I watch as time flows backwards. The ivory island comes down from the sky is bound by chains. The sky below gets brighter and brighter as the divine flames that once went put come back to life. Islands float up from the void joining their brothers and sisters.
Wind whips my face. Wait wind why is it so strong.... I'M FALLING! I'm barely able to slow myself down before I hit the grounds Ow god damnation that hurt. I open my mouth to complain but not a sound comes out. I reach to check my throat but I stop. Why am i made of ice!?! I look myself over, I'm made of ice completely.
Also no clothes. Oh no not again. I summon the armor of ash as I get up, my body is a lot heavier. Looking around..... is that the hollow mountains....? Its not too close so I'm not near where the night temple, stands or is it stood. This is the past so stands i guess. That explains the feeling of dread.
I need to figure out where I am. I summon the stained glass wings and I start jumping up on ice platforms. I slowly glide down as I look around the area. Oh god damn it! I don't recognize a damn thing! I slowly landed on the ground looking out at the hollow mountains.
"Woah...."
I turn around seeing a... I'd say late teens early 20s girl staring at me with amazement written all over her face. I jump away putting my arms up ready to make a dagger at a moments notice. She reaches out
"Wait, who are you?"
I stare at her. I point to my mouth
"Hmm? What does that mean....? Oh can you not speak?"
I nod
"Well i don't mind. Those wings of yours are very pretty" oh... oh that's very nice. Well now I'm all embarrassed.
We sit together. I gesture around and then I tilt my head
"Hmm... oh this is the north of the kingdom of hope"
I point at her
"Me? I'm from a nearby military base. We're here to make sure nothing from the mountains is able to attack any nearby villages"
She puts her hand over her heart
"I'm a newly awakened human. My name is velvet, what about ice person?"
Ice person? Okay that's what she's calling me I guess. I try to write it out like singer does
"Huh? I'm sorry i don't understand that language"
I slowly shakes my head and I copy the runes the spells show me for my true name
"Oh dear I don't understand that either"
I lean back laying down.
"Oh I'm sorry. This can't be fun"
I guess I'm going to have to play... what was that games name again?
I rub my hands together and I breathe into them, the thing people do to warm up their hands
"....huh.... warming up your hands....? Does it have to do with warmth?"
I nod
"Okay warmth. Is it the word warmth or something similar?"
I put up a two
"Okay. Heat?"
I nod then I play at looking around
"Mmm. Looking around..."
She thinks for a while
"Oh, is it seeker?"
I nod happily, so at least she'll know my true name.
"So heat seeker! It's nice to meet you heat seeker"
I do a thumbs up she gets up and starts pacing
"So where do you come from? Why are you here? Oh, oh, oh I have so many questions"
She grabs my hands with a truly star struck expression. I can't speak and I've told her that.
"Oh- sorry I know you can't speak"
"So do you have anywhere to stay?"
I shake my head
"oh you could-"
she covers her mouth
"Oh sorry you probably can't come with me to the base"
She sits back down. Yeah I can't come with her. Clearly they wouldn't want some ice statue in their base.
"I don't know where to send you...."
She sighs resting her head on her hand.
"Ill try to get them to accept you but I doubt they will"
She likely doesn't hold much sway so I don't blame her.
"How about you stay outside the base? I'll bring you.... food and water and tons of other stuff from in the base!"
I need to meet up with them others.... but I also need to figure out the goal of this nightmare and other information. Plus where prince landed, wouldn't it be ironic if it was the night temple. I nod she grabs my hands, i wonder why she doesn't mind how cold it am
"Great! I'll bring you stuff from in the base!"
I sit in a tree looking out over the land. I munch on a fruit from my satchel. Why did sunny not tell me about the vision? It's not like him to be that negligent about something so important. Even more so if it's our potential deaths. Is something wrong?
I can't tell. Now for the events of the night temple. Prince's way of lying seems to be a mix of implanting ideas and lies of omission. First one was how he got sunny to go to the night temple in the first place. He simply told him where the ivory knife was and waited. He also made us look suspicious by knowing who and when to kill and who and when not to.
The second one came in with not telling us he was in the Night temple in the first place. If he had told us and simply asked for help, I probably would have helped him. If anything he didn't mention anything about the night temple. He also seemed to be in a real spiteful mood, or maybe he's just like that. More likely it's a mix of both.
"Hey i brought food!"
She runs over a bag over her shoulder. I hop down landing not too far away from her.
