Chapter 25 - To Artemis.

Abu Bakr sat in silence after finishing the letter, his quill resting beside the parchment. The weight of the words he had written settled heavily on his chest. He could not ignore the paradox of his feelings—grief mixed with a strange sense of duty, a longing to fulfill promises made in moments of uncertainty. As he read the letter over and over, he felt the emotional distance growing between him and the world he knew. It was as though the journey he was about to embark on was pulling him away from everything that anchored him to the past, including his connection to Artemis.

In his mind, he envisioned her—how she would receive the news of her father's death, how she would react to the pain of losing someone who had once been such a significant part of her life. Abu Bakr knew that the world had a way of moving on, no matter how deeply someone was affected. And yet, he couldn't help but wonder if he was becoming part of that very process, moving from one chapter to the next with only memories to hold onto.

"To Artemis," he whispered softly, almost as if seeking her presence in the room, "I wish there was more I could do, more I could say." He paused, the weight of his own uncertainty hanging in the air. The path ahead was veiled in shadow, and for the first time, Abu Bakr realized that he was no longer simply walking toward an unknown destination; he was leaving something behind—something precious, even if it was just the remnants of a dream.

With a deep breath, he folded the letter carefully and sealed it with the royal crest. The decision to send it felt like one more step into the void, one more relinquishment of control over the future. And yet, in that moment, he knew it was a necessary part of his journey. His purpose had always been tied to something greater, something that could only be understood once he took the first step into the unknown.

"May this reach you in time," Abu Bakr murmured, his voice a mixture of hope and resignation. The letter was his final gesture, a bridge between two worlds—the world he was leaving behind and the one he was about to discover.
