"I don't think she knows you're with me," Xavier started.
I nodded, "That's good."
"But she knows you're going to this school."
"I'd gathered from the whole contacting you thing."
"Lee, don't," Xavier warned. Wiping the half joking smile off my face.
"What'd she say to you?"
"Asked if I'd seen you at school, if we'd kept in touch."
"And what'd you tell her?"
"I obviously lied. Told her I didn't even know you went to the school. Said the last time I'd seen you was graduation."
I buried my face in my hands and groaned, "Thanks man. Sorry I dragged you into this mess."
"Why don't you just get a restraining order on her? I mean… those voicemails, the emails. I don't wanna think 'bout what she might do to you."
I shook my head, "I tried. No judge's gonna grant the request. She's my mom."
"She stopped being your mom when she started threatening you."
