Chapter 9 - Sit...accomplished!

Liman leaped out of a kitchen cabinet!

"For heavens sake!" Sienna exclaimed.

The guards, trained for all "Roll" emergencies sprang into action. "ROLL!" they echoed, as though it were a sacred chant.

Before Sienna could protest further, she was wrapped in a white fur rug and rolled out of the kitchen like a human burrito. Finally, she was deposited in her bedroom, rug unraveling dramatically.

She emerged with hair plastered to her forehead, clutching a spoon like a knight's sword.

Her mother-in-law appeared in the doorway, triumphant. "Next time you ask my son to call you mommy, I will have you rolled into the middle of the road. Also, instead of flirting with Kroton, try talking to your son. Lastly, if you ever scare Ali about her eyes going blind, I will blind yours first."

Sienna scoffed. "Oh yes, because teaching her to cry over every little thing is the right thing to do. And my son, when I waved to him and tried to talk to him last night, he sneered at me and looked away." She rose slowly. "What kind of child commands guards to roll his mother away? Even if he doesn't like me, that is unacceptable." She raised her spoon defiantly, "If I can't cook in this house, then I am moving out."

"Try it and see." Her mother-in-law threatened.

Sienna raised her spoon defiantly. "Then mark my words," she declared, "I am moving out."

Servants and guards groaned in unison. "We are going to need more rugs."

Ten minutes later, the servants watched Sienna walk back into the kitchen, in a new outfit, and her hair held up in a round style. This time, she grabbed a frying pan and laid down on the counter.

"Liman, you hateful beast woman if you dare come near me, prepare to meet the consequences." She threatened, her voice echoing like a general reclaiming lost territory.

The servants froze.

Sienna measured oats with the expertise of a jeweler, stirred with the ferocity of a hungry beast and simmered them until the aroma filled the kitchen with the declaration of independence. Then, she sliced some bananas and added them.

Finally, she sat at the medium length oak table, bowl of oats steaming before her. Loudly, and unnecessarily, she shoveled spoonfuls into her mouth while scrolling loudly through her phone. Each swipe punctuated by a crunch of oats. "Hmmm," she mused dramatically, "three bedroom villa, no mother-in-law included."

The guards exchanged nervous glances. The servants whispered. And Sienna, determined to poke the hornet's nest, slurped her oats as though each bite was a manifesto.

"Hmmm, I have found an even better one. A farm house by the sea, six bedrooms and no room for a horrible husband." She tapped as spoon the bowl. "All that space, just enough for me. No rugs allowed."

Cyra burst into laughter from where she was peeking into the dining room, just behind the door.

Sienna cleared her throat. "Ha! this one might be the best yet. His and hers duplex, just like two villas with a bridge connecting them. A weekday house and weekend house, no bad babies invited."

Kroton muttered, "Lady Sienna, stop."

Sienna just became louder. She gasped theatrically, "A seaside cottage. Comes with a balcony, but no arrogant Fox Lord. Finally, a listing that understands me."

In the wide entrance to the dining area, Lady Cadelaria seethed. She tried to go inside by Cyra was holding her back. "Mother, don't ruin this. I am actually enjoying it."

Another one that was seething was Elias. He was standing outside the house, next to a window through which Sienna's voice was carried out clearly.

Sienna scrolled again, oats dripping from her spoon onto the table. "A mountain chalet! I can finally live out my dream of being a bandit. It comes with a fireplace, no accusations, no presumptuous in-laws and husbands, who refuse to sit. Again, no bad children."

Eli and Ali, lurking in the doorway, gasped in betrayal.

"Bad children?" Eli squeaked. "Bad woman how dare you call us bad," he stormed in, yelling at the top of his small voice.

Sienna looked at him, "You call me a bad woman so I am going to call you a bad child. Bad children tell guards to roll their mother away even when their mother has done nothing bad."

Her mother-in-law walked in and slammed her fist on the table. "This is outrageous! How can you call your children bad?"

Sienna leaned back, triumphant. "Outrageous? No, mother-in-law. Revolutionary. I have simply decided to treat everyone like they treat me. If you are nice to me, I will be nice to you. If you are bad to me, I will be bad to you." She looked at Eli and Ali.

While she was okay with accepting the children of the former Sienna and caring for them, she was not going to let that rule over her life. She was not going to let the children treat her like in any way they wished, to a point of humiliating her. If they decided that they didn't want her, she would just let them be.

In the end, when the divorce happened, no court was going to award her custody of them because they were beast men, from a high ranking family with a father who was a beast lord.

As long as they were healthy and loved, the original owner's spirit would be happy, wherever she was.

Only after transmigrating had Sienna come to realize that living it was not as fun as reading the novels or watching the dramas.

She missed her own family, back on earth and she had cried because of this the previous night. She missed her friends, her apartment, her whole life!

Also, dramas always made it seem like it was automatic, accepting and loving the new people in your life like the husband and children she had inherited. Or the new mother and brother she gained. But it was a lie. In her case, they all seemed like strangers. Strangers she did not like very much at this moment.

She tapped her phone and stood up. "I have booked an appointment. Today at noon, I am going to tour the farm house by the sea. Not to spite anyone here but to prepare for my life after the divorce."

The servants whispered furiously. "Is she serious?" "Is she really leaving"

The guards looked confused.

Eli looked panicked and Ala burst into tears.

Elias strolled into the house and as ever, he was looking at her like she was the villain. Forgetting, that he was the one that proposed the divorce. "You are not going anywhere."

Sienna sat down and gestured to a chair. "If you want to stop me, then sit."

"What is with this sit business?" Her mother-in-law screamed tiredly.

Elias pulled the chair and he sat down.

Sienna saw the pop up screen light up.
