Chapter 64 - The Road to Panchal

The roads leading out of Hastinapur had never felt this heavy.

Not with war.

Not with fear.

But with expectation.

At dawn—

The royal convoy began its journey.

Chariots lined in formation.

Warriors mounted.

Standards raised high.

At the front—

Duryodhana rode with quiet intensity.

Beside him—

Karna.

Calm.

Unreadable.

Behind them—

The selected force.

Not an army.

But enough to command respect.

Vrindavana rode slightly behind Karna.

Her gaze moved constantly.

Scanning.

Measuring.

"This won't just be a gathering," she said quietly.

Karna didn't look at her.

"No."

A pause.

"It will be a battlefield."

The road stretched long across kingdoms.

Villages passed.

Rivers crossed.

Forests thinned.

But one thing remained constant—

Eyes.

Everywhere they went—

People watched.

Whispered.

Observed.

"The King of Ang…"

"The warrior who rivaled Arjuna…"

"The one chosen by the sun…"

Karna ignored it all.

But not everyone did.

Asha smirked slightly as she rode.

"You've become quite the story."

Karna replied simply—

"Stories don't matter."

Vrindavana added quietly—

"Until they start shaping reality."

That—

He didn't deny.

From another path—

Another convoy moved.

At its center—

Arjuna.

His posture was relaxed.

But his eyes—

Sharp.

Focused.

Beside him—

Krishna.

Smiling as always.

Watching everything.

"You're thinking about him," Krishna said casually.

Arjuna didn't respond immediately.

Then—

"Yes."

A pause.

Krishna tilted his head slightly.

"Competition?"

Arjuna shook his head.

"No."

His voice lowered slightly.

"Something else."

Krishna's smile deepened.

"Good."

Arjuna glanced at him.

"What does that mean?"

Krishna looked ahead.

"It means this isn't just about skill."

A pause.

"It never was."

Days passed.

The distance to Panchal shortened.

But something else—

Grew.

An invisible tension.

Two paths.

Moving toward the same point.

Inevitably—

They crossed.

At a narrow stretch of road—

Both convoys approached from opposite directions.

Silence fell almost instantly.

Soldiers slowed.

Hands moved closer to weapons.

Then—

They stopped.

Face to face.

Karna

And

Arjuna

For a moment—

Nothing moved.

No orders.

No greetings.

No hostility.

Just—

Recognition.

Warriors.

Measuring each other again.

Krishna stepped slightly forward.

Breaking the stillness.

"Well…"

He smiled.

"This saves time."

Duryodhana exhaled softly.

"Seems so."

Arjuna's gaze remained on Karna.

"You'll be competing."

Not a question.

Karna nodded once.

"Yes."

A pause.

Arjuna's voice sharpened slightly.

"Then I won't hold back."

Karna's expression didn't change.

"I wouldn't expect you to."

The air tightened.

A challenge—

Without being spoken.

Krishna watched both of them.

Eyes gleaming slightly.

Because this—

Was only the beginning.

Toward Panchal

The two groups didn't merge.

They moved separately.

But now—

Closer.

The distance between them no longer measured in land—

But in moments.

Vrindavana leaned closer to Karna.

"This is going to explode."

Karna replied calmly—

"Let it."

By sunset—

They saw it.

Rising beyond the horizon—

Grand.

Radiant.

Alive with energy.

Panchal Kingdom.

Decorated for a great event.

Banners across walls.

Torches lit along towers.

Crowds already gathering.

Because kings—

Warriors—

And legends—

Were arriving.

For one purpose.

At the heart of it all—

Draupadi.

Unseen.

Yet already influencing everything.

From a distance—

Krishna watched the city.

His smile faded… just slightly.

"The threads are tightening…"

He murmured.

Because now—

The game had entered its most delicate stage.

And somewhere—

Hidden beneath truth and deception—

A secret waited.

Not yet revealed.

But soon—

Impossible to hide.
