Chapter 22: The Frozen Path to the North
After the chilling encounter in the Library of Eternal Souls, the Alpha and the Omega knew they couldn't stay in the Sanctuary any longer. Their only hope was the legendary Sun-Stone, hidden deep within the treacherous Frozen Peaks of the North.
"The path ahead is not for the faint of heart," the Alpha warned as they reached the base of the mountains. The wind was a howling beast, carrying a cold so sharp it felt like needles against their skin. The Omega pulled her cloak tighter, but the white light glowing within her chest provided a warmth that no fire could match.
As they climbed higher, the blizzard intensified, turning the world into a blinding wall of white. Every step was a struggle against the drifting snow and the thin mountain air.
"Don't let go of my hand!" the Omega cried out, her voice nearly swallowed by the gale.
The Alpha gripped her hand with a strength that promised safety. "I swore an oath to protect you. Not even the frozen heart of this world will take you from me".
But as they reached a narrow ridge, a sound echoed from the heights—a low, rhythmic thud that wasn't the wind. It was the sound of something ancient and heavy waking up.
Shadows moved within the storm—the Frost Walkers, the undying guardians of the Sun-Stone, were closing in. They were trapped between a sheer cliff and a line of icy monsters, with only their bond and a fading light to guide them.
