"This is the choice I give you!"
Camille stared at Duke and slowly said, "So, what is your answer?"
"Do I still have a choice?"
Duke gave a bitter smile, carelessly gaining a godmother. Perhaps he shouldn't have come today. With his previous wealth, he should have tried his best to draw lots; he didn't believe he couldn't draw out the Fire Seed Source, even fragments would do!
Now it's good, not only did he get the hextech original crystal, but he can also experience long-lost maternal love!
Glancing at Camille's leg-blades, Duke swallowed, this maternal love, it's a bit too sharp!
"Then come with me now!"
Camille brought Duke to Alicia's tombstone. He was asked by Camille to kneel on one knee, right hand clenched into a fist, arm across his chest.
"I'll say a line, and you repeat after me!"
"Okay!"
"Ancestors bear witness!" Camille's expression was very solemn. Duke quietly waited for her next words. He definitely didn't need to learn this line, as his surname wasn't Ferros.
"Family above all, I shall serve faithfully, without deceit, without reservation."
Camille lowered her head. Seeing this, Duke also obediently lowered his head and repeated, as Camille had said earlier: "Family above all, I shall serve faithfully, without deceit, without reservation."
"For this oath, I shall hold nothing back, with spirit, with body, with heart."
"For this oath, I shall hold nothing back, with spirit, with body, with heart."
"That's it!"
After the brief ceremony, Camille stood up again, her hands clasped in front of her lower abdomen. She glanced at the crowd hurrying over. "Remember to take the Ancestor back!"
"Got it!"
Duke spoke unhappily. Vali looked at his unhappy father and tentatively asked, "Father, you have regained Mother 09, right?"
"What are you trying to say?"
"Then am I her grandson?"
"You don't look like much, but you dream big!"
Duke took the original crystal from Vali's hand and put it into his inventory. He relocked Alicia's coffin and waved his hand at Vali, saying, "Get to it. I need to supervise you and put our Ancestor back!"
"But Father, didn't you just say I wasn't?"
"You are now!"
Duke looked at Vali with ill intent. Vali silently lifted the coffin and carefully placed it back into the tomb. Duke leaned against a nearby tombstone and watched him: "Remember to fill the dirt back in!"
"Damn you!"
Vali muttered, and veins bulged on Duke's face: "I shouldn't have given you so much autonomy. I should take back some of your magic and make you more rigid!"
Vali shivered at the words and worked diligently.
"Sigh!"
Duke covered his face and sighed helplessly. Was it really a good thing to give Vali so much magic, allowing him to possess full intelligence?
"Perhaps this guy will someday use a wrench to repair and upgrade himself!"
Duke was amused by the thought in his mind and shook his head, saying, "I'm taking it too much for granted. His learning ability is strong, but he doesn't even have the relevant knowledge, so how could that be!"
At this moment, Camille's grand-niece, Dak'er, arrived at the graveyard. Dak'er, who had received a notification from Camille before coming here, was somewhat distraught.
Originally, she had some intentions of pulling Duke over to her side, planning to invite Duke to a dinner party through Mel. The invitation had even been prepared.
But who knew, after just a few days of not seeing each other, the other party had transformed into her uncle!
He was more than one generation older than her.
"Duke..." When Dak'er arrived, she couldn't bring herself to say the word "uncle." Duke looked at Dak'er, whose face was flushed red from holding it in, and waved his hand, "Alright, don't say that. Let's just treat each other as equals on a daily basis!"
Dak'er, relieved, looked at Vali curiously and asked, "Is this your new creation?"
"A robot with self-action capabilities?"
"To be precise, I am father's battle armor, father's weapon, father's..."
"You continue to work! When My Lord speaks, children should not interrupt!"
"Oh!" Vali obediently lowered his head and filled the soil. Dak'er's mouth dropped open. She pointed at Vali, then looked at Duke, who smiled, "Do you want one?"
"Yes, yes, yes!"
Dak'er, nodding like a pecking chick, had anticipation in her eyes. Duke walked over to her side, "You prepare the material fees yourself. I'll give you a simplified design drawing later, and you can find someone to make it!"
"Thank you, Uncle!"
"Hey!"
Duke chuckled. After Vali finished filling the soil, Duke re-equipped him and floated directly into the air. When Dak'er saw him about to leave, she offered to keep him, "I can arrange a room for you."
"No need. My boss, Colin, will definitely be furious if he finds out I snuck out in the middle of the night and returned the next day. I need to get back to the workshop before he notices!"
"Then I'll pick you up tomorrow!"
"Okay, see you tomorrow!"
"Goodbye!"
