Chapter 24 - Frozen Mountain Temple

Chapter 24

 A Warrior from the Storm

The snowstorm had not stopped.

Even after the fall of the Snow Giant, the Frozen Mountains remained restless.

The wind howled louder than before.

Snow spiraled endlessly across the sky, turning the entire mountain into a white battlefield.

Ran, Mariya, and Aarav stood together, catching their breath after the intense fight.

But something felt… wrong.

Too quiet.

Too still.

Mariya looked around carefully.

"The beasts disappeared… but I don't feel safe."

Ran nodded.

"Yeah… this isn't over."

Aarav suddenly tightened his grip on his spear.

His sharp eyes scanned the darkness beyond the storm.

"They're still here."

Before anyone could react—

A low growl echoed from the shadows.

Then another.

And another.

Dozens of glowing blue eyes appeared again in the storm.

Ice Wolves.

But this time—

They were different.

Their bodies looked darker.

Their ice seemed corrupted.

Cracks of black energy ran through their frozen forms.

Mariya stepped back slightly.

"These aren't normal beasts…"

Aarav's voice turned serious.

"They've been affected by dark energy."

Ran's eyes narrowed.

"Victor…"

The wolves slowly circled them again.

But this time, their movements were more aggressive.

More dangerous.

More controlled.

As if something was guiding them.

Then suddenly—

All the wolves attacked at once.

They rushed forward like a wave of destruction.

Ran raised his sword instantly.

"Here we go again!"

But before they could clash—

A powerful voice echoed through the storm.

"STEP BACK!"

The voice was strong.

Commanding.

It cut through the wind like thunder.

For a split second—

Everything froze.

Then—

A flash of bright blue light shot across the battlefield.

WHOOSH!

One of the attacking wolves stopped mid-air.

Its body instantly froze solid.

CRACK!

The wolf shattered into pieces before hitting the ground.

Ran's eyes widened.

"What the—?!"

Another flash of blue energy cut through the storm.

Two more wolves were frozen instantly.

The remaining beasts stopped.

They stepped back, growling nervously.

Even they were afraid.

Mariya looked toward the cliff above them.

A figure stood there.

Surrounded by glowing ice particles.

The wind itself seemed to move around him.

Then—

The figure jumped.

He landed smoothly on the snow-covered ground.

CRASH!

A soft shockwave spread outward.

The snow around him cleared instantly.

Ran, Mariya, and Aarav stared at him.

The mysterious warrior slowly stood up.

He wore armor made of shining ice crystals.

Every piece of it reflected the cold blue light of the storm.

In his hand—

A long spear glowing with pure icy energy.

His presence was powerful.

Cold.

And calm.

The warrior looked at the beasts.

His voice was steady.

"You shouldn't be here."

The corrupted wolves growled.

But they did not attack.

Instead—

They slowly backed away.

Then disappeared into the storm.

Just like that.

The battlefield became silent again.

Mariya stepped forward carefully.

"Who… are you?"

The warrior turned toward them.

His eyes were sharp but not hostile.

"My name is Aarav."

Ran blinked in confusion.

He looked at the Aarav standing beside him… then back at the new warrior.

"Wait… what?"

The new warrior spoke again.

"I guard these mountains."

The original Aarav (their companion) narrowed his eyes.

There was tension in the air.

Two warriors.

Same name.

Same power.

But completely different presence.

Mariya looked surprised.

"You're… human?"

The new Aarav nodded slowly.

"Yes."

"But not like you."

The wind picked up again.

Snow began swirling faster around them.

Ran crossed his arms.

"Alright… this is getting confusing."

He stepped forward slightly.

"But if you protect the mountains…"

"Then we're on the same side."

For a moment—

The mysterious warrior said nothing.

Then his expression turned serious.

"If Victor reaches the temple first…"

His voice became colder.

"The Frozen World will fall."

The wind howled louder as his words echoed through the mountains.

Mariya felt a chill run through her body.

Not from the cold—

But from the warning.

Something far worse than the beasts was coming.

And this warrior knew it.

The Secret of the Ice Warrior

The storm continued to rage around them.

Snow spiraled violently through the air, but now… something had changed.

The battlefield felt heavier.

Tenser.

Because now—

There were two Aaravs standing face to face.

Ran looked from one to the other, clearly confused.

