Chapter 73: The Celestial Bond
The Void-Walker moved like a living nightmare, its shadowy form flickering as it bypassed the physical defenses of the pack warriors. Every time a wolf lunged, their claws passed through nothing but cold mist. The creature was closing in on Elara, its burning ember eyes fixated on the silver mark on her neck.
"Stay back!" Silas roared, shifting fully into his massive black wolf form. He lunged at the shadow, but even his immense strength was useless. He crashed through the mist and hit the ground, the dark energy of the creature stinging his skin like acid.
Valerius grabbed his silver blade, blocking a lash of dark energy. "Silas! Elara! You cannot fight a shadow with teeth and claws! You must use the Bond!"
Elara felt the creature's cold presence inside her mind again, trying to drown her light. But then, she felt Silas's desperation—not just his fear for her, but his undying need to protect her. She realized then that their redemption wasn't just about words; it was about their combined souls.
"Silas, take my hand!" Elara cried out as he shifted back to his human form, bruised but defiant.
As their fingers locked, a violent jolt of energy surged through them. It wasn't the painful burn of the past, but a rhythmic, celestial pulse. Elara's silver mark began to glow with a blinding brilliance, and Silas's eyes turned a molten gold.
Suddenly, a massive shockwave of silver-gold light erupted from their joined hands, forming a shimmering dome around them. The Lunar Resonance had awakened.
The Void-Walker shrieked—a sound of tearing metal—as the holy light touched its shadowy essence. The obsidian mist began to evaporate wherever the light reached. For the first time, the creature looked hesitant.
"We are no longer building on lies, Silas," Elara whispered, her voice echoing with a newfound power.
Silas gripped her hand tighter, feeling his own strength amplified by her light. Together, they stepped forward. The golden-silver fire began to spiral around them, forming a spectral blade of pure energy.
"Today," Silas growled, his voice vibrating with the power of the First-Born, "the darkness finds no home here."
With a unified cry, they unleashed the Star-Fire strike. A beam of celestial flame tore through the center of the Void-Walker. The valley lit up as if a second sun had been born, and the creature's scream echoed until it dissolved into nothingness.
But as the light faded and they collapsed into each other's arms, Valerius looked toward the mountains with a grim expression. "The shadow is gone... but the gate is still open."
