Chapter Fifty: The Friend Connection
The morning of their departure from Gujarat, Akshi arrived at the hotel with a suitcase that was somehow both tiny and overflowing.
"I PACKED LIGHT!" she announced. "Well, light for me. Which means only two bags. And a backpack. And a tote. But that's IT!"
Percy applauded. "THAT'S MY KIND OF LIGHT!"
Honey sighed happily. "They're bonding."
"It's beautiful," C.N. deadpanned. "And terrifying."

The drive to the airport was chaotic, as usual.
Akshi sat between Percy and Keiran, immediately becoming best friends with both.
"Keiran! Tell me about Rex! I need to know EVERYTHING!"
Keiran held Rex up seriously. "Rex is dinosaur. Rex is my best friend. Rex goes everywhere."
"Rex sounds AMAZING! Can Rex be MY friend too?"
Keiran considered this. Then nodded. "Rex says yes."
"REX IS OFFICIALLY MY FRIEND NOW! This is the BEST DAY!"
Percy high-fived her. "You've been accepted by the Rex inner circle. It's an honor."
"I'm HONORED!"

They reached the private jet, and Akshi's brain literally short-circuited.
"THIS IS YOUR PLANE? THIS WHOLE THING? JUST FOR YOU?"
"It's Keifer's plane," Jay explained. "He's rich."
"RICH RICH? LIKE MOVIE RICH?"
"Movie rich," Keifer confirmed. "With the dramatic music and everything."
Akshi walked up the stairs slowly, reverently. "I've never been on a private jet. I've never been on ANY jet! This is my first flight EVER!"
Percy gasped. "YOUR FIRST FLIGHT IS A PRIVATE JET?"
"I KNOW! I'M STARTING AT THE TOP AND NEVER COMING DOWN!"
C.N. watched them board. "This is going to be a long flight."
Rakii grinned. "The longest. And I'm documenting every second."

Inside, Akshi spun in circles. "LEATHER SEATS! A COUCH! A TV! IS THAT A BEDROOM?"
"Yes," Keifer said. "And a shower."
"A SHOWER? IN A PLANE?" She clutched her chest. "I'm going to pass out."
"Please don't," Jay laughed. "We've had enough fainting on this trip."
"I'll try! No promises!"

Once everyone was settled and the plane was in the air, Akshi pulled out her phone.
"OKAY! I have to call Shreya! She's going to DIE when she sees this plane!"
She video-called, and a face appeared on screen—similar age to Akshi, with warm eyes, a gentle smile, and the same spark of curiosity.
"AKSHI! Are you in the AIR? Is that a CLOUD behind you?"
"SHREYA! I'M ON A PRIVATE JET! A PRIVATE JET, SHREYA!"
Shreya's jaw dropped. "YOU'RE LYING!"
"I'M NOT LYING! LOOK!" Akshi panned around, showing the luxurious interior, the seats, the people. "These are my new friends! They're from the Philippines! And they have a JET!"
Shreya pressed closer to her screen. "There are so many of them!"
"I KNOW! I'll introduce you! OKAY, this is Percy—" She pointed.
Percy waved frantically. "HI SHREYA! I'M PERCY! I'M THE HANDSOME ONE!"
Shreya laughed. "He's ENERGETIC!"
"HE'S MY ENERGETIC TWIN! And this is Honey—his girlfriend who keeps him alive."
Honey waved. "Nice to meet you!"
"And this is Jay and Keifer—they're the leaders! And Keiran—he's THREE and has a dinosaur named Rex!"
Keiran held Rex up to the camera. "HI SHREYA!"
Shreya melted. "HE'S ADORABLE! THE DINOSAUR IS ADORABLE!"
"Rex says thank you!"

Akshi continued the introductions.
"This is Aries and Ella—they're the calm ones who keep everyone organized!"
Aries nodded. Ella smiled.
"This is Felix and Bridget—they're the ROMANTIC ones!"
Felix blushed. Bridget laughed.
"This is Denzel and Grace—" She pointed to a couple near the window.
Denzel, tall and easygoing, waved. "Hey!" Grace, warm and friendly, smiled brightly. In her arms was a tiny baby—Grazel, barely six months old, with chubby cheeks and curious eyes.
Shreya gasped. "A BABY! There's a BABY on the plane!"
Akshi zoomed in. "That's Grazel! She's the youngest member of the adventure squad!"
Grace held Grazel up to the camera. The baby stared at the phone, then smiled a gummy smile.
Shreya clutched her heart. "I'M IN LOVE! SHE'S PERFECT!"
Grazel cooed, as if agreeing.

Akshi continued. "And this is C.N. and Rakii—he's a GENIUS and she takes ALL the photos!"
C.N. raised an eyebrow. "I'm not—"
"You ARE! Accept it!"
He sighed. "Fine. I'm a genius."
Rakii waved. "I'll take your photo when we meet!"
Shreya was overwhelmed. "There are SO many of you! And a BABY! This is amazing!"
"Wait, there's more! This is David and Freya—he's a HISTORY NERD and she's a PEACE KEEPER!"
David waved enthusiastically. "HI SHREYA! I LOVE YOUR NAME!"
Freya smiled. "Nice to meet you."
"And this is Mica and Calix—she's CHAOS and he CONTAINS her!"
Mica laughed. "Accurate!"
Calix nodded. "Very accurate."
"And this is Yuri—he films EVERYTHING!"
Yuri aimed his camera at the phone. "Say hi to posterity, Shreya!"
"HI POSTERITY!"

