveler who journeys through the world, and... my most important person."
