Chapter 141 - "The Harbinger of Chaos"

Chapter 139: The Harbinger of Chaos

The retreating shadows of the first wave left behind a silence more terrifying than the screams of battle. The Alpha stood amidst the wreckage of the southern gate, his chest heaving, silver blood staining his fur. He looked toward the Forbidden Woods, where the trees themselves seemed to part for something massive.

"Get the wounded inside!" he roared, but his voice was drowned out by a sound that chilled the marrow in their bones—a deep, vibrating hum that made the very ground beneath their feet tremble.

Out of the obsidian darkness stepped a figure that defied logic. It was a wolf, yet it stood nearly ten feet tall, its body draped in tattered, ancient robes made of shadow and bone. It carried no weapon, but the sheer aura of "Chaos" radiating from it made the bravest warriors drop to their knees, gasping for air. This was no foot soldier; this was a Harbinger.

"Alpha," the creature spoke, its voice not a sound, but a vibration that echoed directly inside their skulls. "Your pack is a flickering candle in a hurricane. You fight for redemption, but the Old Blood only knows hunger. You have traded your strength for a broken Omega's smile, and for that, your walls will crumble."

The Omega stepped forward, her silver spear glowing with a faint, ethereal light. The "Harbinger of Chaos" turned its pale amber eyes toward her, and for the first time, its hollow face twisted into something resembling a smile.

"The girl who crawled out of the abyss," it hissed. "Do you think a piece of silver can stop the tide? You are the catalyst, little one. It is your very presence that drew us here. Your soul is a beacon for the darkness you tried to flee."

Before the Alpha could strike, the Harbinger raised a withered hand. A shockwave of pure, dark energy erupted, shattering the remaining torches and plunging the courtyard into total darkness. In that void, the chaos began. The ground split open, and vines of black sap began to entwine the legs of the warriors, dragging them down into the earth.

The Alpha lunged, his claws meeting the Harbinger's shadowy robes, but it was like fighting smoke. "I don't care what you are," he snarled, his eyes glowing a fierce, defiant red. "You will not take her. You will not take this pack."

The war had truly begun. The "First Breach" was a test; the Harbinger was the sentence.
