Aboard the World Engine.
General Zod sat upon the command throne, his expression dark and unreadable. Moments earlier, the holographic transmission channel had been shut down, the stream of data fading into silence.
For a long moment, the chamber remained quiet.
Then Zod's fist slowly tightened.
"That insolent brat."
His voice, normally controlled and emotionless, carried a rare trace of anger.
"This captain truly doesn't know his place. Standing before the supreme military commander of Krypton, he doesn't even understand the meaning of respect."
Around him, several Kryptonian officers immediately voiced their agreement.
"That captain is far too arrogant."
"And what nonsense was that we just heard? He claimed he wiped out an entire Kree fleet by himself."
One officer scoffed openly.
"Hmph. That's pure fantasy."
Another soldier shook his head dismissively.
"Maybe the destruction of Krypton broke his mind. Losing an entire civilization could drive anyone insane."
A ripple of mocking laughter spread through the chamber.
None of them believed Yun Chen's claim.
In their eyes, it was nothing more than exaggerated boasting.
Their confidence had a clear foundation. As subordinates of General Zod—the supreme military commander of the Kryptonian Empire—they represented the core strength of Krypton's once-dominant army.
Destroying a fleet was not something a single captain could accomplish.
After all, rank and genetics defined limits.
A captain was still a captain. No matter how talented he might be, the ceiling of his strength had already been decided by his genetic classification.
In their minds, no amount of effort could ever allow him to surpass the elite commanders standing in this chamber.
"That mouth of his is certainly impressive," another officer said with a sneer.
"But when it comes time to appear in the Tianling Star Region, I doubt he'll dare show his face."
General Zod suddenly stood.
"That doesn't matter."
His eyes were cold and sharp.
"Because I've decided something."
The room grew quiet.
"I will personally hunt him down."
Zod clenched his fist tightly as he spoke.
"Let's see whether his body is tougher… or mine."
…
At the same time, far across the galaxy—
The Large Magellanic Cloud.
Planet Hala.
This world was the home planet of the Kree Empire, one of the three dominant interstellar powers. Inside the empire's military command center, a group of high-ranking generals had gathered around a large holographic display.
"Take a look," one officer said.
"This is the individual responsible for destroying one of our fleets."
The projection activated.
The final combat recording transmitted before the fleet's destruction began playing across the screen.
Everyone present frowned as the footage unfolded.
On the display, a single figure tore through the star field like a falling comet. The man smashed directly through multiple warships, using nothing but his own body to sink entire vessels.
Even more shocking was the power of his eyes.
A pair of freezing beams shot across space again and again, destroying ships even from beyond visual range.
"Interesting," someone muttered.
What captured their attention was not only Yun Chen's overwhelming offensive power but also his resilience.
The footage clearly showed that he had endured repeated artillery bombardment from the fleet.
Yet he had remained completely unharmed.
"I didn't expect that even after the fall of the Kryptonian Empire, someone this powerful could still exist," one Kree general said quietly.
"Hmph."
A deep voice interrupted the room.
"I'll deal with him personally."
Everyone turned toward the speaker.
The man standing there was tall and powerfully built, his figure radiating overwhelming strength.
Ronan the Accuser.
He was one of the Supreme Accusers of the Kree Empire, one of the highest-ranking figures within their military hierarchy.
"I've been waiting for war for a long time," Ronan said, his voice heavy with aggression.
His eyes burned with a crimson fury.
"I will personally capture this surviving Kryptonian."
The surrounding generals exchanged brief glances.
They knew Ronan well.
He was a pure war fanatic.
Peace had never interested him.
Not long ago, the Kree Empire had signed a peace treaty with the planet Xandar. Ronan had been furious at the decision and had openly expressed his desire to ignore the agreement and attack Xandar regardless.
Because of that, sending Ronan to hunt the Kryptonian might actually be beneficial. It would give his violent temperament somewhere else to focus.
"Very well," one of the commanders finally said.
"Then this mission will be yours."
No one raised any serious objections.
However, another Supreme Accuser present frowned slightly. He understood Ronan's personality far too well and worried that the situation might spiral out of control.
Ignoring Ronan's displeasure, the official continued speaking.
"My subordinate will accompany you as well. This mission cannot be allowed to fail."
Ronan's expression darkened immediately.
"Hmph."
"So now you're sending useless weaklings to walk beside me?"
His tone was filled with contempt.
"If you have complaints," the official replied calmly, "you can take them up with Captain Marvel."
At that name, Ronan's pupils shrank suddenly.
His expression stiffened.
"…Her."
The image of a blonde woman flashed through his mind.
…
Two days later.
Reconnaissance vessel Aquarius.
Ever since the destruction of the Kree fleet and the tense conversation with General Zod, the ship had been moving steadily toward the Tianling Star Region.
At Adjutant Lilith's strong insistence, Yun Chen had finally agreed to undergo a full medical examination.
The medical officer Lucine stood beside the diagnostic scanner, her expression filled with amazement.
"You truly have broken through the genetic chain," she said slowly.
"This is no longer the genetic profile of a standard Kryptonian soldier."
Her eyes remained fixed on the constantly shifting biological data displayed on the monitor.
"In fact, your genetic sequence is changing continuously. It's almost as if your body is evolving in real time."
Lucine shook her head in disbelief.
"My god… your cells are unbelievably active. They behave like living spirits."
"That level of vitality makes your physical strength comparable to a prehistoric beast."
She paused before adding another observation.
"And Captain… your body has reached an incredible level of durability."
"The blades forged on Krypton might not even be able to cut through your skin."
Yun Chen listened quietly.
At the same time, he studied Lucine with a hint of amusement.
Compared to Lilith's calm and intellectual elegance, Lucine possessed a far more striking presence. Her tall figure and pronounced curves stood out sharply beside Lilith's slender frame.
Having such a medical officer examining him was certainly not unpleasant.
"Captain," Lucine continued, still sounding worried.
"Based on your current physical data… defeating General Zod may not actually be impossible."
Yun Chen had kept his word.
After the conversation with Zod, he had immediately ordered the Aquarius to set course for the Tianling Star Region.
A confrontation seemed inevitable.
The tension aboard the ship had grown steadily during the journey.
According to their planned route, the vessel would reach the Tianling Star Region in less than two days once they completed their next spatial transition.
But suddenly—
An alarm sounded.
A crew member rushed into the room.
"Captain!"
His voice carried clear urgency.
"The World Engine is extremely close to our position."
"It's moving directly toward us!"
