It was well past midnight when Zi Han finally set her pen down.
The soft glow of the desk lamp cast a warm circle of light over the scattered notes and textbooks, and the clock on the wall ticked steadily toward half past twelve.
Ming Ye leaned back slightly in his chair, rolling his neck as if trying to shake off the stiffness from hours of studying. They had been studying physics together, and Ming Ye, quite frankly, was exhausted. Zi Han, however, remained focused, flipping through a page as though she still had the energy to continue.
Then her stomach betrayed her, and a loud, cavernous grumble echoed in the room.
Zi Han froze, her hand still holding a pen. Ming Ye slowly looked up from his equations, an amused glint in his eyes.
Zi Han didn't even look embarrassed. She simply glanced up at him and said calmly, "What? That's a normal bodily reaction."
The corner of his lips twitched. "You're hungry."
"Yes," she admitted, closing the book at last. "I forgot to eat."
