Chapter 53: The Council's Verdict
The Great Hall of the Silver Moon Pack was filled with a tense, heavy silence. The high-ranking council members sat around the circular stone table, their faces etched with arrogance and hidden agendas. They were discussing the pack's fading borders, unaware that the real threat was already inside the room.
Suddenly, the heavy oak doors swung open with a resounding bang.
Alpha Silas walked in, his presence radiating a cold, lethal authority that made several elders jump in their seats. But it wasn't Silas who drew their breath away—it was the woman walking right beside him.
Elara.
She wasn't looking at the floor anymore. She held her head high, her gaze sharp and unwavering. The whispers started immediately, buzzing like a nest of disturbed hornets.
"Alpha, what is the meaning of this?" Elder Marcus stammered, his face turning a sickly shade of grey. "Why is this... this Omega in the sacred hall?"
Silas reached the head of the table and placed his hands flat on the stone surface, leaning forward until he was face-to-face with Marcus. "She isn't here as an Omega, Marcus. She is here as a witness."
A cold sweat broke out on Marcus's forehead. "A witness to what?"
"To the night the Northern Rogues breached our defenses five years ago," Silas growled, his golden eyes beginning to glow with a terrifying light. "To the night a traitor handed over the maps and framed an innocent girl to cover their tracks."
The room went ice cold. Elara stepped forward, her voice ringing out clear and strong. "I remember everything now. I remember the scent of the wolf who met the Rogues by the river. I remember the ring on their finger."
She pointed a steady finger directly at Elder Marcus. "It was you."
Chaos erupted. Marcus lunged for a hidden blade, but Silas was faster. In a blur of movement, the Alpha had the elder pinned against the wall by his throat.
"The verdict is death, Marcus," Silas whispered, his voice vibrating with a promise of pain. "But first, you will tell me everything."
Elara watched as the man who had ruined her life crumbled. The 'Broken Omega' was gone. In her place stood a queen in the making.