"Okay… I'm not the only one seeing this, right?"

Mariya shook her head slowly.

"No… there are definitely two of them."

The Aarav who had been traveling with them stepped forward first.

His ice spear glowed faintly.

"Who are you?" he asked coldly.

The mysterious Ice Warrior did not react immediately.

Instead, he calmly planted his spear into the ground.

A faint wave of cold energy spread outward.

Then he spoke.

"I am the original guardian of these mountains."

Silence fell.

The wind howled softly between them.

Ran raised an eyebrow.

"Original?"

The warrior nodded.

"Yes."

"Long before the Ice Temple was sealed… I was chosen to protect it."

Mariya's eyes widened slightly.

"That means…"

The Aarav beside them tightened his grip.

"…he's older than me."

The Ice Warrior looked at him directly.

"You carry the same power."

"But your energy is incomplete."

Those words hit hard.

The traveling Aarav frowned.

"What do you mean?"

The warrior slowly stepped closer.

"The Ice Temple creates guardians."

"Every generation… a new protector is born."

He paused.

"But when the temple was sealed… something went wrong."

The wind suddenly grew colder.

Mariya could feel her crystal reacting again.

A strange resonance filled the air.

The warrior continued.

"My soul… was trapped inside the temple."

"And a fragment of my power escaped."

He looked at the Aarav standing with them.

"That fragment… became you."

Everything went silent.

Ran blinked in disbelief.

"Wait… so you're saying…"

"You're both the same person?"

Mariya whispered,

"One is the original… and one is a fragment…"

The truth was shocking.

The traveling Aarav stepped back slightly.

His expression changed.

Confusion.

Anger.

And something deeper.

"So… I'm just a part of you?"

The Ice Warrior shook his head.

"No."

"You are your own person now."

"But your power is incomplete."

A cold wind passed between them.

The tension was rising.

Ran stepped forward quickly.

"Alright, enough identity crisis."

He looked at both of them seriously.

"Right now, we have a bigger problem."

"Victor."

At the mention of that name—

The atmosphere changed instantly.

The Ice Warrior's expression darkened.

"Yes."

"He is the reason the beasts were corrupted."

Mariya clenched her crystal tightly.

"So it was him…"

The warrior nodded.

"His dark energy has already reached the temple."

"If we don't stop him…"

He looked toward the distant mountains.

"The Ice Temple will fall under his control."

Aarav (the fragment) stepped forward again.

His voice was now stronger.

"Then we fight."

The Ice Warrior looked at him for a long moment.

Then… he nodded.

"Good."

"Because to defeat Victor…"

"Both of us must become one again."

Ran blinked.

"Wait… what?"

Mariya looked worried.

"You mean… merge?"

The warrior explained calmly.

"Only by combining our powers… can we unlock the true strength of the Ice Guardian."

The air became heavy.

Aarav looked down at his spear.

He was silent.

This decision was not easy.

If they merged…

What would happen to him?

Would he disappear?

Would he change?

Mariya stepped closer to him.

"You don't have to decide right now."

Ran added,

"Yeah… we'll handle Victor first."

But the Ice Warrior shook his head.

"There is no time."

Suddenly—

The ground trembled again.

A deep dark energy spread through the mountain.

The snowstorm turned violent.

The sky darkened unnaturally.

Mariya gasped.

"This energy…!"

The Ice Warrior's eyes sharpened.

"He's already inside the temple."

Ran grabbed his sword.

"Then we're going now."

Aarav lifted his spear.

His hesitation was gone.

"I'm ready."

The Ice Warrior stepped forward.

"Then follow me."

The wind howled louder.

The storm opened a path through the mountains.

And far in the distance—

The glowing Ice Temple waited.

But this time—

Its blue light had turned darker.

Something inside it had already begun to change.

The real battle was about to begin.

Into the Ice Temple

The storm opened a narrow path through the mountains.

It was as if the Frozen World itself was guiding them.

Ran, Mariya, Aarav… and the Ice Warrior moved quickly across the icy ridge.

The wind howled behind them, but strangely—

The path ahead remained clear.

Mariya looked at the Ice Warrior.

"You're controlling the storm… aren't you?"

He didn't look back.

"Yes."

"This mountain listens to the true guardian."

Ran smirked slightly.

