Chapter 22 - Chapter 22

Void Archives didn't bother teaching little Otto any physiology. He already knew how to surf the internet, so he could look that sort of thing up himself.

She walked over to the bedside and looked at the unconscious Bronya with obvious interest, her face showing an expression of "so that's how it is."

Otto treated Void Archives' words as nonsense, but he still kept what she'd said in mind, planning to look up what it meant when he had time.

So that state of his had a name?

"What is it?"

Seeing how interested Void Archives was in Bronya, Otto asked.

"Nothing. Just a little surprised, that's all."

Void Archives carefully examined Bronya. "The First Herrscher of this era was that fellow Joyce, so it had me thinking there were no similar flowers in this era."

"'Similar flowers'?" Otto repeated the phrase. "What do you mean?"

"Let me give you an example." Void Archives raised one finger. "You've read so much material by now, so you should know what a Herrscher is, right?"

"Mm." Otto nodded. He now knew what a Herrscher was: a messenger of Honkai, an existence that would bring disaster to the world.

"Then you also know that besides this era, there was another era long, long ago too, right?"

"Mm." When Otto had been reading Fu Hua's materials, he'd learned of the Previous Era. It had been a brilliant civilization, and in the end it had been wiped out by Honkai.

But then Otto suddenly thought of something.

If that was how it counted, then that person called Fu Hua was over fifty thousand years old, wasn't she?

A Shenzhou flat board over fifty thousand years old. Terrifying indeed.

"The Herrscher of Flame in the Previous Era was called Himeko, but in this era there's a Valkyrie called Murata Himeko who is almost exactly the same as her."

"I call that a similar flower. You should keep an eye on that Murata Himeko. Maybe one day she'll turn into the Herrscher of Flame."

Void Archives said this. She possessed all the information from the Previous Era. She knew every Herrscher's abilities and weaknesses.

"Then—" Otto looked at Bronya, fixing the name Murata Himeko in his mind. "Does she also have a similar existence in the Previous Era?"

Going by Void Archives' words, there had also been someone in the Previous Era similar to Bronya.

"Mm." But Void Archives didn't continue. Clearly, she had no intention of telling Otto any more.

Instead she reached out and adjusted Bronya's body, raising the tilt of her hips even higher.

Looking at the girl's face, Void Archives started laughing to herself.

"Damn, I look good."

Otto didn't know why Void Archives was laughing. He also had no idea that most of Void Archives' existence was composed of the Previous Era's Bronya.

He only assumed that Void Archives and the Previous Era Bronya had known each other, and that by arranging an old acquaintance into such an embarrassing pose, she was mocking her.

After thinking about it, Otto reached out and cupped Bronya's small butt, trying to lower her into a flatter position.

With her posed like this, he honestly didn't know where he was supposed to look.

If he looked too long, that strange feeling would show up again.

But at that moment, Void Archives vanished abruptly, and footsteps came from the doorway. The door hadn't been shut, and Amber walked straight in.

She was carrying a small bag. It wasn't transparent, so it was impossible to see what was inside.

She was a little puzzled. She thought she'd just heard laughter, but this was the Schicksal core zone where the Overseer lived, and random outsiders couldn't get in.

Then she saw the scene in the room, and her eyes narrowed slightly.

The Lord Overseer was sitting on the bed with both hands cupping Bronya's butt. Was he about to lick it?

The suggestive scene made Amber's mind fill in quite a lot of detail. Thinking of the laughter she'd just heard — had the Lord Overseer perhaps become a little more uninhibited?

But when Otto saw Amber come in, he kept trying to flatten Bronya's hips so they'd stop sticking up. But the special binding forced Bronya's body into an arch. No matter how he adjusted her, he couldn't change the posture.

As expected of the Lord Overseer.

Watching this, Amber couldn't help sighing to herself. Even in front of her, he made no effort to hide the way he was handling the girl's butt.

He really didn't treat her like an outsider. But as the Lord Overseer's secretary, she really could count as one of his own people.

A sense of being acknowledged spread through Amber's heart, while over on the bed Otto finally gave up. He felt that the more he fussed with it, the tighter the rope only drew.

He stood up, and Amber respectfully walked over, handing him the small bag she'd been carrying.

Otto accepted it with some puzzlement. So these were the things Amber had wanted him to wait for?

His gaze dropped to what was inside. It seemed to be filled with flat little square boxes, all sorts of them, maybe more than ten in total.

Otto didn't recognize any of the things, but he couldn't show that confusion. Amber was his secretary, so whatever she'd prepared had to be something he needed right now.

Then he'd just take them for now.

Because of that, Otto nodded to Amber. "Mm. Not bad. I really do need these."

For some reason, he heard Void Archives laughing inside his head.

Otto showed a very satisfied smile, as if these things really were exactly what he needed.

Amber gave him a look of complete understanding — though unfortunately she was wearing goggles, so none of it reached Otto.

As expected, Lord Overseer was someone who paid attention to safety. She had handled this matter well.

If Lord Overseer truly wanted direct descendants, then the child should ideally be borne by a Valkyrie of clean background. There could not be the slightest carelessness or casualness in a matter like this.

Several candidate names flashed through Amber's mind, every one of them an exceptionally outstanding Valkyrie.

"Then I'll go handle the matters that still need handling. Please make yourself at home."

Amber took her leave. Next, this room would belong to Overseer Otto and this girl. There was no need for her to remain here.

Even though Amber wouldn't have minded staying behind to lend a hand, Otto bringing the orphanage children back had added to her workload, and she was just about to go deal with it.

"Alright." Otto didn't keep her. Amber was far too familiar with his future self, and he was afraid she might notice something off.

Very soon the room fell quiet again. Amber had properly shut the door on her way out, clearly not wanting anyone to disturb Lord Overseer.

"Little Otto, you really are interesting."

Void Archives didn't show herself, but her voice passed straight into his mind.

Otto didn't say anything either, because he was fairly sure Void Archives was calling him some kind of adorable idiot.

He set the bag down casually by the bedside, but the bottom was uneven and the whole thing tipped over at once, a few boxes spilling out onto the floor.

He didn't bother with them and just left them there.

He only spoke in a flat voice to the empty room.

"Void Archives. There's something I want your help with."
