Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: quite odd

Eres looked as the boiled vegetable stirred with the water, she moved to sit on the sofa. Pop was laying down on the floor while mom was on the sofa playing with her feet.

"It's quite hot today." Eres said as she looked at pop, and pop only grunted.

She served the soup of vegetable, she ate with her spoon while pop and mom savagely ate again.

Long haired, that's how they were, Eres herself had wild long brown hair the same as pop and mom, and they all had green eyes. They looked so much alike that one would have thought that they were the product of an experiment.

Eres stretched herself as she hit the ground with the spade. This time no hunter did pass by. She looked at the scyth in her hand and cut down the wheat and harvested the vegetable. Eres sat down on the ground. There were homes ahead like hers, only componed of two rooms or sometime only one. It was equivalent to one.

Eres wasn't much of a fan of history, but what she did know was that all of this was because of the hunter and the awakened althought she didn't know how they would be the cause of all of this. As a nineteen years old who has finished school one year ago, she didn't explore most of the world yet, the only place she knew was her parents home and this city.

She looked ahead where the tower was. "It seem like the world has decided otherwise by coming by itself." She smiled.

Eres walked on the street of the city the ground was concrete and there were mix of people walking by of different origin.

She stopped at the cinema place that she has been in yesterday. She crossed her arms as she leaned on the wall. "I didn't even end up watching the movie, yesterday." She sneaked a glance in and could see the same clerk out there. Eres sure did not notice it yesterday but that clerk sure had one of the happiest face when she saw Eres coming out of the cinema room alone earlier before even the movie had ended.

Eres walked away as she just wandered around the city looking around and not even bothering to politely look away first when she met people eyes in her wild spry of staring around.

Eres noticed that people of the city were also confused as to why the tower was here in the first place, and before she know it she was before the tower. The gard noticing her dragged her in.

And she didn't even move a bit or complain at all, just waiting for the action to be completed. "Are you an awakened?" After wiping their hand with a tissue the gard asked.

"I am not sure." Eres said with the same monotony in her voice. "An awakening assessment then. The fee will be one hundred dollars." The guard continued in an unbothered tone.

Eres glanced at the office lady who was behind the desk. She made her back smaller that only her hair were visible.

"I do not have a hundred dollars." Eres said and the eyes of the guard began to bulge. "Here, I suppose this will do." A man with a coat on and the hint of two daggers at their waist, deposited a buck of money to the guards hand.

Eres rolled her eyes and crossed her arms she looked as the stranger began to discuss with the lady that was hidden behind her desk. Eres clenched her fist. "Just who are you?" Eres looked at the back of the man he had already finished talking and was now facing her.

"You don't remember me?" He pointed at himself incredulously. He took his phone dialed a number and then called. Eres looked at the number that was calling her and then back at the man.

"I see, you are that guy." Eres muttered to herself.

He narrowed his eyes. "My name is Louis Clave."

"The name is Eres Glove. And why are you narrowing down your eyes? It makes you look creepy."

"I just find it odd that you accepted that we go watch movie together even thought I didn't give you my name." He said, and Eres noticed a slight bit of amusement in his tone.

"I didn't give you my name as well, so why did you approach me at all?" Eres said and they both feel into a silence both staring at each other.

"So, I already paid for your awakening test." He said curtly, knowing fully well that he was changing the subject.

Eres nodded. Louis Clave gave the paper to her as she read them.

She came out from the exam room and Louis Clave was sitting on one of the chair and she sat down as well.

"So this exam, huh?"

It just needed her to place her hand a sphere. She looked a him expecting some comment of his part but he said nothing. Eres looked at the handout paper that was handed to her.

[Name: Eres Glove

Ability: Chaos manipulation]

Eres scratched her head. "Spending one hundred dollars only for two lines. That is immensely wasteful. It's like those personality test. Gosh, the world is full of scammer nowadays." Eres said as she yawned. She got up to leave. "See you." She said before she disappeared of the waiting room.

The guard's, with the olive blond hair, back was as straigth as when she first saw him, his eyes were fixed ahead, the perfect anatomical position. On this hot day maintaining such a position for so long.

Eres passed by him and finally left the building.

Eres watched as the vegetable stirred into the water as she looked at her pop and mom. She got up and then served the soup of vegetables. She ate with her spoon while her pop and mom ate yet again savagely, there was a sort of mechanical automation in how Eres ate as thought she was thinking of something else.
