The day of the school festival finally arrived. The whole school looked different. Colorful papers and lights were everywhere. Music was playing in the hallways. Students were running around and preparing their stalls.
Our class made a small cafe. We sold snacks and drinks to visitors.
Purmodo was walking around the classroom.
"Clean that table," he said.
"And bring more cups!!
Aarihito laughed.
"You are acting like a class precedent."
Purmodo smiled proudly.
Meanwhile, I was standing near the door. I was waiting for someone.
Then I saw her.
Ritou was walking toward the classroom. She was wearing a simple festival outfit. Her hair moved gently in the wind.
My heart started beating faster.
"You look nice. today," I said quietly.
Ritu smiled.
"Thank you !"
Soon many students came into the cafe. Ritou and I worked together.
Sometimes our hands touched by accident. Both of us looked away shyly.
Hours passed quickly. Soon the festival started to end.
The sky slowly became dark. Lights were glowing around the school yard. Students were laughing and taking pictures.
Ritou and I walked outside together. We stopped near the playground.
Soft music was coming from the stage.
"It was fun day," Ritou said.
"Yes", I replied.
For a moment, neither of us spoke.
Then Ritou gently held my hand.
I felt surpised, but I smiled.
We stood there quietly and watching the lights.
That night became another beautiful memory in my high school life.
