Chapter 68 - kiss that made a baby

Chapter: The Kiss That Made a Baby – Part 2

(AUTHOR'S POV)

The Watson mansion was peaceful.

Too peaceful.

Jay and Keifer were in the living room.

Keifer reading something on his tablet.

Jay scrolling through her phone.

Quiet.

Romantic.

Normal.

Then—

The front door burst open.

"WE'RE BACK!"

Keigan's voice.

But different.

Not excited.

Not loud.

Not chaotic.

Worried.

Scared.

Confused.

"KEIF! HIPAG!"

Keiran followed.

Looking tired.

Already over it.

Jay sat up.

Keifer lowered his tablet.

They exchanged glances.

Same thought.

Same realization.

Same—

"What now?"

Keigan ran in.

Face pale.

Eyes wide.

Hands shaking.

Keiran walked behind him.

Arms crossed.

Already done with life.

Keigan stopped in front of them.

Breathed heavily.

Opened his mouth.

Closed it.

Opened it again.

Nothing.

Jay waited.

Keifer waited.

Keigan finally spoke.

"Kuya."

"Hipag."

"I need— I need to tell you something."

Jay leaned forward.

"What?"

Keigan took a deep breath.

"My girlfriend."

"Emma."

"She's—"

He paused.

Swallowed.

"She's pregnant."

Silence.

Jay blinked.

Keifer blinked.

Keiran sighed.

The sigh of someone who had already had this conversation.

Jay spoke first.

"Keigan."

"Yes?"

"Did you—"

She stopped.

Looked at Keifer.

He shrugged.

"Go on."

She looked back at Keigan.

"Did you and Emma—"

"Kiss?"

Keigan nodded.

"Yes."

"Lots of times."

"We love each other."

Jay's lips twitched.

"Just kiss?"

"Yes."

"Nothing else?"

He blinked.

"What else is there?"

Jay's face changed.

Her eyes watered.

Her shoulders shook.

Her mouth opened.

And—

Water.

She had been holding a glass.

It sprayed everywhere.

All over Keifer.

Full face.

Full shirt.

Full lap.

Keifer sat there.

Dripping.

Staring.

Completely soaked.

Jay couldn't stop.

Laughing.

Crying.

Doubled over.

Unable to breathe.

Keigan stared.

Confused.

"Why is hipag laughing?"

Keifer wiped his face.

Slowly.

Calmly.

Dangerously.

"Jay."

She couldn't respond.

Just laughed.

Harder.

Keifer's eye twitched.

"Jay."

Still laughing.

"Wifey."

Nothing.

He looked at Keigan.

"Give me a minute."

Keigan nodded.

Scared.

Very scared.

Keifer turned back to Jay.

Grabbed her.

Kissed her.

Hard.

Deep.

Demanding.

She froze.

For a second.

Then melted.

Kissed him back.

When he finally pulled away—

She was breathless.

Eyes wide.

Lips swollen.

Quiet.

He looked at her.

"Done laughing?"

She nodded.

Small.

"Yes."

He wiped his face again.

"Good."

"Now—"

He looked at Keigan.

"Explain."

Keigan was frozen.

Eyes wide.

Mouth open.

Terrified.

Keiran patted his back.

"You're on your own."

Keigan stammered.

"K-kuya—"

Keifer's voice.

Calm.

Deadly calm.

"You said Emma is pregnant."

Keigan nodded.

"Y-yes."

"And you only kissed."

Keigan nodded again.

"Y-yes."

"Just kiss."

"Nothing else."

Keifer stared at him.

Long stare.

Very long stare.

"Keigan."

"Yes, Kuya?"

"Do you know how babies are made?"

Keigan nodded.

Then shook his head.

Then nodded again.

Confused.

Scared.

"K-kissing?"

Keifer closed his eyes.

Took a deep breath.

Jay started laughing again.

Quieter this time.

But laughing.

Keifer opened his eyes.

Glared at her.

She covered her mouth.

Failed.

He looked back at Keigan.

"Who told you kissing makes babies?"

Keigan pointed at Jay.

"She said— yesterday—"

Jay waved.

"I was joking!"

"Mostly!"

Keigan looked betrayed.

"But— but Emma said—"

Keifer raised an eyebrow.

"What did Emma say?"

Keigan swallowed.

"She said she missed her period."

"So she might be pregnant."

"And I said—"

"'But we only kissed.'"

"And she said—"

"'My sister told me that's enough.'"

"Her sister said kissing can make babies."

Jay lost it.

Again.

Water was gone.

But she grabbed a pillow.

Screamed into it.

Laughing.

Crying.

Keifer rubbed his temples.

"Keigan."

