"Explain to me," Sebastian said again. His voice wasn't loud, but it had a jagged, icy edge that made the nearby workers stop their clattering tools. "Why is the foundation depth different from the blueprint approved by my company?"
The moment the words left his mouth, the entire atmosphere changed.
The loud grinding of machines suddenly felt distant. The workers carrying metal rods slowed down unconsciously. Even the humid island breeze seemed to pause between the unfinished pillars and mountains of gravel. Engr Collins and his assistant stood like stone statues with pale faces.
Sarah stood slightly behind Sebastian, her pink hat shielding part of her face, but her eyes remained fixed on Engineer Collins and the other engineers standing nearby.
"Sir... we made sure we followed all the blueprints sent to us from the headquarters," Collins stammered, wiping sweat from his forehead with a trembling hand. "We haven't deviated by a single centimeter."
