The pool of blood began to burn and turned into ash. The ash began to gather together in the shape of a body. The body then began to move and the ash fell away leaving Jason in the street. He looked around confused. "Didn't I just die" Jason said to himself. He looked down and saw that he was completely naked. He blushed heavily and started to run to his apartment building.
He opened the door and ran to his room. Luckily no one was in the hallway at the time. He entered his room and slammed the door closed. He quickly put on some shorts and went to bed. He tried to rest but he couldn't. For some reason he wasn't tired at all. He got up, put on a shirt and a jacket and walked outside.
The night was nice for there were no clouds in the sky. The wind blew pleasantly across the outskirts. Jason found it extremely relaxing. He closed his eyes and breathed deeply. He went back inside and walked to the end of the hall and knocked on the door. No one answered.
'She is probably at her usual place then'
He went to the elevator at the end of the hall and went to the top floor. He got out and went to the stairwell to the roof and found the door already opened. He walked outside and closed the door. He sat down on the floor, breathed in the fresh air and waited. Eventually flapping wings could be heard and Jason stood up. Jessica landed right in front of him in her blessed form.
"Well this is a surprise. You normally don't come up here." Jessica said with a smile. She turned back into her humanoid form. Her long blue hair flowed with the wind. She wore a white blouse with a white pencil skirt and leggings that went halfway up her thighs. She seemed different to Jason now. More… desirable? She smelled a little different to Jason now as well. Normally she smelled like citrus fruits but now something was different. He couldn't quite place it and Jessica could sense something was off with him too. Her eyes widened in disbelief. "You" she couldn't form the words. She took a step back.
"What?" He asked confused.
"Your a blessed. How" she said.
Jason's eyes widened in disbelief. "I can't be a blessed Jessica. A blessed is bonded upon birth. There is no way I can be blessed."
"We blessed can tell when there is a blessed. We can either sense it or smell it. That is how we differentiate between the blessed and the humans. And you" she looked at me once more. "You are a blessed"
"It still doesn't make sense how" Jason said.
"It doesn't matter how Jason. All that matters is you have what you wanted most. Now we can go to the academy together."
Maverick Academy. A school that trains the blessed to master and enhance their powers. At the end of graduation, kingdoms, empires and some surviving governments from all over the world come together and choose the blessed they wanted to have.
"You know how I feel about being restrained. I would rather be free"
"You may not get chosen by any government or kingdom" Jessica said grabbing his shoulders. "Each representative will only get one blessed each. Come on. You just got blessed. This may be the only chance you get to learn how to utilize you new powers."
Despite being blessed, Jason's shoulders are in pain because Jessica is stronger than him. She started to squeeze unconsciously hoping to get him to join her in the academy.
Jason grimaced in discomfort. "Ok I'll go as long as you stop gripping my shoulders like that. You've been a blessed longer than I have. It hurts."
"Oh I'm sorry." Jessica said as she let go. "I forgot your a fledgling." A blessed who have no idea what the mythical creature they have bonded with is and have no idea what powers they possess are called fledglings. "But do you know what this also means?" Jessica smiled at him. She stepped closer she placed a hand on his cheek and rubbed it affectionately. "We can finally be together."
Jason's eyes widened at her sentence. She was so close now and smelled so nice. His heart was racing and his breathing elevated. He couldn't move. He wasn't sure he wanted too. She moved her hand down to his chest and lightly pushed him. She moved her foot behind his leg so he would fall to the floor. She straddled him and tucked her hair behind her ear and looked down at him.
"Why did you push me down"
"It's because I can't kiss you while standing up" she said pouting. "Your too damn tall." She leaned down and kissed him. Jason's mind emptied in a second. He closed his eyes and savored the feeling of her lips moving against his own. He started to kiss back and moved his hands to her waist.
A muffled moan came from Jessica as she started to explore Jason's body with her hands. Jason moved his hands to her back as if to hold her there. Eventually they separated and gasped for air.
"We should probably go inside and get some rest" Jason said.
"We're blessed Jason. We don't really need rest" She leaned down to kiss him again.
They remained like that for a while until Jessica got off of him. "I'm satisfied for now" she said with a blissful smile on her face. Jason could tell how happy she was. She never smiled like that before. "Meet me at the train station at noon tomorrow. And pack your bags."
"Wait it's tomorrow?" Jason asked. "I didn't register for it.
"You don't need to register for it. You show up and you enter. All you have to do is be a blessed and they take care of the rest."
'Well that's pretty nice' Jason thought to himself.
"I'll see you tomorrow!" She said before jumping off the building.
Jason raced to the edge before noticing she activated her blessing and glided down to the first floor.
"Showoff" Jason muttered under his breathe.
He went inside and closed the door. He called the elevator and descended down to the first floor. He walked to his room and started to pack his bag when letters appeared in front of him.

"Aaaaahhhh!" Jason jumped back and landed on his butt. The letters appeared in front of him once more. "H…hello?"

THIS SYSTEM HAS BEEN GRANTED TO YOU FROM THE ARTIFACT YOU HAVE FOUND. THE ARTIFACT WAS CREATED BY A GOD TO GRANT AN ORDINARY MORTAL THE POWER OF A MYTHICAL CREATURE THAT BEST SUITS THEM RATHER THAN A CREATURE THAT BONDS TO THEM AT BIRTH.
"Is there a difference between the two?" Jason asked.
THERE IS A BIG DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO. A HUMAN CAN GROW AND EVOLVE ALONG WITH THE CREATURE OVER TIME. HOWEVER THERE ARE KNOWN CIRCUMSTANCES THAT THE HUMAN MAY TRAVEL A DIFFERENT PATH THAN THE BONDED CREATURE INTENDED AND LIMIT THE POTENTIAL OF BOTH
"I see" Jason said not really understanding anything.