Shreya was laughing now. "Akshi, how did you find these people?"
"They found ME! At the airport! With a sign! It was DESTINY!"
"It definitely sounds like destiny."
Akshi's face softened. "I'm going to see you in a few hours! We're landing in Karnataka and then YOU'RE JOINING THE ADVENTURE!"
Shreya's eyes widened. "I still can't believe this is real."
"IT'S REAL! Start packing! We're going to have the BEST TIME!"
"I'm packing RIGHT NOW!"
They said their goodbyes, and Akshi hung up, bouncing in her seat.
"SHE'S SO EXCITED! I'M SO EXCITED! EVERYONE'S EXCITED!"
Percy grabbed her hands. "EXCITED BUDDIES!"
"EXCITED BUDDIES!"

The flight passed quickly with Akshi's commentary.
She asked about everyone's lives, their relationships, their favorite parts of India so far. She played with Keiran and Rex. She made C.N. explain things (which he secretly loved). She challenged Percy to increasingly ridiculous games.
She also spent time with Grace and Grazel, utterly fascinated by the baby.
"She's so TINY! And her fingers are so TINY! Can I hold her?"
Grace laughed. "When we land, sure. She'll be awake then."
"I'm going to be the BEST babysitter! I've never babysat before, but I'm SURE I'll be amazing!"
Keiran tugged her sleeve. "Akshi, Rex wants to see baby too."
"Rex can see baby! We'll introduce them!"

By the time they began their descent, Akshi had become part of the group.
Jay leaned over to Keifer. "She fits."
"She really does." He kissed her temple. "You have a gift for collecting people."
"I learned from the best." She nodded toward the chaos. "Them."

They landed in Karnataka as the sun began to set.
The airport was smaller than the ones they'd used before, but bustling with energy.
And there, waiting at arrivals, was Shreya.
She was exactly as she'd appeared on screen—warm eyes, gentle smile, and now, bouncing with barely contained excitement.
"AKSHI!"
"SHREYA!"
They collided in a hug, spinning in circles.
"I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU'RE HERE!"
"I CAN'T BELIEVE I'M HERE!"
"You're on an ADVENTURE!"
"An ADVENTURE with NEW FRIENDS!"

Akshi grabbed Shreya's hand and pulled her toward the group.
"OKAY! Everyone! This is Shreya! My BEST FRIEND since we were TWELVE! She's from Karnataka, so she knows EVERYTHING about this state! And she's going to be our guide here!"
Shreya waved shyly. "Hi, everyone. Akshi has told me SO much about you already. I'm so excited to show you Karnataka!"
"All good things, I hope!" Percy said.
"All EXCITING things! She said you're like her energetic twin!"
Percy grabbed Akshi's shoulder. "WE ARE! ENERGETIC TWINS!"
Shreya laughed. "I can see that."

Akshi made formal introductions, going through the group one by one.
Shreya greeted each person with warmth—remembering names, asking questions, making everyone feel seen.
When she got to Keiran, she knelt down. "And you must be Keiran! And Rex!"
Keiran's eyes widened. "You know Rex?"
"Akshi told me ALL about Rex! He's famous now!"
Keiran held Rex up proudly. "Rex is happy to meet you."
Shreya shook Rex's tiny paw. "The honor is mine, Rex."

When they reached Grace and Denzel, Shreya's eyes landed on Grazel.
"Oh! OH! The baby! Akshi told me about the baby!"
Grace smiled, shifting Grazel in her arms. "This is Grazel. She's six months old."
Shreya approached slowly, reverently. "Can I... can I see her up close?"
"Of course."
Shreya peered at the tiny face. Grazel stared back with big, curious eyes. Then she smiled.
Shreya melted. "She smiled at me! SHE SMILED AT ME!"
"She likes you," Denzel said. "She doesn't smile at everyone."
"This is the BEST DAY OF MY LIFE!"
Percy patted her shoulder. "Welcome to the club. Every day with this group is the best day."

C.N. watched the interactions. "She's good with people."
Rakii nodded. "Natural connector. Like Akshi, but calmer."
"The calm to Akshi's storm."
"Perfect balance."

Jay stepped forward. "Shreya, thank you for agreeing to join us. We know this is sudden."
Shreya shook her head. "Are you kidding? This is the most exciting thing that's ever happened to me! Akshi called and I started packing IMMEDIATELY. And now I get to show you all my home state?"
"Good answer!" Percy cheered.
Honey smiled. "She definitely fits the group."
Keifer put an arm around Jay. "Another one for the chaos crew."
"The best kind of chaos."

They piled into two vans—even more crowded now, but no one minded.
Akshi and Shreya sat together, immediately deep in conversation, occasionally interrupting to ask the group questions. Shreya already had ideas—places to visit, foods to try, experiences to share.
As they drove toward their hotel, the sun set over Karnataka, painting everything gold.
Jay leaned against Keifer. "Look at them. Look at all of us."
"Chaos."
"Beautiful chaos."
"Always."
Keiran, on her lap, held Rex up to the window. "Rex says Karnataka looks nice."
"Rex is right."
Grazel, in Grace's arms, let out a happy coo.
Everyone laughed.
The adventure continued.
