Chapter 190: The Awakening of the Void-King
The black smoke leaking from the cracked core didn't dissipate. Instead, it began to coil around the Alpha and the Omega like a living vine. The coldness it radiated was absolute—a chill that felt as if the very concept of warmth had been erased from existence.
"Alpha... I can't hold it back," the Omega gasped, her silver eyes flickering as the dark energy began to stain her golden aura. "The core isn't just broken. It's becoming a portal."
Suddenly, the smoke solidified. Standing in the center of the forge was a figure draped in armor made of collapsed stars. His face was a void, save for two pinpricks of violet light that served as eyes. He didn't breathe, yet the room vibrated with his presence.
"You thought you ended the hunger by killing the Star-Eaters?" the figure spoke, his voice sounding like a thousand dying suns. "They were merely the scavengers. I am the Void-King, the one who sent them. And you have graciously opened my door."
The Alpha lunged, his pulse-blade humming, but the Void-King simply caught the blade with two fingers. The golden energy hissed and died upon contact. With a flick of his wrist, the Alpha was sent crashing into the control panels.
"Redemption is a lie told by the weak," the Void-King said, stepping toward the trembling Omega. "The universe doesn't want balance. It wants to return to the silence of the void."
The Iron Citadel, once a symbol of hope, began to groan as the Void-King's shadow started to consume the very light they had fought so hard to ignite.
