Chapter 7: The Heir of London

(Keifer's POV)

London looked exactly how people described it.

Cold.

Elegant.

Powerful.

The gray sky stretched endlessly above the city as my car slowly moved through the busy streets. Tall buildings, historic architecture, and crowds of people surrounded us, but I barely noticed any of it.

My mind was somewhere else.

New York.

Jay.

The girl who believed I used her.

I clenched my jaw slightly.

"Sir, we're here."

The driver's voice pulled me back to reality.

I looked outside the window.

In front of me stood a massive glass building with bold silver letters across the entrance.

WATSON CORPORATION

My grandfather's empire.

And apparently…

My future.

I stepped out of the car slowly.

The cold London wind brushed against my face, but it didn't bother me. I had felt colder things in the past few months.

Inside the building, everything looked expensive. Marble floors. Giant chandeliers. Employees walking around in formal suits.

The moment I entered, people started whispering.

"That's him."

"The heir."

"Mr. Watson's grandson."

I ignored them.

A woman in a professional suit quickly approached me.

"Mr. Keifer Watson?"

I nodded.

She smiled politely.

"The board has been waiting for you."

She led me to the elevator, which took us all the way to the top floor.

The doors opened into a massive conference room.

Inside, ten men and women were already seated around a long table.

Executives.

Board members.

People who had probably known my grandfather longer than I had.

The moment I entered, they all stood up.

One of the older men stepped forward.

"Mr. Watson," he said respectfully.

"Welcome to Watson Corporation."

I stood there silently.

The man gestured toward the seat at the head of the table.

"Please sit."

I walked forward slowly and sat down.

The room was quiet for a moment.

Then the man spoke again.

"Your grandfather left clear instructions in his will."

He slid a thick file across the table toward me.

"Everything you see here… now belongs to you."

I opened the file.

Documents.

Company shares.

Financial reports.

Numbers so big they almost looked unreal.

Another woman spoke.

"You now own 72% of Watson Corporation."

My eyes lifted slightly.

"Which makes you the majority shareholder."

The older man nodded.

"And as of today…"

He paused before finishing the sentence.

"You are officially the CEO of Watson Corporation."

The room fell silent again.

CEO.

The word felt strange.

Heavy.

I leaned back in the chair, looking at the people sitting in front of me.

Most of them were watching me carefully.

Trying to judge me.

Trying to figure out if I was worthy of the empire my grandfather built.

I closed the file slowly.

"Tell me something," I said calmly.

The board members exchanged looks.

"What would you like to know, Mr. Watson?"

I rested my arms on the table.

"How much is this company worth?"

The woman with the financial reports answered.

"Approximately 48 billion dollars."

A few months ago, that number would have shocked me.

Now?

It just felt… empty.

Because the one thing I wanted most in the world…

Was something money could never buy.

Jay.

The girl who now believed I broke her heart on purpose.

The board waited for my response.

Finally, I spoke again.

"Alright."

Their attention sharpened immediately.

"Let's start the meeting."

The older man smiled slightly.

"Very well, Mr. Watson."

As the meeting began, people started discussing projects, investments, and company expansions.

But deep inside…

My mind was still somewhere else.

New York.

Where Jay was living her new life.

Making new friends.

Trying to forget me.

And here I was…

Becoming one of the youngest billionaires in London.

But somehow…

It didn't feel like a victory.

Because the girl I would have given everything for…

Was the one thing I had already lost.

And the cruelest part?

She didn't even know the truth.