Under Dak'er's gaze, Duke quickly departed, disappearing into the night sky. Dak'er looked at her ancestor's tombstone and shook her head helplessly, "Things truly are wonderful!"
.....
Inside the Family Head's room at Blue Lavender Manor.
"What has my sister done now?"
Stevan propped a slotted spoon on the delicate rim of a teacup and carefully placed two sugar cubes. He watched with pleasure as the tea poured over, and the sugar cubes gradually dissolved and collapsed.
In front of him, a Ferros Family spy was kneeling on the carpet. The spy said in a deep voice, "It seems there's a problem at the graveyard!"
"I saw the energy halo of a Hex Crystal!" Stevan shifted his gaze from the teacup to his blanket-covered legs. "Did you find him?"
"He is already dead, but he still has a nephew!"
"Yes, after all, nearly sixty years have passed!"
Stevan looked at his disabled legs, a look of mixed emotions in his eyes. "My sister has also been my spy for over sixty years. She hasn't changed at all; she has always maintained her youthful appearance."
Stevan, whose eyes had shown longing and yearning, changed his gaze to one of jealousy and craving!
"But that should have been mine!"
"It's mine!"
The old and frail Stevan became emotional, causing him to cough repeatedly. The spy remained silent, only keeping his head bowed.
"Go, follow my plan, and don't make any mistakes!"
"Yes, My Lord!"
Not long after the spy left, Camille entered Stevan's room from the balcony. Looking at her aging brother, she picked up his teacup, sniffed it, and frowned slightly.
"Brother, eat less sugar, it's not good for your health!"
"But my sense of taste has degenerated; I need sugar to stimulate my taste buds. I'm not like you, eternally youthful and never aging, Sister!"
Watching Stevan act like a child, Camille shook her head slightly: "Alright, but you must take care of yourself!"
"I heard you made a move at the cemetery." Stevan looked at Camille, his eyes filled with inquiry. Camille, who was elegantly brewing tea, smiled and said softly: "I took in a very interesting young man as my adopted son. You'll be able to meet him tomorrow!"
"Adopted son?" Stevan snorted through his nose: "Sister, you're not like you used to be!"
"People always change, Brother." Camille leaned down to tidy Stevan's blanket, "And the Ferros Family needs new support!"
"You arrange it!" Stevan didn't even look at the tea on the table and turned the switch on his wheelchair. "I'm going to sleep."
Camille walked towards the door and said to her brother: "Good night!"
"Good night."
The lights went out, and everything plunged into darkness.
After a long while, a Whisper echoed in the darkness.
"All of this should have been mine, mine!"
....
The next day, the Ferros Family's carriage arrived at the Colin Workshop. Duke, carrying his trench coat, bid farewell to Coll and Jinx before getting into the carriage and heading to Blue Lavender Manor.
Inside the carriage, Dak'er handed Duke a file, "This is the current intelligence on Piltover, as well as the rules for being a spy. Memorize it all so you don't make mistakes at crucial moments!"
Duke quickly read through it and returned the file to Dak'er, "Finished!"
"You memorized it?"
"I memorized it all. My memory, if not photographic, is at least quick to grasp!"
"What an enviable talent." Dak'er put away the file. Duke looked at the streetscape rapidly receding outside the window, "What am I doing today?"
"Meeting the Family Head!"
"Camille's brother?" Duke recalled that Camille hadn't personally strangled her brother at this point in time, but it would be soon.
"Alright, I hope I can leave a good impression on him."
After Duke said this, he suddenly remembered something: "Oh right, I can allocate all resources, correct?"
"That's right, what do you need?"
"I need Petricite and rune steel. Do you have any now?"
"The Family's secret vault has corresponding stock, but what do you need them for?"
"I have my uses!" Duke's face lit up with a smile at the thought of adding rune steel and Petricite to his designs.
The carriage drove into Blue Lavender Manor, and Duke, who got off at one of the entrances, was led by Dak'er into the main house. After passing through long corridors and various rooms, Duke and Dak'er stopped in front of two magnificent doors.
"Grand Aunt, Grandpa, I've brought her!"
"Come in!" Camille's voice came from inside the room. Duke proactively opened the door and walked in. As soon as he entered, he saw Camille and Stevan sitting on opposite sides of the tea table. The difference was that Camille was sitting on a chair, while Stevan was in a wheelchair.
"So this is the adopted child you took in?" Stevan lifted his eyelids, sized Duke up, and snorted in dissatisfaction: "He doesn't look like much!"
Duke's smile remained unchanged, but his eyes showed contemplation.
This cheap uncle of his doesn't seem to like him very much, and with this attitude, is he preparing to make a move against Camille?
