The orchid house wasn't as grand or complex as the other greenhouse but its beauty struck me nevertheless. It wasn't sunny outside but the glass made it feel like it was still the height of summer.
A bright, open room with metal wall fixtures holding individual plant pots with every imaginable orchid. Yellows, pinks, purples. Delicate white petals with hints of other colors around the center.
I paused, struck dumb by the gorgeous sight before me. Kya bumped into my back then put a hand on my shoulder. He said something with that soothing, deep voice of his but I didn't hear it.
He pushed me gently towards one of the walls of orchids. I finally managed to get ahold of myself and realized he'd been telling me we needed to get out of the way. A group of younger people, possibly high school students, were filing in behind us. I apologized softly a few times but they didn't hear me.
