Dinner with Li Wan was quieter than usual, but not in a peaceful way. The restaurant she had chosen was refined without being ostentatious. She had mentioned, almost casually, that it belonged to a friend, that no one connected to Ming Chen would be watching here.
Ming Ye had already verified the document she'd shown him days ago. The restraining order was real.
Li Wan watched him over the rim of her glass, her expression gentle, almost careful. "How are your studies?" she asked, as though trying to rebuild something from the ground up. "And your relationship with that girl… how is that going?"
At the mention of Zi Han, Ming Ye's fingers paused briefly against the table. He didn't answer immediately, his silence stretching just long enough to become noticeable.
Li Wan tilted her head slightly. "Does she know how you feel?"
He pressed his lips together, his gaze lowering for a fraction of a second before he replied, "Yes."
