Chapter 15 - “Rescue at the Marketplace”

In the entire realm of Takshak, portraits of the three of them were displayed everywhere—even inside the queen's palace.

Among those three portraits, the princess and the prince could not be recognized clearly. However, Prince Susim, who was disguised as Purva at that time, was easily recognized by every maid in the queen's palace. The maids, who were already familiar with Purva's appearance, identified him immediately upon seeing the portrait. At the same time, they felt a sense of jealousy in their hearts because of his beauty.

All the maids went to King Takshak and informed him about Purva.

When King Takshak came to know that one of them was residing in the queen's palace, he ordered his soldiers to capture her and present her in the royal court.

Following the order, the soldiers went to the queen's palace, arrested Prince Susim (in the disguise of Purva), and brought him before King Takshak in the royal court.

Seeing Prince Susim in Purva's disguise, Guru Rambh and everyone present in the court were mesmerized by his beauty. Even the king's anger subsided upon seeing Purva.

In his mind, Guru Rambh thought: "Oh God, such a beautiful woman! My disciples did nothing wrong. If only I could marry her."

At that time, Princess Ratri and Kumar were outside the Takshak realm, so they were unaware of this incident.

The king asked Purva, "Who are you? What is your name?"

"My name is Purva, Your Majesty," came the reply.

"Was it you and your companions who beheaded Guru Rambh's disciples?"

"Yes, Your Majesty."

"May we know why you did so?"

"They were behaving indecently with us, Your Majesty."

"You could have come to us for justice. Who gave you the right to punish them?"

"I apologize, Your Majesty."

"No. For such a crime, you deserve punishment, not forgiveness. However, we can reduce your punishment if you tell us the names of your two companions."

"Forgive me, Your Majesty, but I cannot reveal anything about them."

Hearing this, the king became extremely angry and shouted, "How dare you defy my orders! Soldiers, take her away!"

"Take her to the same marketplace where she and her companions beheaded Guru Rambh's disciples. There, in front of everyone, she shall be punished by being burned alive."

Prince Susim was taken to the marketplace, where all the people who had witnessed the earlier incident were present.

After some time, King Takshak also arrived, and the crowd began chanting, "Victory to King Takshak!"

Guru Rambh and other members of the court were also present.

The soldiers tied Prince Susim to a pile of wood and poured oil over him. Just as they were about to set him on fire, Kumar suddenly arrived and freed Purva.

Seeing this, the soldiers attacked Kumar and Purva. At that moment, Princess Ratri also arrived.

As soon as the soldiers saw the princess, they stepped back.

Princess Ratri took Purva and Kumar with her and began to leave. But Guru Rambh stopped her and said, "Princess, what are you doing? They are criminals of Takshak's realm, and you are taking them with you?"

Already angry with Guru Rambh, Princess Ratri immediately went near him, grabbed his neck, and threw him to the ground. She raised her sword to behead him, but King Takshak stopped her.

"Stop, Ratri! What are you doing? Do you even realize?"

With burning anger in her eyes, Ratri replied, "I know very well what I am doing. Perhaps it is you who does not realize what you are doing."

Seeing her fury, the king tried to calm the situation and said gently, "Child, calm down. We were only punishing the criminals."

"What crime, Your Majesty? Is protecting one's dignity a crime?"

"You wanted to know about her companions, didn't you? We were those companions. We ourselves beheaded them. Now tell me, what punishment will you give us?"

"You did!?"

"Yes, we did. We went to the marketplace disguised with Purva. Who else in this entire realm would have the courage to do such a thing?"

"You make every decision by consulting this hypocrite. Then why sit on the throne? Let your so-called guru take your place instead."

Despite being insulted like this, King Takshak remained silent and listened.

Princess Ratri then took both of them back to the queen's palace.

"I'm sorry, Purva. Because of us, you were about to be sentenced to death. Are you alright?"

"I am fine, Princess. But you should not have spoken to the king like that."

"Yes, Ratri, don't you think you insulted the king too much?" Kumar added. "He must have felt very hurt that you opposed him in front of everyone for a maid."

"You both are right," Ratri said. "I spoke too harshly. I don't know why I sometimes lose control of my anger. But don't worry, I will talk to my father and make things right."

Meanwhile, Guru Rambh was extremely furious at the princess's behavior. Hatred for her grew so strong in his heart that he decided to take revenge.

With this intention, he went to King Takshak's chamber and began urging him to obtain the power of the Prakash Punj as soon as possible.

King Takshak, too, was deeply hurt by Ratri's harsh words and secretly resolved to punish her.
