After the revelation that his friend Adrian was, in fact, Alucard, Trevor couldn't sleep properly. As soon as morning came, he went straight to speak with his grandfather during breakfast.
"Why didn't you tell me Adrian was Alucard?"
His grandfather raised an eyebrow, surprised, and calmly replied,
"So, he decided to tell you. Well… it wasn't my secret to reveal."
Noticing that this didn't satisfy Trevor, he continued,
"Look, he's been helping our family for a long time. One of the few things he asked was that we wouldn't reveal his identity. He's lived for many years and simply wants to remain discreet. Don't be upset about it. In fact, be glad he trusts you enough to tell you who he is."
Trevor fell silent for a moment, reflecting, then nodded.
"You're right… One more thing, Grandpa. He gave me this ring before he left."
Trevor took the ring off his finger and showed it.
"Hm… I don't recognize it, but if Alucard gave it to you, it's certainly not ordinary. Still, it shouldn't be dangerous."
"Alright, thanks, Grandpa."
From then on, Trevor kept wearing the ring, only taking it off during training with Mr. Hans or when taking a shower. He didn't feel anything different, but even so, he liked the object—whether it was magical or not.
After that, everything went on as usual… until January 2011.
Trevor had the habit of checking the news from Beacon Hills every few months—usually at the beginning of each month—but this time he had delayed because of the year-end festivities at the mansion.
When he accessed the town's news website, two headlines caught his attention.
The first spoke of a deer found dead in the Beacon Hills preserve, marked with a strange spiral symbol on its body.
The second was even worse: the body of a woman, cut in half, had been found in the woods.
That was when Trevor understood.
The first season had begun.
He had no time left.
With a heavy heart, he quickly came up with an excuse and headed to his grandfather's office.
Knock knock.
"Come in."
Trevor opened the door, walked in, and sat down in front of the desk.
"Is everything alright, Trevor? Do you need something?"
"I… need to talk to you."
Lucius removed his glasses and looked at him attentively.
"Then speak. What happened?"
"I need to go back to the United States. I had a dream… and I need to go."
"What? What are you talking about? A dream? Are you alright?"
Lucius stood up, clearly worried.
"I'm fine, Grandpa. But… I saw something. And I know I have to go."
"Go back where? Boston?"
"No… California. Beacon Hills. I need to get there as soon as possible."
Lucius frowned, confused.
"Why? Did something happen there?"
"No. But I saw it… Beacon Hills is going to become the center of many events. A beacon for the supernatural."
Trevor paused before continuing,
"I need to go. It's a Belmont's duty to protect those who can't protect themselves. And… it'll be good for me too. To have a normal school life… make friends. I miss that."
Lucius fell silent, pacing back and forth.
"I need to think."
Trevor simply nodded and left.
Back in his room, he began packing his things. That was when he realized how much he had accumulated over the years. It would be hard to leave the mansion… but his decision was already made.
Hours later, Lucius entered the room and looked at the suitcases.
"I see you've already made up your mind."
Trevor met his grandfather's gaze.
"I have."
Lucius sighed.
"I won't say I understand… or that I like this crazy decision. But I trust you."
Trevor felt immediate relief.
"I've already spoken to some friends. The Argents are living there. They'll keep an eye on you for me."
"Babysitters? Seriously?"
"Don't make that face. I said I'd help you—but on my terms."
"Alright…"
"I also bought a house near theirs. It's not luxurious, but it has everything you need. And mind your manners when you have dinner there."
Trevor nodded.
"Oh, and you're already enrolled in school. You start Monday. And I don't want to see your grades dropping just because you're away."
Lucius paused before continuing, his voice lower,
"I also want to give you something."
He left the room and returned shortly after, holding an object.
Trevor's eyes widened immediately.
"Wait… why do you have that?"
"Because when you're far away, I won't be there to protect you."
He took a deep breath.
"I won't fail you… like I failed your mother."
Trevor remained silent.
"You're going to need this. And it wouldn't be the first time a Belmont your age has carried this responsibility."
Lucius raised the object.
"This is the Vampire Killer. The whip passed down through generations in our family."
He extended his hand.
"And now… it's your turn to carry that legacy."
