Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

"It's fine, Boss. We've already rested long enough. Waiting a little longer doesn't matter. Just give us the project already, or I'm afraid I won't even be able to pay next month's bank loan."

After seeing the relaxed expression on their boss's face, one of the more senior researchers in the group immediately joked along.

Although they were on monthly salaries, that was only their base pay. The real money came from project bonuses.

And for quite a long time before this, the projects they had received were all small ones. By the end, there had even been several months when they had not gotten a single project at all.

But this time, judging from their boss's expression, they naturally believed that this project was definitely anything but ordinary.

"Don't worry, everyone. This time, I have a heavyweight project in hand. What I can promise is that if we successfully complete it, your year-end bonus will absolutely be a number beyond your imagination. Doubling your monthly salary won't even be a problem."

Looking at the researchers in front of him, although none of them were top-tier giants in the industry, every single one of them had been recruited by him with high salaries, so Killian understood them very well. As a result, he began painting an enormous future for them without hesitation.

Sure enough.

After hearing Killian's words, everyone was instantly stunned, followed by overwhelming excitement.

At that moment, each of them seemed to see their near future already overflowing with stacks of cash, beautiful women, luxury cars, and lavish mansions, as if every one of those things was beckoning to them.

Clap! Clap! Clap!

But before they could continue fantasizing, Killian's applause pulled them back to reality.

"These are the directions each of you will be responsible for. From now on, each team will handle its own assignment."

"Group A, Roman Bell, you and your team will mainly be responsible for producing the ethylene resin outer shell. You need to ensure both high elasticity and stretchability, while also guaranteeing puncture resistance and safety. The design draft is here. In the end, I intend for the finished material to function like something similar to a balloon."

"But this also needs to be brought into the daily lives of the general public, so this part must be handled with extreme care. Understood?"

Looking at the senior lead researcher of Group A, Killian spoke earnestly.

To be honest, among all the components that made up Baymax, aside from the chip he would personally handle, this was the most important part.

After all, in any country, safety standards were taken extremely seriously, and nowhere more so than in the United States. It could be said that if there were any problem with your product that caused even the slightest injury to a child, you would face endless lawsuits and compensation claims.

"Don't worry, Boss. There absolutely won't be any problems on my side."

After receiving the materials from Killian, Roman Bell saw that although the process on paper did not appear overly complicated, the safety issue was clearly the top priority. As a developer himself, he understood that very well. So after only a brief look, he immediately assured Killian.

After handing over Baymax's external material work to the experienced Group A, Killian then looked toward Groups B and C in the R&D department and distributed the drafts he had already prepared to their respective team leaders as well.

There were three teams in total, A, B, and C, responsible respectively for the ethylene resin outer shell, the carbon fiber frame, and the power motors.

As for the hyperspectral camera and the intelligent chip, Killian would mainly handle those himself.

He still did not have the Neural Control Chip. Although these people had followed him for quite a long time and could mostly be ruled out as spies, he was not someone who would place his wealth and life in other people's hands.

"Alright, everyone now has their own task. I only have one requirement for all of you, complete it with quality, quantity, and high efficiency. I can put it this way, the speed of your completion is inversely proportional to the thickness of your bonus. The faster you finish, the bigger your bonus."

"Alright, get to work."

After painting the final grand picture for everyone, Killian waved his hand and walked straight outside.

The section he was responsible for had been arranged in the innermost area.

He was preparing to begin work on Baymax's final two core components, the pseudo-artificial intelligence chip and the hyperspectral camera capable of scanning the human body.

Since the materials had already been prepared long ago, once Killian entered the lab, he immediately began research on the hyperspectral camera.

And no one would have imagined that in the new year, inside a single laboratory, a medical robot that would usher in an entirely new era of the future was about to be born.

...

In the blink of an eye, a month passed quietly.

Before anyone realized it, the whole of America had entered the festive excitement of the New Year.

At this moment, everyone was at home enjoying the warmth of family and intimate reunions with their loved ones.

But inside the startup park in Miami, there existed one company that was completely different.

The entire building was brightly lit, and every single person was busy with their own work.

It was as if all the outside noise and celebration had nothing to do with this place.

And in the underground laboratory beneath the building, a group of researchers in white lab coats stared fixedly at the red metal storage case placed in the center of the laboratory.

Inside the control room beside it, Killian was equally focused as he watched everything inside.

"Boss, equipment calibration complete. Program stable."

"Voltage stable."

"Main control panel normal."

As several researchers inside the lab solemnly reported that the parts they were responsible for had all been calibrated and were functioning normally, the atmosphere grew even more tense.

"Begin startup."

After hearing their reports, Killian spoke calmly.

Click.

The moment Killian's words fell, the programmers operating inside immediately began powering up the system, transferring data, and launching the program.

As one layer of authorization after another was officially approved, the red metal storage case in the center of the lab suddenly began opening automatically.

Then, a nearly flattened balloon-like figure began inflating at a speed visible to the naked eye. In only a few seconds, a round, chubby form appeared before everyone's eyes.

Then, under the astonished gazes of the crowd, it briefly looked around its surroundings before stepping out of the suitcase beneath its feet and touching the floor of the laboratory for the first time.

"Hello, could you introduce yourself?"

At that moment, Killian's voice echoed through the laboratory.

"Hello, Boss. I am Baymax."

"Your personal healthcare companion, developed by AIM."

"I have detected an injury caused by a sharp object on your body. May I provide medical treatment for you?"

After hearing Killian's voice, Baymax, using voice recognition, immediately responded. But when it noticed Killian entering with an injury on his arm, it could not help but ask at once.
