Chapter 101 - Chapter 101: The Reversal Begins

In the original work, Banner and Tony completed Ultron in just three days.

Harry felt that this might be one of the reasons why Ultron had such major flaws.

Since Harry had now intervened, it was impossible for this task to be rushed in three days, nor was it possible to produce another Ultron.

Moreover, Tony wasn't as extreme now, and Harry felt there was a good chance.

They needed to dismantle and study what was scanned from the Mind Stone and extract the various matrices that composed emotions; this process alone would be incredibly long, and even the data volume for a single emotional matrix was vast, exceeding the limit of what Jarvis could process.

Extracting these matrices wasn't the end of it; they also had to ensure they could convert and influence each other just like human emotions.

After extracting the matrices, they also had to consider how to fit such massive data into suitable storage and processors—that is, into the 'brain' of this new life form.

There were all sorts of problems waiting to be solved—creating Ultron seemed like child's play compared to this project.

It was foreseeable that they would spend a lot of time and energy on this, but the Mind Stone wasn't going anywhere, so they could study it slowly and didn't need to rush.

Osborn would be responsible for promoting social development, the unification of the Planet, and cultural integration during this process. In a divided World, humans would harm humans; if they wanted to ensure the new life form wouldn't make the slaughter of humans its goal after thinking, they first had to solve this problem.

The first discussion concluded. The group had tentatively broken down what needed to be done for this project and then proceeded to complete it module by module; even this simple step took a full three days.

Banner said: "This is truly crazy."

Of course it was crazy, but there were only so many ultimate goals for humanity, and giving these superheroes something to do wasn't a bad idea.

Tony agreed: "Even from my perspective—you're not wrong. But Osborn kid, you really need to study hard."

Harry scratched his head: He didn't understand much of what was discussed over the past few days, but every time someone explained something, the others would reveal an "I see" expression, which made Harry doubt his life.

He began to feel that in this World, science and technology were carved into the DNA of these characters named "super-high IQ", and the process of inventing things felt more like "I reckon".

But he also felt that he had truly been influenced, and he really needed to privately catch up on Marvel science.

Anyway, the result was gratifying; the research objectives were roughly established.

In the first phase, they still needed to create a super artificial intelligence capable of globally controlling ctOS, but the goal was management, not something like World peace.

"Finally, I have a question: why did we choose Greek mythology as the project's codename?" Banner asked.

Harry smiled, "Well, Rome conquered Greece and then took their mythology; aren't we now reverse-conquering life itself?"

It's just that those things are not as simple as mere mythology.

Tony tapped the table with his pen: "I like your take, so we are using Roman-Greek mythology."

Before the meeting adjourned, Dr. Banner asked: "Does this project need to be kept secret? I mean," Banner paused, "this project is somewhat sensitive."

The group exchanged glances and looked at Harry.

"The ultimate goal is temporarily secret; everything else doesn't matter."

"Including the artificial intelligence?" Tony also interjected.

"Including the artificial intelligence."

What is brand loyalty?

Brand loyalty refers to a consumer having a special preference for a certain brand, and thus, when continuously purchasing such products, they only recognize that brand and give up trying other brands.

And the people currently blocking the entrance of Osborn Tower should be called brand fanatics.

Rumors were everywhere that the system was originally supposed to complete its first upgrade before the Battle of New York, but because the joint investigation by the NSA and FBI wasn't finished, and because many citizens had caused damage to controlled public facilities before the battle, leading to low evacuation efficiency and various other problems.

Not only that, a significant portion of the public who had been affected and abandoned ctOS before the war regretted it.

There were even civilians who voluntarily accepted ctOS coordination to save those stubborn individuals and suffered serious injuries; this was reported as a typical case:

"Alex Murphy, a police officer, happened to be on his day off on the day of the incident, but he still put on the exoskeleton he had just bought and joined the team evacuating those people."

A reporter from WHIH Newsfront was walking down the hospital hallway, which was overcrowded.

The reporter was introducing the subject she was about to interview while walking.

"Regrettably, during the evacuation process, he was caught in the crossfire of the battle while trying to save a girl who had been separated from her parents and suffered serious injuries. Now, let us interview this heroic citizen—oh my god!"

Opening the hospital room door, the sight before her made the reporter exclaim.

Alex was completely wrapped in bandages, with only his eyes and mouth exposed.

Despite this, he still smiled kindly at the camera.

"Hello, my condition seems to have shocked you, but rest assured, I am out of danger," Alex said, feigning ease. "My mouth was only able to speak yesterday, so I might be slurring my words; please excuse me."

"Oh my god, how did you—I mean, how did you end up like this?" The reporter originally wanted to ask how he survived, but her professional instincts made her change her words in time.

"As for that question, at the time I was at an Osborn flagship store picking out a powered exoskeleton—I was among the first batch of people to pass the powered exoskeleton possession certification, oh, I was very happy at the time."

"While I was thinking about which model to buy: whether to buy a heavy-load type for doing chores or an all-terrain model for rock climbing, suddenly, all sorts of alarms went off."

"Very quickly, most people were guided by various public facilities to take shelter in the nearest civil defense facilities—"

"Then that thing appeared in the sky—the scene was truly like a dream."

"Then ctOS told me that there were still quite a few people who were not obeying the evacuation orders and were trapped on the ground, and it requested me to assist the Military in the evacuation."

"At first, I joined with a 'do or die' mentality, but later I discovered that trench-like passages had already been built outside. All I needed to do was lead the masses to evacuate under the cover of those power armor units and militia—because they hadn't followed the municipal evacuation orders and had missed the best opportunity."

"At first everything was normal; I even took out a few Aliens—the process was thrilling but safe, but later I discovered a little girl crouching in a corner on the street, so I charged out of the trench myself."

"Later, an Alien almost hit me, and the explosion turned me into what I am now—but fortunately, the girl was saved."

The reporter sighed repeatedly after hearing this.

"You are a true hero, Alex. Did the girl's family ever find her?"

Alex's expression dimmed: "At the time of the incident, her father was at the entrance of Osborn Tower, the most intense part of the battle."

"That is truly..."

The reporter didn't finish, but the story was complete enough.

And the identity of the little girl was quickly dug up: her name was Kate Bishop, the daughter of publishing tycoon Derek Bishop.

This tycoon was clearly standing on the opposite side of Osborn; before the war, he had published many books about negative news regarding ctOS, and his presence across from Osborn Tower was related to this.

Compared to the shoddy stories fabricated to attack Osborn before the Battle of New York, this story won because it was true.

And now, most of the people blocking the entrance of the New York NSA headquarters were infected by this story; many were exoskeleton owners who had participated in the rescue and had seen the tragic state during the war.

Most of them were thinking—if it wasn't for the Federation stirring up trouble beforehand, perhaps so many people wouldn't have had to die.

This conflict would sooner or later be intensified, but the situation had already reversed; Osborn would become the shield that broke the spear of official public opinion.

And then become the new official authority.
