Chapter 33 - Chapter 33: War with the Hand

Leaving the hospital, Harry immediately returned to his home's secret laboratory.

This was where the goblin glider, Green Goblin Enhancer, and Green Goblin armor had once been kept.

These three items were originally a set, with the Green Goblin Enhancer being the key; an ordinary person's physique could not handle the other two pieces of equipment.

But now, the Green Goblin armor had a better replacement, and the goblin glider had also been improved; the only thing left to upgrade was the Green Goblin Enhancer.

It was a pity that the Osborn Group in this World didn't have too many good things. Harry remembered that in The Amazing Spider-Man movies, the Osborn Group had a lot of good equipment, like the Rhino armor and Vulture wings.

Fortunately, Harry was cheating; he would only get better things.

Walking past these collections, Harry walked to the secret warehouse of the secret laboratory.

Harry had Lening scan the area, forcibly opened the warehouse door, and found the secret safe inside the secret warehouse of the secret laboratory.

Good grief, is this a standard-issue villain treasure vault?

Fortunately, there were no more secret hidden compartments in the secret safe, and Harry saw the fossil Norman had spoken of.

The thing in the fossil seemed to be some kind of ant, but its appearance made Harry feel very unfamiliar; it didn't look like a creature from the current generation—it was too big.

Next to the fossil were Norman's research materials.

"The insect in the fossil is far larger than modern insects. Clearly, this is an unrecorded ancient insect."

"According to my research, the insect in the fossil is not completely dead—or rather, some cells still retain vitality. This is simply a miracle!"

"Inside the insect cells, I discovered a peculiar RNA virus. I suspect that it is this RNA virus that allowed these cells to gain an incredibly long lifespan and vitality."

"I injected this virus into animals. The test subjects' physical fitness was greatly enhanced, but they became extremely violent, and their reaction to external stimuli dropped sharply."

"It was as if they had turned into living dead."

"So I began to think, perhaps I could use this RNA virus as a blueprint to create a brand new human enhancement technology."

"Ultimately, I decided to name this virus the Progenitor Virus, and began my research."

What the hell!

[Anomaly discovered: Progenitor Virus (from the Resident Evil series)]

[Destroy the virus sample to obtain a biological technology reward!]

Harry was stunned.

This was a situation he had never expected. He knew he might have stumbled upon a Green Goblin origin he had never seen before.

But he hadn't expected it to have any connection to the Progenitor Virus from Resident Evil—after all, these were things separated by several dimensions.

However, judging by the system's description, it seemed the system also felt that the appearance of this thing affected the style of the World.

Harry didn't hesitate and immediately instructed Lening to break into the container sealing the fossil.

Violent electric currents filled the storage locker. This intense and continuous electric shock even caused plasma to appear in the cabinet.

No virus could survive in this environment.

[Progenitor Virus destroyed.]

[Reward: Activity Enhancer]

Harry quickly looked up this agent. It could be directly injected, could extend the maximum lifespan of the first-time injector, or be used as a cell catalyst in biological modification to enhance the trait changes of biological organisms.

Simply put, it had a wide range of applications, and the effect of extending the maximum lifespan of the injector was just too tempting.

Harry felt a bit strange, as if a pie had fallen from the sky.

But since he could find the "Progenitor Virus," something whose style didn't quite harmonize with this World, he figured he would have the chance to see other things in the future.

And since this thing was the Progenitor Virus, it was more likely that Norman's illness was still a genetic disease.

This thing might look like it could help with Norman's condition, but Harry didn't hold out much hope for it.

He should go and make other preparations.

Dr. Connors' research might not necessarily be effective. Even in The Amazing Spider-Man movie, judging by Peter's attitude, this method didn't seem absolutely effective.

If the reliability of this technology was 30%, then there was something that, in Harry's view, had a reliability of over 90%.

That was the dragon bone of the Hand.

Just as Harry walked out of the secret laboratory, his phone rang.

"Mr. Osborn, it seems your father has run into some trouble." The person calling was a woman, and she sounded quite old.

"Who are you?" Harry frowned.

"Who we are is not important; what's important is that we have a way to cure your father."

Harry understood immediately.

Speak of the Hand, and the Hand calls immediately.

And the method they mentioned for curing Norman was indeed real.

The Hand possessed a peculiar resource, which was the dragon bone. Using the dragon bone, they could grant immortality—the effect was far more outrageous than the Activity Enhancer Harry had just obtained.

The most critical thing was that the Activity Enhancer was a piece of scientific technology, but the dragon bone could resurrect people; this was in the realm of metaphysics.

And the so-called method to cure Norman was to let Norman die once, and then resurrect him with a secret medicine.

Relying on this method, the Hand controlled many big shots to work for them. It seemed they had set their sights on the Osborn Group this time.

But Harry didn't want to be blackmailed. To save his father, he was willing to do many things.

But that did not include yielding, and he had no need to yield.

"Alexandra? You used the same method to control Harold of the Rand Corporation, and then had him control the Rand Corporation to act as a cover for your drug trade."

Harry would not let this become his handle.

He had many cards he could play; he had even sent Kingpin to prison. The only thing the Hand needed to do was to obediently Hand over the secret medicine, and in that case, Harry wouldn't mind giving them a way out.

Just like Madam Gao who left New York.

There was silence on the other end of the phone for a moment, then she said:

"It seems you know us very well. So, what is your answer?"

"Yeah, and I also know your base in New York is the Midland Circle Financial Building. The rest of you are called Sowande, Murakami, and Bakuto, and your goal is the dragon bone buried beneath Manhattan."

"I also know you don't have the Black Sky right now. If I wanted to, a power armor company would storm your base tomorrow."

"You revere ancient, primitive dueling methods, while I, I like modern warfare. You send the item over and get lost, or we go to war. It's that simple."

Harry clearly heard the woman on the other end of the phone breathing heavily, but Harry didn't care.

He preferred to do things through legal means because this World was rampant with superheroes. In a sense, they would all become Harry's employees in the future, and he needed to take care of his employees' feelings.

But for an organization like the Hand, it was best if they knew what was good for them.

"You wet-behind-the-ears brat, do you think we can't do anything about you?" The leader of the Hand's tone turned cold.

"I know you have the magical abilities bestowed upon you by the dragon bone, but I also know you can't withstand bullets and explosives."

"War, or leave your stuff and get lost. You choose."

Harry's words seemed to have magic; Alexandra on the other end of the phone had only one voice in her head:

War!

"You want war? Kid, then you've got it."

Boom!
