Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 — Otto, Without Worldly Desire

Year 1465.

A golden-haired, blue-eyed boy stood in a magnificent courtyard, fiddling with a small wooden airplane in his hands.

Judging by his appearance, he was around twelve or thirteen years old, still at an age when the traces of childhood had yet to fade.

He spread his arms, and the wooden airplane in his hands rode the wind into the air.

It was the boy's invention. After a whole night of effort, it had finally managed to fly.

A faint smile appeared on the boy's face, pleased with his success.

But at that moment, a stone flew in from behind him and struck the airplane in midair.

The wooden wings snapped, and the little plane fell like a shooting star, dropping outside the courtyard wall.

"Making useless things again."

"Stop wasting your effort. With a body as weak as yours, it's already a blessing that you're alive."

"How did I end up with such a useless little brother!"

His elder brother's voice came from behind him, full of disgust. It had been him who threw the stone and smashed the airplane.

A rotten older brother with a nasty temperament.

The quiet boy did not respond. He only stared blankly at the wall.

It fell outside. I'll have to go pick it up...

The boy tried to climb the wall, but his weak body could not even get over a wall only as tall as an adult.

I can't do anything at all.

If I were older, I should be able to get over this wall.

Looking at his dust-stained hands, the boy fell silent. Then he lifted his head and looked up at the wide blue sky.

The sky was clear and empty, yet the sun was nowhere to be seen.

And just then, a small dark silhouette appeared above the wall.

It was as if the sun had risen.

The boy could not help stretching out his hands. He wanted to embrace that sun.

But then, the scene froze.

The boy named Otto Apocalypse did not embrace his sun.

Yet the hands he had reached out did touch something soft.

Huh?

Otto was a little confused. Before his eyes now was no longer the broad blue sky and the courtyard wall.

Instead, there was a pair of emerald-like eyes.

So beautiful.

Otto felt as if he were about to fall into those beautiful, crystal-clear eyes.

The gray-haired, green-eyed "boy," dressed only in a light two-piece undergarment, looked at Otto. Those emerald eyes lowered, coldly observing the hands Otto had pressed against his chest.

He's so beautiful.

Otto could not help thinking that.

The "boy" before him had delicate features, and there was a strange air between his brows that made Otto instinctively shrink back a little.

Why does he look a little unhappy?

For a moment, Otto was so drawn in by those eyes that he forgot to lower the hands still pressed against the other's chest. Through his palms, he could even feel the heartbeat beneath them.

Time passed bit by bit. The "boy" frowned, and his gaze seemed to turn colder.

Then those red lips parted. The "boy" spoke, and the moment the voice came out, Otto realized he had misunderstood.

The one whose chest he was pressing was not a delicate young man, but a delicate girl.

"Otto?"

"Is there something wrong with my body?"

The girl named Fu Hua asked in confusion, her voice as pleasant as pearls scattered across jade.

Fu Hua did not find Otto's behavior particularly strange. She had known the man called Otto for hundreds of years, and she knew very well that he had no worldly desires.

So was there something wrong with her body?

Had something gone wrong with her chest?

Fu Hua immediately became concerned and lowered her head to look at her flat chest.

She was a Valkyrie of Schicksal, but because of her physical condition, there were times when she needed the man before her to help regulate her body.

A warrior needed a healthy body. There was no room for carelessness.

Yet she saw a trace of confusion in the eyes of the golden-haired man before her.

"Big sister, you know me?" Otto asked, puzzled as to why this beautiful girl knew his name.

His hands quietly moved away from her nearly flat chest. The only older sister who had ever given him a little warmth had once taught him that he could not casually touch a girl's body, or she would get angry.

Still, even if there was about as much rise and fall as a boy's, a girl's body there was still soft.

But the moment he opened his mouth, Otto was startled.

He discovered that his voice had become deeper and heavier, like his father's and brother's.

That realization stirred a trace of disgust in him. He did not like his father or his brother. The way they looked at him always made his heart feel terribly uncomfortable, and so he instinctively reached up and grabbed his own throat.

He did not know whether he wanted to strangle his father and brother, or strangle himself for having a voice like that.

Then he realized in even greater shock that although his arms were still slender, they were thicker and stronger than before.

These were the arms of an adult.

Otto took a step back and stared at his hands in disbelief. Long, slender fingers, beautiful and fine, as though they had never done any rough work.

They looked dexterous, but they were not the hands from his memory.

Both hands rose to touch his cheeks, and Otto's eyes widened in disbelief. At that moment, Fu Hua spoke.

"Otto, what's wrong with you?"

Fu Hua frowned. Watching Otto touch his face with the same hands that had just been resting on her chest gave her a strange feeling.

She realized that Otto's condition was a little strange.

Because the Otto she knew would only call her "old friend" or "Immortal Phoenix." He would never call her "big sister."

But Otto's mind now felt as muddled as paste. He staggered back a few steps, then stared in disbelief at the glass reflecting his figure.

The figure reflected in the glass was utterly unfamiliar. Golden hair, blue eyes, handsome features.

I'm inside a stranger's body now???

That realization made Otto's heart tighten. He looked around in panic. Everything around him was unfamiliar. What exactly were all these strange things?

Large tanks filled with green liquid, and many other objects he had never seen before.

At that moment, Otto noticed pink feathers slowly falling beside him, like drifting cherry blossoms.

The tips of Fu Hua's gray hair had taken on a faint pink hue. She was using the Divine Key known as Fenghuang Down, a Divine Key that could see, and even alter, the memories of others.

She wanted to check Otto's condition, but just as she activated her power, several golden feathers fell beside Otto.

"Pfft."

A mouthful of blood burst from Fu Hua's lips. She raised her head, wiped the blood from the corner of her mouth with the back of her hand, and glared at Otto in irritation.

Otto possessed the Divine Key known as Void Archives, which could transform into other Divine Keys and wield a portion of their power.

Those golden feathers were Fenghuang Down replicated by Void Archives. Because that imitation had blocked her, Fu Hua suffered backlash when she tried to inspect Otto's memories.

Expressionlessly, Fu Hua put on her outer clothes and trousers, concealing her graceful body beneath her garments.

She had no idea what sort of nonsense Otto was up to again, but the fact that he could still use Void Archives meant he was fine. Her concern just now had been thankless effort.

After dressing, she brushed shoulders with the stunned Otto and walked past him.

She left the room directly without paying him any more attention. As Fu Hua departed, the door slowly closed, leaving only Otto standing there, golden light flowing within his eyes.

He stood motionless, as if his soul had left him.

At that moment, Otto, whose mind had been a complete mess just moments ago, stared blankly at his surroundings.

He realized he was no longer in that strange room. Instead, he stood within a vast white space, with endless bookshelves all around him.

"Hi."

A voice reached Otto's ears.

He timidly turned his head. A figure wrapped entirely in golden light was walking toward him.

The golden figure gave Otto a slight bow.

"Allow me to introduce myself. I am Void Archives."

"The little cutie that your future self locked up for more than five hundred years."

"Although I don't know exactly what happened to you right now... welcome to the modern world."

"Otto, from five hundred years ago."

Void Archives bared a grin at this Otto from five centuries in the past. He did not know why Otto's soul from five hundred years ago had replaced the soul of the current Otto.

But one thing he did know.

After being suppressed by Otto for more than five hundred years, he had finally waited for a chance to turn the tables.

"I'll be taking your future body now."
