Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: The Hunter and The Hunted

"Don't be ridiculous, Toro III would tear you apart in seconds." Celeste said to Leona's claim.

"I agree a battle with any of the Fernandez clan should be avoided if possible." Ren said.

"How can we avoid fighting them if my goal is to kill Toro Fernandez to avenge my village?" Leona asked.

"That may be your goal but it was never mine. I'm only interested in getting to the bottom of that situation."

"So you don't care about my goals?"

"That's not exactly what I meant."

"So tell me, what exactly do you mean?"

"That's enough, we don't have time for your personal problems. We have company." Celeste said.

Suddenly they all realized that their ship was being followed, though their pursuers were too far away for them to see what kind of vessel it was.

"Do you think we could lose them?" Leona asked as she momentarily put aside her problems with Ren.

"Yeah probably. It seems like a pretty big ship so we should be faster than them. Still it's better to be safe than sorry. Everyone buckle in, I'm about to put this thing into top gear." Ren said as he lost sight of their pursuers after shifting the ship into its top speed.

The group had landed in an attempt to hunker down in case their pursuers were still on the lookout for them. While they had a chance to catch their breath, they shifted their focus onto their next moves.

"Our next destination should be Earth. It's Toro's hometown, we should be able to gather valuable intel there." Ren said.

"I agree, but it might be difficult to there. I have some contacts on Earth. I might be able to pull some strings to get us there." Celeste said. "In order to do so I'd have to be able to move more freely though. Which means that I'd have to leave you two here."

"I wouldn't mind that." Leona snapped quickly.

"I personally don't like the idea of splitting up right now, but if it's really necessary then do what you have to." Ren said, and Celeste made her exit from the group.

"What do you want her to stay for? You actually like having her around or something?" Leona asked in an accusatory tone.

"Not particularly, I just don't trust her yet. It's better to keep someone like that within arm's reach so we can keep an eye on her." Ren replied calmly.

"Hmph, I'm not sure if I can even trust YOU." Leona thought.

"What are you two discussing? I hope you don't mind me butting into your conversation." A voice said as a man in a white military uniform emerged from the forest.

"What? Where did he come from? I didn't sense him at all!" Ren thought as he took a defensive posture.

"What's wrong? Were you having a private moment?" The man asked with feigned ignorance.

"W-Who are you?" Leona asked.

"Well, since you asked. I have the honor of being a Vice Admiral in the Vercheg Navy. My name, is Tigre Fernandez. I'm looking for the fools who are trying to kill my grandfather." He said as he cracked his knuckles. "You wouldn't know anything about that would you?"
