"Alright, Tsunade," Mito said gently, stroking her head. "Isamu did go too far this time. This punishment is already very light for him."
"…Alright," Tsunade muttered, lowering her head.
Suddenly—
"Bad news! Uchiha Isamu attacked Danzo inside the cell!"
A ninja rushed in, panic written all over his face.
"What?!" Hiruzen shot to his feet. "Why would Danzo go there? Damn it—Isamu, don't do anything reckless!"
He rushed out immediately, the others following close behind.
He wasn't just concerned—he was genuinely worried.
Someone strong enough to challenge an entire hidden village alone…
If Isamu defected, it wouldn't just be a loss—it would be a disaster for Konoha.
Everyone's expressions turned tense.
When they reached the detention area, Hiruzen immediately grabbed a guard.
"What happened? Did Isamu try to break out?"
"Huh?" The guard looked confused. "Hokage-sama, what are you talking about? Who would dare break out of this place?"
"…Wasn't there a report that he attacked someone in his cell?"
"Oh, that." The guard relaxed slightly. "He just hit Danzo… then stopped. He didn't try to escape."
Hearing that, everyone quietly let out a breath.
"Take us to him."
"Yes, Hokage-sama."
They followed the guard inside—
And froze.
Isamu was lying on the bed.
Sleeping soundly.
…
We rushed over in a panic… and he's taking a nap?
"Isamu! Wake up!" Hiruzen barked.
"…Huh?" Isamu rubbed his eyes, clearly annoyed. "Who is it? Can't I sleep in peace?"
Then he saw who it was and quickly got up.
"Oh—Sarutobi-aniki. Elder. Tsunade—you're here too."
He greeted them casually.
Then his gaze shifted to the elderly woman beside them.
He frowned slightly.
She looked familiar… but he couldn't quite place her.
"…And you are?" he asked.
Before anyone else could answer—
"Uchiha Isamu," the woman said calmly, "it's been many years. It's normal that you don't remember me."
"I'm Uzumaki Mito."
"I was an old friend of your father."
Mito…
Isamu's eyes narrowed slightly.
So this is the First Hokage's wife.
He didn't remember having much contact with her.
Why was she here?
"…Lady Mito," he said politely. "What brings you here?"
"Tsunade brought me," Mito replied, studying him closely.
"I didn't expect that the boy once kept under house arrest by Tobirama would grow this strong."
"Strong enough to challenge an entire country alone."
Her gaze sharpened.
"And if I'm not mistaken…"
"You've already awakened those eyes, haven't you?"
The atmosphere instantly changed.
Isamu's expression turned serious.
"Sarutobi-aniki. Tsunade. Elder."
"Please step outside."
"I need to speak with Lady Mito alone."
The Great Elder clearly wanted to stay—especially after hearing "those eyes"—but he held himself back and left with the others.
Hiruzen and Tsunade glanced at Mito.
She gave a small wave.
They exited.
Now—
Only the two of them remained.
"Alright," Mito said. "No one else is here. Speak."
A faint smile appeared on Isamu's lips.
"As expected of Hashirama Senju's wife. Your influence in Konoha is still unmatched."
"Even the Hokage listens to you."
Mito didn't react.
"No need for sarcasm," she said calmly. "Answer the question."
"Have you awakened those eyes?"
"…I have."
Isamu met her gaze directly.
"The eyes that hold the Sage's power."
Mito frowned.
Once those eyes awakened… Uchiha often changed.
Sometimes for the worse.
"So you understand," she said slowly, "what those eyes mean."
"They come with a cost."
"Time in the light is limited."
"And the power itself… affects the mind."
Isamu let out a quiet breath.
"If I were affected, do you think I'd be this calm right now?"
"And as for the 'cost'—"
"You think I wouldn't know?"
His tone had shifted.
He was no longer speaking politely.
He was speaking as an equal.
At his current level—
He didn't need to lower himself to anyone.
Mito's expression hardened slightly.
"Hmph."
"Since you understand, then act like it."
"You caused a major incident this time."
"Tsunade begged me to step in for you."
"I've decided to suppress the matter with the Land of Earth."
Her gaze sharpened.
"But this is the first—and last—time."
"If it happens again, even Tsunade won't be able to help you."
"Behave yourself."
She turned to leave.
"Lady Mito—wait."
She stopped, clearly displeased, and turned back.
"What now?"
Isamu scratched his head awkwardly.
"…I misunderstood your intentions earlier."
"I thought you came here to make things worse."
"My attitude was inappropriate."
"I apologize."
He bowed.
After all—
She was Tsunade's grandmother.
That alone was reason enough.
Mito paused.
"Oh? I thought you'd be just as unruly as your father."
"He is him. I am me."
Isamu's voice was calm—but firm.
"I'll never follow his path."
He would never accept something like the Infinite Tsukuyomi.
"Also…" he added, rubbing his nose, "please don't tell Tsunade about earlier."
Mito snorted softly.
"Fine. I won't."
Then she looked at him again—
And sighed.
"What a waste…"
"A talented Uchiha like you…"
"And soon, those eyes will take your sight."
"Truly unfortunate."
Isamu smiled slightly.
"That's not going to happen."
"My eyes won't go blind."
"Because—like him…"
"I've awakened the Eternal eyes."
Mito's eyes widened.
"…Impossible."
"Even Madara himself didn't fully understand how he achieved that."
"How did you do it?"
Isamu scratched his head.
"…That's an Uchiha secret."
"Can I leave it at that?"
Mito studied him for a moment—
Then nodded.
"Fine."
"If it's a secret, I won't press you."
"But answer this—"
"Is it easy to achieve? Can others do it?"
Her tone had turned serious.
If this power could be replicated easily—
Konoha would fall into chaos.
"I'm the only one who knows the method," Isamu replied calmly.
"And among the current Uchiha—"
"No one else can achieve it."
Mito exhaled quietly.
Good.
That meant stability—for now.
"Isamu," she said, looking at him seriously, "you must never reveal this method."
"Not to anyone."
"Except perhaps your own descendants."
"Can you promise that?"
"I can."
Isamu answered without hesitation.
"Absolutely."
Seeing his confidence, Mito finally relaxed.
She had her own reasons.
Tsunade clearly had feelings for him.
And from what she could see—
He felt the same.
If the descendants of Hashirama and Madara were united…
Konoha's future would be far more stable.
