I watch as Saint Tyris summons a javelin and throws it. Unfortunately it doesn't kill the corrupted tyrant. She turns into her transcendent form, a massive bird and the fight starts. I lift my shield as the flood of awakened and fallen abominations rush towards us. The ranged fighters start shooting into the mass of creatures. With my free hand I toss daggers into the eyes of the approaching creatures.
I see J go flying over the company and the mass of abominations and she attacks a corrupted abominations. Even without cutting the shell the abomination ends up dead. Soul reaper really is quite the accurate name.
She is really cool, one has to wonder why she joined the government. With how controlling and inefficient they can really be. But hey thats just my opinion on things and I haven't been in the government for long anyways.
The wave of nightmare creatures smash into the shields. I slide back a bit at the force of it. Damn ugly insects! Flame stomps its head in. Glowing red ice appears in the middle of the swarm, as it hits the carapace of a fallen beast it explodes put in a wave of flames. Many more explosions go off killing countless creatures.
A wind so hard it could be from a hurricane, or so from what I've read, whips around us as singer goes to aid Saint Tyris. Countless tiny dormant spiders swarm the creatures getting into any and all wounds. Others are caught by razor like silk.
I jump into the air as the ground opens up under me. The ground around it erupts with ice around it. I land back on the ice ground.
Oh there goes sunny, he dragged down. He will get out, its sunny. I swing my halberd cutting a awakened monster in half. Another attacks my back but its stopped by a shield made of ice and a ice halberd kills it. The area is lit by small balls of light, some getting brighter to blind creatures as a sword comes down on them.
I glance up watching at the jade queen falls
"Huh."
No time for that! I duck under another attack using my hands, or claws I guess, to rip its head right off. I keep swiping, sometimes I lift the shield others i use the halberd. I'm almost thrown off my feet as something heavy hits the ground. I use one of the creatures to stabilize myself. I then put a hand into its head. Fighter jumps on another's head in her dance like fighting style using her weird sword and threads to cut them to pieces.
I look back briefly
"Pfft"
Even in such darkness I can kinda see sunny in his mongrel fit fighting like hell, rock on man, rock on. Also I will not be beaten like this! I send out a wave from my halberd, lucky me my fighting style doesn't normally use much essence, plus having 3 cores and all helps a lot. I notice the bugs get a lot less coordinated, the jade queen is dead.
When its finally done. I stand over sunny
"You not dead, yet."
He shakes his head
"I not dead yet."
We stare at each other
"Why are you talking like that?"
I flop down next to him
"I don't know. I'm tired."
He shrugs
"Me too"
He lays there for a bit before snickering
"Devil?"
I think for a few seconds. Yeah that is what they where calling him from what i saw. Thats.... really funny.
"Hey i got a transcendent memory"
That doesn't make sense none of the corrupted creatures where there.... oh the tyrant did fall there, so maybe he got a lucky shot in
"You killed the jade queen?"
He looks over confused
"Yes and you know its name?"
I nod as I tap the monocle i had put as a pocket watch
"This baby shows the runes of anything I want. Even people"
I can see the gears turning in his head
"Lucky"
I beam. I turn my head up at one of the other captains walking over. We nod to each other and she hugs sunny? Oh that was mentioned wasn't it?
I stand over my cohort as they talk about sunny, or mongrel as they call him. "And what are you talking about?" The whole group jumps a little.
"Oh hey boss just talking about mongrel and all that"
He looks away.
"Yeah okay."
They stay silent before fighter speaks with that soft not paying any attention tone
"I heard you and sunless are both from the forgotten shores"
Oh yeah that whole thing portal lights up
"Ih I heard you're close with caster"
I sour from a good mood
"Was."
They catch the hint well most do, or maybe beast simply does not care
"I heard you met one of the song sisters, was she as hot as I've heard?"
My squad moves out. We are to help with one of the cities. I can't remember its name, but it had been having some problems and we where sent to help it out. Its not as big as Falcon, of course, or that... era... the field one but its of a okay size. I lay in my bed
"You two need to be more civil before you wake ascended Heat seeker."
"Oh come on heat seeker is tired, did you see how many of those bugs they killed?"
I hear beast laugh
"Or how many those echos killed? Can't believe their right outside running with us"
Ranger cuts in a tone thats suggests a lot
"Could you not talk about those things. The spider creeps me out"
Fighter sighs
"That flying one seems nice if a little cold"
"Commander is awake you all know that right?"
The rhino, as sunny very insistanlly called it and made me call it, comes to a stop finally within the walls of the city. Me and doll nod to each other, they'll deal with the people I'll keep an eye on the walls and situation outside to make sure nothing happens. I get out
"Beast and shielder go help with the technical problems. Ranger and rogue go help the injured. Portal and fighter you'll be the first to rest. In 4 hours there will be a swap off."
Everyone salutes
"Right on boss"
"Loud and clear ascended heat seeker"
"Understood lead."
"Yeah okay heat seeker"