"Its soup"
She takes out a, frankly primitive, thermos looking thing. I take it and a spoon she hands me
"....You won't melt.... right?"
I shake my head leaning on the tree and I start eating. It's okay, the texture isn't too bad but the taste isn't too good.
"Its good right...?"
I nod Its okay.
"I'm glad, oh oh maybe you could show off some stuff you can do"
I think for a minute and I shrug maybe I can but why would I.
She holds up my cloak "wow, its like glass yet it can fold, how impressive" she folds it over and over while muttering to herself
"Is it how you fly"
I nod.
"Woah this is quite cool, I've never seen anything like it!"
She seems quite happy. She then starts looking over all of me. She says a lot of stuff, and lot of questions I can't answer, because i can't speak. I zone out, why am I not human? I was a human in my first nightmare.... the main difference between the two is now I have a divine aspect and 3 cores. It's likely that as humans don't normally have more then one so the spell threw me into a body that could deal with 3 cores.
"And this helmet! It's all so impressive"
I lay watching the night sky. I don't normally think about it but, its so much prettier than in NQSC. It's so much brighter. I wonder, how does the spell mimic the night sky so well? The stars are beautiful, its a shame I couldn't see them for so long. It's a shame so many couldn't see this every night. I look over at the base from the hill as the lights go out.
I wake up to loud noises, I look over. All of the lights are back on, but its far later in the night. I extend my heat sense, it seems a fallen demon is approaching the base. I tilt my head summoning the owls eye. Oh I've seen that fallen demon before, there's a few here and there around the Chained Isles. I've even killed a few it shouldn't be too much trouble to take care of it. I summon my gear and I get ready to take care of it.
I slide under it cutting one of its legs, normally i would have cut it off but I'm not very used to...well being completely of ice. I slide to the side almost being crushed. How annoying. It's head snaps to a light that shines on it. I use that to rush forwards getting a good hit, cutting one of its arms off.
These new daggers are pretty darn nice all things considered. Them both being the same throws me off a little but its fine. It screams and swipes at me. I jump up dodging it. As it goes to follow me a arrow hits it right on the shoulder. It's head snaps to the awakened of the base and it rushes to attack them.
Only to get stabbed by me in the eye, I plant two feet on it and I wrench the dagger up and through its head. I hear the spell as it falls to the ground. I think I'm being watched, willy because I've got my heat sense up and there's nobody other then those awakened around. I'll have to get used to this weird body. It's deeply annoying to have to do that.
"By the gods..."
I look back and the group lifts their weapons. A master walks forward with his weapons raised.
"Identify yourself!"
I lift my arms in surrender. That doesn't stop the suspicion they've got. That's when that girl, V runs forward
"Wait! Don't worry this is a non-hostile."
She stands in front of me her arms to the sides protecting me.
"How can you be so sure"
"Because I've met this being, they showed no hostility and allowed me to get close. Heat Seeker isn't hostile to humans"
I tap my foot, maybe I should run? Yeah maybe that's a good idea.
"If that's true why doesn't it speak for itself?"
"They can't speak... they had to make motions to explain their name"
This is a really weird situation.
I sit on a chair in a holding room. She actually got me in, she's being questioned, probably. I stare up at the ceiling because i have nothing to do. From what I can tell it seems thus place has two masters and about 50 awakened in it.
The whole places purpose is just to kill nightmare creatures. Cool I guess. One of the masters walks in. The same one who lead the hunting party. He sits down
"Heat Seeker was it?"
I nod, he's judging me
"Now because of your non hostile actions towards one of my subordinates, I have reason to believe you won't attack if you are allowed to stay here. But listen closely you will be watched by someone at all times, any suspicious activity and you'll be put down."
I nod
"You will stay here and help us until we figure out what to do with you."
I finally look st him, and I shrug.
"Good."
"I got you in!"
V grabs my hands leading me to my new room. More like pulling me if I'm being honest.
"That was so cool, you killed that fallen demon faster then even commander!"
I nod, so that's what people round here call that master.
"Your room is next to mine, because its going to be my job to keep my eyes on you"
I'm not shocked, nobody else probably wants to watch me. She opens the door, the room is pretty small all things considered. "Here it is, your new room, better then staying on the ground, right?" I glance at her and I nod, the room is fine. Still it have my own room. I take out a blanket from my satchel and I get into bed.
"Oh, the demon woke you up, ill go i'm sorry"
She runs off after closing and locking the door.
