Chapter 62 - The Return of the Sun

The forest had not yet settled after the battle.

Smoke still rose from the shattered ground.

The enemy forces had been broken—

But their final words remained.

"Hastinapur… is next."

Karna stood still for only a moment.

Then he turned.

"Form up."

His voice carried no hesitation.

Vrindavana immediately understood.

"We move now."

The Solar Guard regrouped quickly.

No rest.

No recovery.

No delay.

Asha wiped the blood from her blade and stepped forward.

"So it finally begins."

Karna mounted his chariot.

The Vijaya Dhanush rested beside him.

Not as a weapon of battle—

But as a promise.

"We ride for Hastinapur."

The Road Back

The journey was relentless.

Day and night blurred together.

Horses pushed to their limits.

No one spoke unnecessarily.

Vrindavana rode beside Karna.

"The timing…"

Her voice was low.

"They pulled us away."

Karna nodded.

"Yes."

Asha added from behind—

"This wasn't random."

"They knew exactly what they were doing."

Karna's gaze remained forward.

"They didn't want to defeat us."

A pause.

"They wanted us absent."

Silence followed.

Because now—

Everything made sense.

Hastinapur

The city was not burning.

It was worse.

It was tense.

Guards stood at every corner.

Double patrols.

Weapons drawn.

Eyes alert.

The gates opened as Karna's unit arrived.

No celebration.

No welcome.

Only urgency.

Inside the palace—

The damage was controlled.

But the impact…

Was not.

Karna entered the inner court.

Duryodhana was already there.

Waiting.

The moment their eyes met—

No words were needed.

"You're late," Duryodhana said.

Not accusing.

Just stating reality.

Karna replied calmly—

"They moved faster than expected."

Duryodhana nodded.

"Yes."

A pause.

Then—

"They got what they came for."

The air grew heavier.

The Archive Hall

Karna stepped inside.

Broken shelves.

Scattered scrolls.

Traces of battle.

At the center—

Two figures stood.

Arjuna.

And Krishna.

For a brief moment—

Time seemed to slow.

Two archers.

Two paths.

Now standing in the same place.

Arjuna's gaze met Karna's.

Sharp.

Measuring.

Karna's expression remained calm.

Unshaken.

Krishna, however—

Smiled.

"Welcome back, Karna."

Karna stepped forward.

"What did they take?"

Krishna didn't answer immediately.

Instead, he picked up a fallen scroll.

Then placed it back.

"Not gold."

"Not weapons."

His eyes lifted.

"Knowledge."

Arjuna added—

"They knew exactly where to go."

Vrindavana stepped forward.

"What kind of knowledge?"

Krishna finally answered.

"Military routes."

"Royal seals."

"Alliance records."

A pause.

"And…"

His gaze sharpened slightly.

"Lineage records."

Silence.

Karna's eyes narrowed slightly.

"Why that?"

Krishna looked directly at him.

"Because war is not only fought with weapons."

A pause.

"It is fought with identity."

The meaning sank in slowly.

Duryodhana clenched his fist.

"They're planning something bigger."

Krishna nodded.

"Yes."

Arjuna added—

"They avoided direct confrontation."

Karna completed calmly—

"Which means they're not ready for war."

Krishna smiled faintly.

"No."

His voice dropped slightly.

"They are preparing for it."

The Shift

The room fell silent.

For the first time—

The battlefield had expanded.

Not just borders.

Not just armies.

But information.

Control.

Manipulation.

Vrindavana spoke quietly—

"They're building something."

Asha added—

"Or breaking something."

Karna turned toward the shattered archive.

His voice was calm.

But firm.

"They're shaping the battlefield before it begins."

Krishna's smile deepened slightly.

"Exactly."

Then—

He stepped closer.

"And now…"

His eyes met Karna's.

"You must decide."

The air grew still.

"Will you react to their moves…"

A pause.

"Or will you make your own?"

Karna didn't answer immediately.

Instead—

He walked toward the broken window.

Looked out at Hastinapur.

The great kingdom.

Unshaken.

But now—

Targeted.

His reflection appeared faintly in the glass.

A warrior.

A king.

A force.

Then—

He spoke.

"They wanted my attention."

His golden eyes sharpened.

"They have it."

Elsewhere…

Far from Hastinapur…

In a hidden chamber…

The same shadowed figures gathered.

A scroll was placed on the table.

Sealed.

Stolen.

One of them spoke—

"The first phase is complete."

Another asked—

"And the Sun King?"

A cold voice replied—

"He has returned."

Silence.

Then—

A faint chuckle.

"Good."

The voice darkened.

"Now the real game begins."

Back in Hastinapur

Krishna stood quietly.

Watching Karna.

Inside his mind—

Thoughts moved deeper.

Further.

Beyond the present.

"The lines are forming…" he murmured.

Arjuna glanced at him.

"What?"

Krishna smiled.

"Nothing."

But his eyes—

Said otherwise.

Because now—

The path toward the great war…

Had truly begun.
