Kiara's POV
Later that night, Kiara sat alone in her room.
The hospital lights still haunted her mind.
But another question had begun to grow inside her.
Her father.
Rajveer.
There was one person who might know the truth.
Chacha.
She dialed the number slowly.
"Hello, beta," he answered.
"Chacha… it's Kiara."
His voice softened.
"Kiara. How are you?"
She didn't answer that question.
Instead she asked the one she had carried for years.
"How did my father really die?"
"In the Kargil war," Chacha replied.
Kiara swallowed.
"Did he die from his injuries?"
Silence.
Then Chacha spoke again.
"No."
Kiara's breath caught.
"The post-mortem report showed slow poison in his body."
The phone nearly slipped from her hand.
"Poison?"
"Yes."
Kiara's mind spun.
Her father hadn't died in battle.
Someone had murdered him.
And no one had ever found the killer.
As Kiara walked out of the room, one terrifying realization echoed in her mind.

Someone had killed him.
