Chapter 3 - Prepare… it has begunq

The forest was quiet again.

As if nothing had happened.

Yun stood still for a few seconds after the old man disappeared, his eyes scanning the empty space where he had been just moments ago.

Nothing.

No footsteps.

No presence.

"…Gone."

His hand slowly moved to his chest.

The pulse was still there.

Steady.

Stronger than before.

"…Nak…"

The word felt unfamiliar.

And yet not entirely foreign.

Yun exhaled slowly, trying to organize his thoughts.

Nothing about today made sense.

Not the man.

Not the energy.

Not the fact that something inside him had already begun to change.

"…Training."

The word echoed in his mind.

He didn't like vague instructions.

He needed structure.

A method.

A result.

Without another word, Yun turned and began walking back toward the exit of the forest.

By the time he reached home, the sun had already begun to set.

The sky burned in shades of orange and gold, slowly fading into dusk.

Everything looked normal.

But Yun knew it wasn't.

He stepped into his house quietly and headed straight to his room.

Then he locked the door.

"…If this is real…"

His gaze shifted toward a corner of his room.

A hidden panel.

Yun crouched slightly and pressed against the wall.

A faint click.

The panel slid open.

Behind it a narrow space.

His private lab.

It wasn't large.

But it was precise.

Glass containers.

Chemical solutions.

Handwritten notes.

Everything arranged with intention.

Yun stepped inside and closed the panel behind him.

"…Let's test this."

He stood in the center of the room.

Then slowly raised his hand.

Nothing happened.

"…Focus."

He closed his eyes briefly.

Remember.

The fire.

The pattern.

The clarity.

Then he felt it.

The pulse.

Stronger.

His breathing slowed.

His mind sharpened.

"…There."

A faint sensation spread through his hand.

Not heat.

Not electricity.

Something else.

Yun opened his eyes.

"…Moisture."

The air around him felt different.

Denser.

His fingers moved slightly.

And then a drop of water formed.

Suspended.

Floating above his palm.

Yun's pupils narrowed.

"…Condensation?"

Another drop appeared.

Then another.

Small droplets began to gather, hovering in the air.

"…I'm pulling moisture from the air…"

His voice remained calm.

But his eyes sharp.

Focused.

"This isn't random."

He adjusted his hand slightly.

The droplets moved.

Slow.

Controlled.

"…So this is Nak."

A third drop formed.

Then a fourth.

Soon a small cluster of water floated above his hand.

Yun studied it carefully.

"…Not pure."

He noticed the slight impurities.

Dust particles.

Microscopic debris.

"…Air composition affects the output."

Even now he analyzed.

That was who he was.

"…Control first."

The droplets trembled slightly.

Then collapsed.

Falling.

Yun lowered his hand slowly.

"…Not stable."

But it worked.

That alone changed everything.

He leaned slightly against the table.

"…This isn't just perception."

"This is physical."

His thoughts drifted.

To the old man.

"…Who are you…"

The way he spoke.

The way he knew.

"…And how did you know about the fire…"

Yun's eyes narrowed.

That wasn't coincidence.

Which meant "…You've been watching."

The realization didn't sit well with him.

Before he could think further a voice called out.

"Yun!"

He froze.

"…Creighton?"

Yun quickly stepped out of the hidden lab and closed the panel.

He unlocked the door and opened it.

Creighton stood there, leaning casually against the wall.

"…You took your time," he said.

Yun blinked once.

"…What is it?"

Creighton smirked.

"We're playing basketball. Everyone's already at the court."

A pause.

"You coming or are you planning to disappear again?"

Yun hesitated.

For a brief moment his mind resisted.

But then he exhaled.

"…Fine."

The court was filled with energy.

Voices.

Laughter.

Movement.

A sharp contrast to everything Yun had experienced earlier.

The ball hit the ground.

Echoing.

Yun stood at the edge for a moment before stepping in.

"Finally," one of the players said.

Creighton tossed him the ball.

"Don't slow us down."

Yun caught it effortlessly.

"…I won't."

The game started.

Fast.

Fluid.

Yun moved instinctively.

Pass.

Step.

Turn.

His body felt lighter.

Sharper.

"…Strange."

Everything felt clearer.

Movements.

Timing.

Even reactions.

"…Faster."

He dodged an opponent with ease.

Shot.

The ball went in.

"Nice," Creighton said, watching him closely.

Yun didn't respond.

Because he felt it.

The pulse.

Again.

Stronger.

"…Not now…"

His focus slipped for a second.

Then a voice.

Clear.

Close.

"Prepare."

Yun froze.

"…What?"

He turned slightly.

No one.

The game continued.

"…Did I imagine that…?"

Then again "Prepare."

This time closer.

Yun's heart tightened.

"…No…"

This wasn't imagination.

The pulse intensified.

"…Something's wrong."

Without warning he dropped the ball.

And stepped back.

"Hey what are you doing?" someone shouted.

But Yun didn't answer.

His eyes scanned the area.

"…Where…?"

The voice it wasn't random.

It was calling him.

"…There."

He turned and started running.

"Yun!" Creighton shouted.

But he didn't stop.

Something pulled him.

Not physically.

But instinctively.

The closer he got the stronger the pulse became.

His breathing grew heavier.

"…Almost…"

He reached the alley.

The same place.

Where it all began.

He stopped.

The air felt different.

"…Again…"

He stepped forward slowly.

The pulse now overwhelming.

Then he saw it.

For a split second.

A shape.

Not fully clear.

Not solid.

But there.

Floating.

Faint.

"…What is that…?"

Yun stepped closer.

The shape flickered.

Like a reflection.

Then it disappeared.

Gone.

Just like that.

Yun stood there.

Frozen.

"…No…"

His hand clenched slightly.

"That was real."

The pulse remained.

Stronger.

As if something had responded.

Or noticed him.

Yun slowly lowered his hand.

His breathing steadied.

But his thoughts didn't.

"…This isn't just energy."

"…This is something else."

Far beyond what he could measure.

Far beyond what he understood.

And for the first time yun realized something.

He wasn't just discovering it.

It was…

Responding to him.