"Useful power."

But his expression quickly turned serious again.

"Let's just hope we're not too late."

As they moved closer—

The Ice Temple grew larger and larger before their eyes.

It was even more massive than it had looked from a distance.

Gigantic frozen pillars rose into the sky.

Ancient symbols glowed faintly across the walls.

The entrance stood open.

Dark.

Silent.

Waiting.

Aarav stopped for a moment.

"This place… feels different now."

The Ice Warrior nodded.

"Because it's no longer pure."

Mariya felt it too.

The energy around the temple had changed.

Before, it was calm… ancient… peaceful.

Now—

It felt unstable.

Disturbed.

Corrupted.

Ran stepped forward.

"Then let's fix it."

They entered the Ice Temple.

The moment they crossed the entrance—

A deep echo filled the air.

The doors behind them slowly closed.

BOOOOM!

Mariya turned quickly.

"We're locked in."

The Ice Warrior spoke calmly.

"This is the temple's way."

"No one leaves until the trial is complete."

Ran sighed.

"Great… another test."

The inside of the temple was breathtaking.

Walls made of crystal-clear ice reflected blue light in every direction.

The floor looked like frozen glass.

Ancient carvings covered every surface.

Each one told a story.

Warriors.

Guardians.

Battles.

And a powerful energy flowing through everything.

But something was wrong.

Dark cracks spread across parts of the walls.

Black energy moved slowly like veins inside the ice.

Mariya touched one of the walls.

The moment her fingers brushed it—

A whisper echoed in her mind.

"Help… us…"

She quickly pulled her hand back.

"These spirits… they're in pain."

Aarav looked around carefully.

"Victor's energy is spreading."

Suddenly—

CLICK.

A sharp sound echoed beneath their feet.

Ran looked down.

The floor beneath them began to glow.

Ancient symbols lit up one by one.

The Ice Warrior stepped forward quickly.

"First trial."

The entire hall began to shift.

Walls moved.

Ice pillars rotated.

The ground split into multiple paths.

Within seconds—

The single hall turned into a maze.

Ran laughed lightly.

"Of course it's a maze."

Mariya looked around nervously.

"How do we get through this?"

The Ice Warrior pointed ahead.

"Follow the energy."

Aarav closed his eyes.

He focused deeply.

"I can feel it…"

"There's a strong source of power ahead."

Ran nodded.

"Then we go straight."

But the moment they took a step—

The ground beneath them cracked.

CRACK!

Ice spikes shot upward.

They jumped back instantly.

More traps activated.

Blades of ice moved across the walls.

Frozen arrows shot from hidden openings.

The temple itself was attacking them.

Mariya raised her hands.

Wind energy formed a protective barrier.

The arrows shattered against it.

"We can't just walk through!"

The Ice Warrior moved forward calmly.

He walked directly into the traps.

Ran shouted,

"Hey! Are you crazy?!"

But something strange happened.

The traps… stopped.

The ice blades froze in place.

The arrows halted mid-air.

The path became clear.

The Ice Warrior turned back slightly.

"The temple recognizes me."

Aarav followed him.

The traps did not react to him either.

Mariya looked surprised.

"It recognizes both of you…"

Ran smirked.

"Guess I'm the only outsider here."

He carefully followed behind them.

Step by step—

They moved deeper into the temple.

The maze slowly opened into a larger chamber.

At the center of the room—

A glowing structure stood.

A massive crystal formation.

Pulsing with blue energy.

But it wasn't stable.

Dark energy wrapped around it like chains.

Mariya whispered,

"This must be the temple core…"

The Ice Warrior shook his head.

"No."

"This is only the outer core."

"Victor is deeper inside."

Suddenly—

The crystal pulsed violently.

Dark energy exploded outward.

The entire chamber shook.

From the shadows—

Figures began to appear.

Floating forms made of ice and darkness.

Corrupted spirits.

Their eyes glowed with unnatural light.

They slowly surrounded the group.

Aarav raised his spear.

"They've been taken over…"

Mariya stepped forward.

Her crystal began glowing again.

"I'll try to free them."

But before she could act—

One of the spirits screamed.

Then charged toward them.

Ran pulled out his sword.

"Looks like talking won't work."

The real battle inside the temple had begun.

