Chapter 21 - Chapter 21: Laying the Groundwork for Theresa of Erudition

From Kiana the Lord Ravager Onward: A Grand Fabricated History

Author: Better Hang Myself Than Write

After hearing Kiana's series of answers, both Herta and Ruan Mei were left with enormous doubts about everything she had said.

"The second seat of the Genius Society?"

Kiana nodded again. "Yeah. And Universal Fantasy was a project developed by my aunt."

"She told me that the system could simulate all kinds of Paths and Aeons within a virtual environment. It was especially useful for training talent or doing research."

"I remember a lot of factions across the galaxy used it back then. I originally thought you and Big Sister Herta were doing some kind of archaeological study on the first-generation prototype…"

At this point, Kiana looked at the Simulated Universe device in front of her with a confused expression.

"So that's not it?"

Of course it wasn't!

Seeing her Simulated Universe on the verge of being turned into some cheap imitation, Herta immediately shot back,

"If I remember correctly, the second seat of the Genius Society is Henaad. Since when did it become this… Theresa person?"

The Genius Society was famous throughout the galaxy. Never mind Herta—everyone in the galaxy knew its history by heart.

The first seat was Zandar, the legendary man who had created an Aeon; after him came Henaad Poinche, the second seat, and Nyul Eman, the third.

As for this Theresa who had suddenly appeared out of nowhere?

Herta had never even heard the name.

And for some reason, the moment she heard the name Theresa—especially upon hearing that this woman was supposedly one of her own seniors—

Herta felt a strange sense of embarrassment rise within her for no reason at all.

What was that supposed to mean?

Faced with Herta's confusion, Kiana not only failed to answer directly, she immediately voiced her own confusion instead.

"Henaad? But in my memory, wasn't he the third seat of the Genius Society? Since when did he steal Auntie's position?"

Herta's expression froze.

She exchanged a glance with Ruan Mei, and both saw the same bewilderment in the other's eyes.

Clearly, something was very wrong here—something neither of them knew about.

Herta spoke again.

"Kiana, can you explain your aunt's situation to us in more detail?"

Kiana blinked, but did not lose her nerve.

This may have been a last-minute idea, but she had already prepared herself for it.

"Do Big Sister Herta and Miss Ruan Mei really not know my aunt?"

Herta's tone was firm. "Of course not!"

And Ruan Mei, unusually, spoke up on her own.

"The information gap is too large. Unless…"

She paused, her gaze lingering on Kiana for a moment.

"Unless Miss Kiana's memories are, in some respects, damaged."

Kiana laughed inwardly.

Memories damaged?

No—according to her script, it should have been Herta and Ruan Mei whose memories were the ones with problems.

So Kiana began explaining.

"My aunt's full name is Theresa Apocalypse. She's the second seat of the Genius Society, and also the founder of the Universal Fantasy project."

"I don't remember every detail, but I do remember Auntie's Bitter Melon Algorithm pretty clearly. Apparently she calculated some kind of constant that could anchor the future?"

"Oh! I remember now. Her greatest achievement, I think, was co-creating Nous together with Zandar. That should all be recorded in history, shouldn't it?"

In an instant, Herta's expression became extraordinarily complicated.

What Bitter Melon Algorithm? Wasn't that clearly herSolitary Wave Algorithm?!

But compared to having her algorithm "stolen," Herta was clearly far more concerned about something else.

"She co-created Nous with Zandar?"

Now it wasn't just Herta—even the normally composed Ruan Mei's eyes widened slightly.

This was information that overturned common sense.

The birth of Nous had been a galaxy-level event. If there had truly been a second person involved, how could there possibly be no record of it?

At that moment, Herta finally became certain of one terrifying possibility.

If someone had not tampered with the memories of Kiana, this Lord Ravager—

then someone had tampered with the memories of the entire galaxy.

Could this be the work of Enigmata?

"Kiana," Ruan Mei suddenly said.

"Can you tell us more about your aunt? For example, what does she look like? What kind of characteristics does she have?"

Kiana lowered her head and thought for a moment.

"Mmm… Auntie isn't very tall. She has white hair like mine, and she usually likes wearing a nun's habit."

"Oh, right—she was always carrying around a very thick book in her hands, saying it was the crystallization of her wisdom."

"And also, she really loved bitter melon. She always said it was good for thinking."

Herta: "..."

Ruan Mei: "..."

No matter how one looked at it, that description did not sound like the kind of genius who could create an Aeon.

Short, silver-white hair, loves bitter melon?

What kind of neighborhood kid was this supposed to be?

[Ding! Your lie has left Herta and Ruan Mei deeply confused. The lie becomes partially real. Authority over Erudition has risen slightly. A galaxy-wide field of "Mystery" now covers the area, and you have gained 6000 Fabricated History Points!]

[Remaining Fabricated History Points: 22009]

Kiana remained calm on the surface, but inwardly she was already blooming with joy.

Even though this lie had not come with any concrete proof strong enough to make the two geniuses fully believe it, she still received a reward anyway.

That alone showed how much weight this lie carried.

Originally, she had only wanted to try it out a little. If she were being honest, she had not had that much confidence.

But now that there was a galaxy-wide Mystery field covering everything, she felt like maybe she really could cook something bigger.

If she could raise Theresa's persona too…

The more Kiana thought about it, the happier she became, to the point that the corners of her mouth were nearly impossible to suppress.

Still, this was not the time to get smug yet.

She secretly glanced at the expressions on the faces of the two geniuses in front of her.

Herta turned to Ruan Mei and said, "Perhaps… we should first run some examinations on Kiana's memory."

Kiana blinked, a trace of confusion appearing on her face.

"A memory examination? Big Sister Herta, your reactions have been weird ever since just now. You don't think there's something wrong with my head, do you?"

Herta waved a hand. "That's not what I mean."

"It's just that the information you just gave us doesn't line up with the history as we know it at all. So either your memory is damaged, or…"

She stopped there and did not continue.

Or the memory of the entire galaxy was damaged.

That possibility was far too horrifying. Even a genius like Herta did not dare reach such a conclusion lightly.
