KALIA
"And where do you think you're going?" Celyn asked the minute I stepped into the living room that evening.
I made sure to dress up beautifully and look my very best today because other than going to ask Darren to marry me, I also wanted to make an impression as well.
I didn't want to go there looking like my problems that I was trying to run away from so I took the initiative to at least dress up properly to look the part.
"I asked you a question, Kalia." She repeated, glaring daggers at me.
"Where are you going? Don't you think it's a little too early to whore around when you just called off your marriage not too long ago?"
"I didn't know that I had to discuss my whereabouts with any member of this family before going about my business now. If I did, then I would've done so a long time ago." I answered nonchalantly, ignoring her outburst.
She was slowly starting to get on my nerves but I knew that I had to ignore her. This isn't the right time or the right place to flare up.
I was still under her father's house and who knows what they might do to me if I got into a fight with their beloved precious daughter that could do no wrong.
"I told you didn't I?" She ranted on. "I told you not to ruin things for me. The headlines are already trending and people are starting to ask questions. Do you really want to add to it?"
"And what does that have to do with me?" I questioned, tilting my face to look at her sternly. "How is that any of my business?"
"Mother is trying to clean up your mess." She barked at me. "She's trying to form a hand of friendship with the Alexander's after all the rubbish you've done and you want to make it worse?"
"Callum's family already despises us because of you. Do you want to ruin whatever reputation we have left? Is that why you're doing this?"
"I don't owe you or this family any explanation."
"You do." She sharply replied and sprung up from her chair to face me squarely. "This isn't your father's house and you can't go about doing whatever you like as you please."
"As long as you're here, you're tied to us and I won't have you wandering around doing only god knows what and trying to ruin our family's reputation after that stupid stunt you pulled just yesterday."
I scoffed mockingly. "Reputation? What reputation? Is it the one that you ruined with your own hands when you threw yourself at my fiance?"
She went silent at those words.
"I believe you've mixed up the idea of what a reputation is all about and how it can be ruined." I retorted and walked out of the house to where my car was parked.
Getting into my car, I put in the location of the restaurant on the GPS before driving out of the building.
It took me exactly twenty-five minutes before I pulled up in front of the restaurant.
Luckily, the traffic wasn't much otherwise it could've been worse. Stepping out of the car, I made sure it was securely locked before making my way into the restaurant.
It was a local spot secluded from the main city. As I made my way inside, I wondered why Darren, an Alpha's son of high status would choose to come here out of all the beautiful places he could've visited instead.
I got in and I couldn't help but marvel at the beauty and aesthetic sight that filled my eyes.
Judging from the outside, I didn't even think that the inside could be this pretty. I think that I was starting to get a glimpse of what he saw in this place. It didn't look as bad as i had anticipated it to be.
I glanced at my watch, it was 5:30pm on the dot. Kate had told me that he'd be here by five so why couldn't I see him?
I scanned around my surrounding and that's when I spotted him at the far end of the room. He was shaking the hands of an unfamiliar man who later walked out of the building.
He then sat down on his seat and took a sip of his wine as he glanced through the files littered on the table while working on his laptop simultaneously.
Judging from his expression, I could tell that looked a bit tired and worn out but he still looked very handsome and well put together.
I didn't want to say it but compared to Callum, this man was a full option. He was wearing a black short sleeved cuban collar shirt with a V-neck that was well split to the middle.
He paired the shirt with pleated trousers. I've come to notice that he has a thing for V-necks. I wouldn't blame him though. If I had that type of body, it'd always be on full display all the time.
Discarding my sinful thoughts, I slowly yet confidently approached him. My shadow casted on his table as soon as I arrived and he slowly raised up his face to meet mine.
"Good evening, Mr Darren." I greeted politely. I was shaking internally but I tried my best so that it doesn't show. I had to stand my ground no matter what. Everything i have, depends on this meeting.
"Kalia?" He called out my name, leaving me speechless.
I didn't think he'd remember my name let alone my face after the meeting due to the fact that everyone deemed me unimportant but I'm glad he did because it saved me the trouble of re-introducing myself.
"What are you doing out here?" He asked with furrowed brows. His deep mesmerizing voice filling my ears with its richness. "How do you even know about this place?"
"Can I have a seat?" I requested and he pointed at the chair opposite his.
"Of course. Make yourself comfortable."
Kate had told me that this man was not approachable and that he didn't like talking to people so I'm surprised that he had given me an audience without letting me try so hard. Could the rumours be false?
"Would you like anything?" He inquired, flipping through the papers on the table.
"This place is popularly known for their cocktails and exotic drinks. Trust me, you wouldn't be disappointed." He added, his eyes still glued to the papers in front of him.
"I um...I actually came here because I wanted to talk to you." I started after much deliberation. "I need your help Darren and it's quite important."
He glanced at me briefly. His expression looks frigid and quite serious. "Whatever about? If you're here to talk me into allowing you to fix my car after finding out that I'm Callum's brother then I'll have you know that it's fine and you don't have to."
"I meant it when I said that I don't hold it against you."
I breathed out slowly. "It isn't about fixing your car although I wish it was because it would have been very easy for me to say it without sounding strange or stupid."
"What is it then?" He urged me to speak even though I found it incredibly hard to do so. "I wouldn't know unless you tell me and your silence is only making me more curious now."
I swallowed hard, bracing myself for the worst. Well, here goes nothing.
"I'll just go straight to the point because there is no easier way for me to say this to you without sounding strange." Mustering up courage, I looked at him dead straight in the eye.
"I want you to get married to me, Darren." I blurted out while he looked at me, shocked as if I had just said the most abominable thing that he has ever heard in his entire life.