The Awakening of Ice Power

The chamber trembled as the corrupted spirits surrounded them.

Cold energy filled the air like a suffocating pressure.

The glowing crystal at the center pulsed violently—

As if it was crying for help.

Ran stepped forward, raising his sword.

"Guess this is where things get serious."

The first corrupted spirit screamed.

Its voice echoed unnaturally through the chamber.

Then it charged.

Ran moved instantly.

SLASH!

His blade cut through the air, striking the spirit.

For a moment—

The spirit flickered.

But instead of disappearing—

It reformed.

Dark energy pulled it back together.

Ran frowned.

"Great… they regenerate."

More spirits rushed forward.

Aarav jumped into action.

His ice spear glowed brightly.

He spun it with incredible speed.

"Frost Break!"

CRASH!

A wave of icy energy blasted outward.

Several spirits froze mid-air.

But within seconds—

Dark cracks spread across them.

They broke free again.

Aarav gritted his teeth.

"They won't stop like this!"

Mariya stepped forward.

Her crystal began glowing intensely.

She could feel their pain.

These were not enemies by choice.

They were being controlled.

"I'll try to purify them!"

She raised her hands.

Wind energy began swirling around her.

But this time—

It was different.

Colder.

Sharper.

Mixed with the energy of the Ice Temple itself.

The Ice Warrior noticed immediately.

"Your power…"

"It's evolving."

Mariya closed her eyes.

She focused deeply.

The wind slowed.

The cold around her condensed.

Her crystal shined brighter than ever before.

"I can feel it…"

"The Ice Temple… is responding to me."

Suddenly—

A soft blue light surrounded her.

Snowflakes formed in the air around her.

Not from the storm—

But from her own energy.

She opened her eyes.

They glowed faintly with blue light.

"Wind… and Ice…"

She whispered.

"I can use both."

The corrupted spirits attacked again.

But this time—

Mariya stepped forward calmly.

She raised her hand.

"Frost Wind… Release!"

WHOOSH!

A wave of freezing wind blasted across the chamber.

The spirits were caught in it.

Instead of shattering—

The dark energy around them began to fade.

One by one—

Their forms turned pure again.

Their glowing eyes softened.

The corrupted spirits were being freed.

Ran smiled.

"Now that's useful!"

But suddenly—

The entire chamber shook violently.

BOOOOOM!

Dark energy exploded from deeper within the temple.

The crystal in the center cracked further.

The Ice Warrior's expression turned serious.

"He's here."

A shadow slowly appeared at the far end of the chamber.

The air itself grew heavy.

Cold… and dark.

Footsteps echoed.

Slow.

Confident.

Then—

He stepped into the light.

Victor.

His eyes glowed with dark energy.

A faint smile appeared on his face.

"So… you made it."

Ran pointed his sword toward him.

"End of the line, Victor."

Victor chuckled softly.

"You're too late."

He raised his hand.

Dark energy spread across the chamber.

The purified spirits trembled again.

Mariya stepped forward.

"No!"

Victor looked at her.

"Interesting… you've grown stronger."

The Ice Warrior stepped ahead.

"This ends now."

Victor smiled wider.

"No… this is just the beginning."

Suddenly—

A powerful force pulled both Aaravs forward.

They were dragged toward the central crystal.

Mariya shouted,

"What's happening?!"

The Ice Warrior spoke quickly.

"The temple is forcing the merge!"

The two Aaravs looked at each other.

No more hesitation.

No more doubt.

The moment had come.

Aarav (the fragment) nodded.

"Let's finish this… together."

The Ice Warrior smiled slightly.

"Yes."

Light exploded from the crystal.

Blue energy surrounded both of them.

Their forms began merging.

Power surged through the chamber.

Ran shielded his eyes.

"That's insane…"

Victor stepped back slightly.

For the first time—

Even he looked cautious.

The light grew brighter.

Stronger.

And then—

BOOOOM!

A massive explosion of icy energy filled the chamber.

When the light faded—

Only one figure remained.

The true Ice Guardian.

His armor shined brighter than before.

His spear radiated immense power.

His presence felt overwhelming.

He opened his eyes.

They glowed with pure ice energy.

Victor smirked.

"Now this… is interesting."

The Ice Guardian raised his spear.

"Your end begins now."

The final battle inside the Ice Temple had begun.
