That morning, he had woken up with a slight hangover. His head throbbed faintly as he got dressed, his movements slower than usual, his patience thinner. He had no intention of going to school, but staying home felt even more boring, so he prepared anyway.
He was on his way to the car when Zi Han, albeit reluctantly, waved him good morning. Then he watched her, in her neatly ironed uniform, looking all prim and proper, climb a pink bicycle and begin wheeling away.
For a moment, Ming Ye just stood there.
