"Wait a minute, we're talking about artificial intelligence. You might not understand; this thing is completely different from humans. In terms of capability—"
Harry said with certainty, "You're talking about AI; I'm talking about AL—artificial life."
Tony paused and continued, "I mean, if you create a super-intelligence with that mindset, then we humans—"
Harry gave Tony a strange look. "You're the expert on artificial intelligence. You tell me, does artificial intelligence necessarily mean omniscience and omnipotence? Doesn't computing require electricity? Just as humans need money, perhaps artificial intelligence needs electrical energy for transactions."
"An interesting hypothesis, but the computational efficiency of artificial intelligence is far higher than that of humans! In other words, they are stronger than humans—"
Tony was interrupted by Harry before he could finish.
"That's how it is now, but humans evolve and have great potential. We can strengthen ourselves in the process."
"Besides, you know as well as I do that most of the best materials in the World today are built with carbon as the core. It's unwise to have a blind faith in Silicon-based life."
Tony wore a "Are you serious?" expression.
Harry signaled, "I am serious."
If nothing else, it currently seemed that only "living organisms" like humans could possess psionic energy. According to some hypotheses in psionic theory, if emotions were infused into a machine through certain means, it would involve a massive amount of data. If the emotions were intense, they could even destroy the data structure of the artificial intelligence. Simply put, the emotions and feelings of life are poison to artificial intelligence.
The Mind Stone was currently in Harry's hands; he truly didn't fear any artificial intelligence.
Without the Mind Stone, the best Tony could create would be a flawed program—in fact, Ultron was just a flawed intelligent program.
What Harry wanted was clearly not artificial intelligence but artificial life, and Tony understood his meaning.
Tony stared at Harry for a long while and said, "You wouldn't be conducting some illegal and dangerous human experiments in private, would you? By the way, the Abomination is still in your hands! If you've done it, you'd better turn yourself in quickly—"
"No, I haven't."
"Don't make excuses, you definitely have—"
"I haven't." Harry pressed his hands down, signaling Tony to stop talking nonsense. "I haven't, okay?"
After a round of arguing, Harry finally won.
Everyone participating in the trials was a volunteer and was very satisfied with the experiments.
"Really not?" Tony asked again.
Harry rubbed his forehead. "Really not. Can you be serious for a moment?!"
Tony smiled and patted Harry's shoulder—on his tiptoes.
"Fine, seriously though, I want to meet the ctOS development team. Also, about your father running for President of the United States, I agree. Let's find an opportunity to discuss this further."
"You agree? Were you the one who appointed the President of the United States? You really are a narcissist."
"Thanks for the compliment. I need to go back and get some rest. Wait for my call!"
After seeing Tony off, Harry headed toward the underground Base.
This underground Base, located in the suburbs, was largely unaffected by the battle, and Aiden hadn't found any HYDRA or anyone else approaching.
Frank's family had been unable to wake up for a long time, so Harry planned to use the Mind Stone to awaken them.
"Boss, so I'm going to use this Aliens weapon to wake my family? Will it work?" Frank said, looking at the Mind Stone in Harry's hand, feeling somewhat nervous.
Harry didn't answer the question.
If even the Mind Stone can't wake your wife and children, then there's nothing I can do.
"Focus your attention on the scepter. I'm going to have you enter your wife's and son's consciousness directly. You should be the one to save your family."
This stone allowed the user to enter the minds of others. Under Harry's control, it would help Frank enter his family's thoughts.
Holding the scepter, Harry felt that the stone greatly enhanced his Sixth Sense. His thoughts seemed to turn into a kind of ammunition; he could easily project his ideas into the minds of others.
This kind of power was addictive.
"Frank, get ready." Harry used the scepter to link the consciousness of the two people who needed saving.
Frank nodded, his gaze fixed on the Mind Stone.
As he stared, he felt the World around him distort, everything collapsing into that yellow gem.
His consciousness was sucked into the stone and then projected into his family's consciousness.
Bang!
A gunshot startled Frank awake.
The surrounding World was only in black, white, and red. He had arrived at the day his family was murdered.
That day, they had agreed to meet at the park, but Frank was late.
Gangsters and a group of people wearing police uniforms were engaged in a gunfight, and his family happened to be right in the middle of both sides!
"No!"
Bullets poured onto his family like rain. The scene reminded him of an ambush he experienced in Vietnam; those people were clearly right under his nose, yet he hadn't noticed them until they opened fire!
Frank experienced the events of that day once again as his family fell.
In the next second, the World reset. Frank immediately understood what he had to do: he had to save his family in this illusion!
The gangsters' cars were parked by the roadside; they were conducting a deal there.
Frank immediately charged into the gangsters' transaction!
His extraordinary senses made the enemies' movements look like slow motion in his eyes. Frank easily snatched the firearms from their hands and then picked them off one by one—
One shot, two shots, three shots—every bullet hit its mark.
In a short while, all the gangsters were taken out by him, and the NYPD vehicles slowly came to a stop.
Just as Frank thought the problem was solved, he discovered that the people in police uniforms still raised their pistols.
His pupils dilated. His modified senses and nerves allowed him to replay every detail of the scene where his family was killed in slow motion—whether it was the people in police uniforms or the gangsters, someone from both sides had aimed and fired at his family!
Bang!
The World reset again, and there was only fury in Frank's eyes—
His family didn't die in an accident; it was a deliberate murder!
He had to wipe out everyone on both sides!
He charged into the gangsters like a wild Beast, killing everyone quickly and ruthlessly, then raised his gun at the approaching people.
If you're guilty, you die.
With bloodshot eyes, Frank pulled the trigger.
The battle ended quickly. Frank walked over to his family. His wife was clutching their two children tightly, trembling uncontrollably.
"It's okay, Maria. It's all my fault. I'll never leave you again."
Frank hugged his family tightly, and the illusion ended.
Returning to reality, Frank heard the coughing of Maria and his son, Frank—they were alive!
