Chapter 52: The Traitor's Shadow
The air in the Alpha's study was no longer cold with hatred, but heavy with a new kind of tension—the kind that comes before a storm. Silas stood by the fireplace, the orange flames reflecting in his golden eyes. For the first time in five years, those eyes weren't looking at Elara with disdain, but with a fierce, protective fire.
"They played us both, Elara," Silas said, his voice a low, dangerous rumble. "They made me believe you were the one who leaked the pack's secrets to the Northern Rogues. While I was busy punishing you, the real traitor was sitting right at my council table."
Elara felt a chill run down her spine. The pain of the last few years was still there, a dull ache in her soul, but the revelation had sparked something else: a thirst for justice. "Who was it, Silas? Who hated me enough to destroy my life?"
Silas turned, his jaw clenched tight. "It doesn't matter who they were. What matters is who they are now. They think you are still the 'Broken Omega'—weak, shattered, and easy to discard. They have no idea that I know the truth."
He walked toward her, his heavy footsteps echoing on the stone floor. He stopped right in front of her, his shadow towering over her small frame. But this time, Elara didn't flinch. She looked up, meeting his gaze with a newfound strength.
"The council meeting is in an hour," Silas continued, reaching out to rest a hand on her shoulder. His touch was warm, solid, and for the first time, it felt like an anchor. "You will walk into that room by my side. Not as an Omega, but as my guest. I want to see the blood drain from their faces when they realize their game is over."
Elara took a deep breath. She knew that walking into that room was like walking into a den of vipers. But as she looked at Silas, she realized she wasn't alone anymore.
"I'm not the same girl they broke, Silas," she whispered, her eyes glowing with a faint, silvery light—a spark of her true power finally returning. "If they want a war, I'll give them one."
Silas let out a dark, predatory smirk. "That's my girl. Let's show them what happens when you wake a sleeping wolf."