"Yes, Kuya?"

"Emma's sister is wrong."

Keigan blinked.

"She is?"

"Yes."

"Very wrong."

"Kissing does not make babies."

Keigan's face fell.

"Oh."

Then—

"But Emma missed her period."

"That means baby, right?"

Keifer opened his mouth.

Closed it.

Opened it again.

Nothing.

Jay was no help.

On the floor now.

Laughing.

Keiran was no help.

Leaning against the wall.

Also laughing.

Quietly.

But laughing.

Keifer took a breath.

"Keigan."

"Yes, Kuya?"

"Missing a period can mean many things."

"Not just pregnancy."

"Stress."

"Sickness."

"Many things."

Keigan's eyes widened.

"So— maybe no baby?"

"Maybe."

"But— but Emma is scared."

"She's crying."

"She thinks we're too young."

Keifer softened.

Slightly.

"Keigan."

"Yes?"

"Go to your room."

"Call Emma."

"Tell her to come here tomorrow."

"We'll talk to her."

"Together."

"Figure this out."

Keigan nodded.

Sniffled.

"Okay, Kuya."

He walked away.

Slowly.

Sadly.

Confusedly.

Keiran followed.

Patted his back.

"Don't worry."

"We'll fix it."

They disappeared upstairs.

The Living Room – Just Them

Silence.

Finally.

Jay was still on the floor.

Still laughing.

Quieter now.

But laughing.

Keifer looked at her.

Dripping.

Soaked.

Exhausted.

"Done?"

She looked up.

At him.

At his wet shirt.

At his wet hair.

At his wet everything.

And—

Lost it again.

Full laughter.

Rolling on the floor.

Keifer stood.

Walked to her.

Looked down.

She looked up.

Tears streaming.

"K-Keifer—"

"Your face—"

"The water—"

"Keigan's face—"

"'Kissing makes babies'—"

"I CAN'T—"

He grabbed her.

Pulled her up.

Kissed her.

Again.

Harder this time.

Demanding.

Possessive.

Desperate.

She melted.

Kissed him back.

Arms around his neck.

When he finally pulled away—

She was breathless.

Quiet.

Good.

He looked at her.

"Done?"

She nodded.

Small.

"Yes."

"Good."

He kissed her forehead.

"I'm going to change."

She nodded.

Still breathless.

He walked away.

Soaked.

Dignified.

Husband.

Jay watched him go.

Then—

Whispered.

"Kissing makes babies."

And started laughing again.

Quietly.

So he wouldn't hear.

---

Upstairs – Keigan's Room

Keigan was on his bed.

Phone in hand.

Staring at Emma's contact.

Scared.

Confused.

Sad.

Keiran sat beside him.

"Call her."

Keigan looked up.

"What do I say?"

"The truth."

"That we don't know."

"But Kuya will help."

Keigan nodded.

Took a breath.

Called.

"Emma?"

"It's me."

"Keifer said—"

"You should come tomorrow."

"To the mansion."

"We'll figure this out."

"Together."

He listened.

Nodded.

"Okay."

"Okay."

"Love you too."

He hung up.

Looked at Keiran.

"She's coming."

Keiran nodded.

"Good."

"Now rest."

"Tomorrow will be... interesting."

Keigan lay back.

Stared at the ceiling.

"Keiran?"

"Yeah?"

"Do you think Emma's sister hates me?"

Keiran thought.

"Probably not."

"But if she does—"

"We'll handle it."

Keigan nodded.

Small.

"Okay."

---

That Night – Jay and Keifer's Room

Jay was in his shirt.

Keifer beside her.

Still slightly damp.

From the water.

From the chaos.

From the day.

She looked at him.

"Hey."

He looked at her.

Wary.

"Yes?"

"I'm sorry for laughing."

He raised an eyebrow.

"Are you?"

She considered.

"No."

"Not really."

"It was funny."

He stared.

She smiled.

Innocent.

Too innocent.

He sighed.

Pulled her closer.

"You're impossible."

She nodded.

"Your impossible."

He kissed her head.

"Love you."

"Love you too."

"But seriously—"

"Keigan's face?"

"When you said 'kissing makes babies'?"

She laughed.

Quietly.

"Yes."

"That was the best part."

He shook his head.

But he was smiling.

"Go to sleep, wifey."

She snuggled closer.

"Okay, hubby."

"Tomorrow will be interesting."

He nodded.

"Very interesting."

"Emma's sister."

"Keigan's panic."

"Your laughing."

She hit his chest.

"No power."

He held her tighter.

"Love you."

"Love you too."

"Forever?"

"Forever."

They slept.

Ready for tomorrow.

Ready for more chaos.

Ready for family.
