Kate kept on looking at the status panel that just appeared while trying to understand what was happening.
Apparently, that panel was a gacha system she has somehow awoken to help her in her magic.
What the system does is drawing any anime female characters that was dead. Then When using her take over magic, Kate can transform into that character to have their power and abilities.
It's like playing Genshin Impact. Except she needs to belong to a guild to for it to be active. Moreover, apart from getting monthly free draws, she can also get experience points to raise her level by doing guild missions, each having it's own number of points.
Errands reward 1 exp point accending depending on difficulty.
Monster subjugation reward 2 exp point accending depending on the difficulty ( also for each target should there be more than one).
Protection from common thugs or hunting common thugs reward 3 exp point for each target.
Protection from experienced thugs or hunting experienced thugs reward 4 exp point for each target.
Protection from elite thugs or hunting elite thugs reward 5 exp point for each target.
Protection from legendary thugs or hunting legendary thugs reward 6 exp point for each target.
Research and mystery solving reward 7 exp points accending depending on the difficulty.
Normally, that wouldn't be much of a problem as she keeps getting new characters especially the monthly one, if the problem wasn't from the characters she might gain.
From what she learned, there are 4 different card color, with each color representing a rank.
The first is the bronze card which represents c-ranks or common category. They are just ordinary women with enhanced skills or abilities, nothing else. They are hardly focus on since the anime and manga itself consider them as background characters not worth knowing and are so common, Kate can draw them in every draw.
Next is the silver card representing b-ranks or rare category. They are superior to c-ranks due to either their advanced skills and abilities or their greater experience. They are well known for a specific situation hence, being the reason they are rare. Due to that, Kate believe she has a 1 out of 10 chance of getting one.
The golden card representing the A-rank or epic category are the next level. They are the oneman army, elite warriors and ultimate combatants. Unlike the former two, the A-rank can handle any enemy under any condition. They are considered hardcore not only because they are powerful, but also because they are hard to kill. For Kate, characters like them have a 1 out of 100 chance of being drawn.
And finally is the diamond card representing the S-rank or legendary category. They are known to be top of the food chain. So powerful that their mere presence alone seals their opponent fate. With an attack that can wipe out armies like it's nothing it's no wonder they are the final boss. And if the A-rank women are known to be beasts, this ones are known to be goddess. So it's not surprising that their chance of being drawn are 1 out of 1000.
So if she's lucky, she could draw a silver card once a year, a golden card once a decade and a diamond card once a century.
But she couldn't to wait that long, especially knowing that her family must be searching for her.
Which is why she decided to gain more points by doing missions. The more points she gains, the higher her level, and the greater the chance of getting a higher tier character.
"Time to get to work." She told herself as she went to the request board for missions. Mira already gave her a tour, then told her to take her time getting to know the place better. But Kate didn't wanted to wait, she needed to gather as much points as she can at soon as possible. Besides, she's completely broke as she didn't have anything on her when she transmigrated, so she needed money to at least rent a room and get something to eat.
The requests, unfortunately, didn't have any clear grading. Thankfully, the system managed to set their ranks based on their reward.
The c-ranks were from 100,000j to 500,000j and have only the basic points.
The b-ranks were from 500,000j to 1,000,000j and have the basic points doubled should she complete a bonus objective.
The A-ranks were from 1,000,000j accending and have the basic points tripled should she complete a bonus objective.
As for the S-ranks? They were found in the upper floor, and could only be accessed by S-ranks mages.
"So the ones below the c-ranks aren't worth any points." She concluded as she skimmed through those said requests.
Finding lost pets,
Cleaning houses,
Babysitting kids,
Weeding gardens,
Those requests sounded no different than those d-rank missions from that ninja anime.
"Yeah, no thanks. I'm not going through that same shit Naruto went. No matter what." She promised herself as she decided to focus on her personal objective: which request should she complete first?
So far, her options are to either eliminate some vulcans, wipe out some bandits or search for a runaway girl.
The search is on the research category, which is worth 7 exp points. But it's only one girl, and she doesn't know much about this world, so it's not worth it.
Vulcans were always known to hunt in packs, but weren't that much of a challenge to professional mages. And their numbers are the only thing that makes up for their low exp points.
Which leave to the bandits.
Their combat skills could be versatile, and finding them wouldn't take much effort.
Besides, the reward is settled on b-rank, which means;
1: They may be experienced, which may give her 4 exp points each,
2: They will be easy to take care of, as her template Acier is an A-rank, making this mission a child play and,
3: The reward was 800,000j, which was too tempting to resist.
"Bandits it is." Kate chooses the bandits wiping out request then went to Mira to submit it. "I'll take this job please."
Mira was surprised to see Blake has chosen a job so soon. "Are you sure you want to start working on your first day? You can get familiar with the guild first." She asked, concerned.
Blake politely declined. "Maybe another time. Right now I need money to at least rent a place to sleep and buy food to eat. Maybe after I'm stable, I can use my free time to get to know the people around here." Not like she's planning on staying here for good. As soon as she gets a chance, she's going home.
In response, Mira cuped both her cheeks and started lamenting in a dramatic fashion. "Oh! My little sister Blakey is growing up so fast, I didn't even have time to be the big sister! Uwuwuwuwu." She covered her face and turned around to cry.
"What the.....!? Come on Mira, stop it!" Blake panicked and tried to stop Mira from crying. But it was no use as the receptionist was behind the counter and many people were looking at her way.
'Oohh! What do I do? What do I do?' she questioned as she looked around, trying to figure out anything convincing. Unfortunately, she got nothing. 'Ah, screw it.'
Blake slammed her hands on the desk, ignoring the pain. "IF YOU STOP CRYING, THEN I PROMISE I'LL BE YOUR LITTLE SISTER!"
The entire guildhall was quiet as everyone was paying attention to Blake declaration. But she didn't care. Her entire focus was on calming down the weeping woman.
"Really?" Mira asked, pausing between sobs.
"But I'll still need to take missions."
"Can we make it once a week?"
"Too far. Once a day will do. " Blake bargained. "And I still get to choose the missions."
"But, I wanna...." Mira was about to cry again when Blake compromised. "Fine! Any job you choose that is above the pay of 100,000j is okay for me. Is that ok!?"
"Okay! If that's what you want? Then I won't force you." Mira attitude did a complete 180 as she smiled once again like she didn't have any crisis.
Blake couldn't help but feel her eye twitch. She pointed at the culprit who is responsible. "You... You..."
"Huh? Is something wrong little sister?" Mira innocent tone putted the final nail to the coffin as everyone started laughing at the 'offender'. Blake face went red in embarrassment as she realized that everyone heard about her declaration.
'Mirajane Strauss. The nicest member and wifu of fairy tail. (Scorf). As if.' She then looked at the 'victim' who was still giving that warm, friendly smile. 'I don't care what Hinata or anyone says. For me, she's a real demon!'
