I let out a sigh of relief finally leaving the ship. I sit on top of the PTV as it drives off of the ship. Shielder comes out of the hatch.
"Do we start moving?"
I nod
"Well already have a mission to complete so clearly we will need to."
She nods going back inside. It feels weird, to be on a completely different Quadrant. With 2 ascended divine aspect users everything will go quite well! Out of everything I'm sure of that.
"Ascended Heat Seeker the gate seems to be fully open. Do we engage?"
I nod.
"Yes. The gate guardian is out and is a fallen tyrant. I want a portal created above it. You and beast should help act as distractions while fighter and ranger pick off stronger creatures."
She nods and starts giving out orders. Im aware of the rank and class of the guardian because of the memory i got from velvet. When everyone is in place a portal opens and I jump in.
I fall on top of the large tyrant, when I land ice explodes out heavily injuring it. I jump into the air going right above a swipe. I active the enchantment of the halberd as I cut its arm off. The halberd absorbs the blood and when I swing it again it leaves a harsh cut on the tyrant. I land on its head as it tries to throw me off I lift the halberd and I bring it down on its head. I hear the spell say I killed it and I jump into the air almost getting hit.
I toss out 3 out of the 4 ice shards and my echos make their appearances. Flame destroys the creatures easily, chains whip around smashing countless creatures and silk bind even even more. The beasts are whipped into a frenzy by beast while shielder and doll holds them back.
Fighter almost seems to dance around taking off fallen beast heads. Anytime any almost gets a hit a arrow hits them in the eye. Portals appear around the battle field giving any the chance to be in many spots. It doesn't take long for all of the creatures to die.
I land next to them
"Inform army command the gate has been wiped out."
Beast goes inside.
"Good job everyone. Remember this is not a sprint its a marathon."
They all nod
"Say lead those are some... real strong echos"
I nod more then a little prideful
"Yes a corrupted devil, a wrath known as frozen singer, and a awakened tyrant. There's also a fallen monster but that one is mostly aquatic"
Ranger sighs
"Damn, you get lucky a lot"
I shoot them a glare and he backs off.
I nod to doll and I jump into the air. I keep an eye on the approaching army from the air. I stare at one spot then I go back to my cohort.
"Everyone!"
They all glance over
"I believe a gate will open up by the army soon. I want us to move into position to aid them!"
They all look at each other
"Well? Move!"
Everyone scrambles inside and I climb on top. Singer floats over with my satchel having collected all of the fallen soul shards.
We get to the spot right as a gate opens up. I'm not sure fully how or why I knew but I have a idea as to why. I believe it to be because of death gods lineage, it seems to be able to sense corruption. It also seemed to have messed with cold film, it now seems to act as a soul attack against nightmare creatures.
"Everyone in position!"
Everyone gets out, as they do i toss a ascended soul shard to them. Mundane and awakened soldiers scramble to get ready. My ice shards stand at attention.
As the gate guardian comes out I glance back. If I don't do something those soldiers will be killed. Oh fuck it, I summon my old cohort and scout right in front of the line of soldiers. I hear her do the thing saint does? Can they remember what happens when I summon them?
Hm i never considered that. I throw the thoughts out and i rush towards the fallen devil. I slide under a wide swipe cutting into the, oddly human, devil's side. When it tries to stomp my head out I roll to the side nailing the leg to the ground. Singer let's out a scream, still hate it, and it gets horribly disoriented. I take that opportunity to stab it in the head.
I sit down at the communication rig or whatever.
"Hey ■■■■ nice work, your first job too. Not just that but you handled a gate too. Don't be such a overachiever, it will make all of us look bad"
I wave my hand
"The only reason I'm able to do so much is because I don't use much essence"
J nods
"Well good luck and all that. Don't die"
I sigh
"If I was going to die then I'd have died on the forgotten shores."
She laughs
"Well sure this time you have a real army"
I sour a little at that.
I start uncontrollably laughing beast pops over and I point to the screen, showing saint
"Oh shit mongrel"
I laugh even harder
"Uh boss?"
I slowly calm down
"Don't tell anyone but I know mongrel personally and all that"
He straightens up
"Well i mean it isn't too hard to guess.... are you two from the same fallen clan or maybe are you the bastard children of nightwalker? We all know how that guy loved to sleep around"
He elbows me
"Huh? No its neither. We met at the forgotten shores"
He lights up
"Oh so mongrel is caster."
I stop laughing
"No. That was stupid."
He puts his hands up
"Okay okay hint taken"
He nudges me
"So what kind of relationship you have with the guy then?"
I shrug
"I'd say younger sibling, older sibling"
He looks surprised
"Mongrel is older then you?"
I shake my head
"No he's younger"
We move out again this time we will be helping a saint out. Wonder who it will be. I'll be able to meet up with sunny and J again too! Hell yeah.
"Hey ■■■■ number one, do you have any food?"
Fighter leans her head on a desk a distant look on their face. I'm starting to think their flaw may be being hair headed. I dig in my bag handing her a snack pack. I brought a lot of snacks.
We finally get there after sunny does.
"So heat seeker, what are we doing now?"
I glance over
"Helping a saint deal with a rank 3 gate"
I leave the PTV and I walk over to sunny, J and another captain.
"You're just on time too heat seeker. The Saint should be arriving any moment now, too."
Thats when a strong wind picks up and saint Tyris appears. Its her!
I smile its her! Yay! My favorite saint! "Saint Tyris? What... what are you doing here?"
She glances at sunny and a almost unnoticeable smile creeps up
"Master Sunless... it is good to see you again. I am glad to find you in good health. As for why I am here, isn't it obvious? I have come to hunt the beast."
Sunny being sunny shifts around very awkwardly
"No... uh... I meant why are you here, in Antarctica?"
I shake my head isn't it clear?
"White Feather clan has been tasked with supporting the evacuation effort in the Southern Quadrant."
I wave at her as I walk over
"Its been some time, i have you have been in good help saint Tyris"
She glances over at me
"Yes i have been in good health thank you ascended Heat Seeker."
