Ch94 Shen Que, I Need to Practice My Skills

"Shen Que!"

After dinner, Meng Ci sat on the sofa, watching Shen Que wash the dishes, and called out his name.

"What is it?" Shen Que asked, puzzled.

Meng Ci stared at Shen Que's lips, swallowed hard, and, emboldened by the alcohol, started acting like a spoiled child.

"I just feel like your kissing skills are too amazing, and I know nothing about it. I'm at a bit of a disadvantage!"

Shen Que feigned confusion. "So what do you want to do about It?"

He then scratched his nose. His exceptional kissing skills were truly a natural gift-nothing he could help.

"So I need to practice more!" Meng Ci said, pulling Shen Que down to sit on the sofa before leaning in close.

Shen Que remained still, letting Meng Ci draw near.

The faint scent of alcohol mingled in their breaths, making Meng Ci feel even more intoxicated.

Closing his eyes, Meng Ci leaned in until their lips touched. Then, feeling too shy to proceed further, he hesitated.

Shen Que shifted back slightly, fixing Meng Ci with an intensely aggressive gaze.

"Is this your idea of practice?"

Meng Ci, feeling belittled, refused to back down.

"I was just building up to it." With that, he grabbed Shen Que, this time extending his tongue to lightly lick Shen Que's lips.

It felt like a kitten licking someone's hand-irresistibly ticklish.

Ultimately, Shen Que lost patience and went on the offensive.

At first, Meng Ci was lost in the moment, but gradually, he snapped back to reality.

He began to find his rhythm and countered.

The two of them fought like they were in a brawl, trading blows fiercely.

As they kissed, Meng Ci couldn't help but marvel inwardly.

Damn, kissing is more exhausting than a fight.

Finally, Meng Ci noticed the white wolf beside them, its eyes wide and innocent, staring at the two of them with pure confusion.

Meng Ci suddenly felt

embarrassed and pushed Shen Que away. Though Shen Que pulled away from Meng Ci's mouth, his head pressed against Meng Ci's shoulder.

"Meng Ci, if you dare provoke me again..."

If the situation hadn't been awkward and they hadn't been missing something crucial, Shen Que would've pinned him down right then.

Sensing Shen Que's reaction, Meng Ci cleared his throat.

How could this guy turn the tables so easily? Shen Que was the one who initiated the tongue, after all.

And he'd reacted too, hadn't he?

"Um, how about we help each other out?"

"After all, I've heard it's not good to hold things in for too long!"

With that, Meng Ci reached out.

"No need!" Shen Que grabbed Meng Ci's hand abruptly, taking several deep breaths.

"It's too late. I'll head back first.

You should get some rest too." Shen Que stood up, grabbed his cotton jacket, and strode toward the door.

Meng Ci watched Shen Que's retreating back and sighed.

He desperately wanted to shout: You don't need me, but I need you!

But afraid of scaring Shen Que away, Meng Ci held it in.

He picked up his phone. It was barely five o'clock-how could it be too late already!

To burn off his pent-up energy, Meng Ci decided to enter his spatial pocket.

It was true-vegetables grew remarkably fast in that space. Not even twenty days had passed, yet eggplants and peppers were already blooming.

Outside, any flowerpot filled with soil from the spatial pocket thrived, regardless of whether it was fertilized or not.

Meng Ci cleared another patch of land. Remembering Shen Que's space contained various beans and Chinese cabbage, he found seeds for these vegetables and planted them.

Upon exiting the space, he grabbed two fish that might have eaten human flesh to feed the white wolf.

He also took two boxes of instant noodles, ham sausages, and similar items..

The labels were all items Shen Que had left with him before, so he wasn't worried about Shen Que noticing anything amiss.

"Holy crap!"

Stepping out into the pitch-black room, Meng Ci was startled by a pair of green eyes staring straight at him.

But then he remembered wolves' eyes glow green at night, and his heart settled.

Meng Ci fumbled in the dark for the flashlight on the sofa, switched on the generator, and the room instantly brightened.

Though the white wolf couldn't speak, its eyes brimmed with confusion, as if asking where this guy had vanished to.

Meng Ci still held the two fish in his hand. He walked over, placed them in the wolf's bowl, then stroked its head.

"Don't tell anyone about what just happened, got it?"

"If you promise, these two fish are yours."

The white wolf rolled its eyes inwardly. The fish were already in the basin if it didn't eat them, was it supposed to take them back out?

But for the sake of the fish, the wolf rubbed against Meng Ci's head, signaling agreement.

Meng Ci patted the wolf's head. He hadn't expected the creature to be so clever, so he rewarded it with a sausage.

In the rabbit's burrow, Meng Ci had previously asked Duan Yan to help modify an electric blanket. Even placed farther from the stove, it wouldn't freeze the rabbit to death.

But this white wolf, with its injuries, had no suitable electric blanket to keep it warm.

Meng Ci could only add more coal to the stove, then piled the cotton coat-damaged that morning by Brother Huang and the others-over the white wolf.

Only after ensuring it wouldn't freeze did Meng Ci return to his bedroom to sleep.

When he woke the next day, Shen Que had already arrived. He stoked the stove, fed both the rabbit and the white wolf, and even cooked a pot of congee.

"Thump! Thump! Thump!"

"Squeak-"

The sound of the alarm outside mingled with the clanging of the staircase.

Could it be those residents who just returned, stirring trouble again?

Meng Ci and Shen Que immediately grabbed knives and opened the door.

They happened upon Yun Jingcen and his four companions.

The group merely nodded in acknowledgment before proceeding to the stairwell entrance.

"Hey, you two! You made it!"

As Meng Ci reached the stairwell, he spotted Zhang Mingtian wearing a black cotton coat and a fluffy hat.

Seeing both men alive, Zhang Mingtian exhaled a long sigh of relief.

"Welcome back."

Meng Ci said, then briefly explained to Yun Jingcen and the others that the two were acquaintances and not bad people. Satisfied, Yun Jingcen and his group left.

Meng Ci shut off the generator, deactivated the electric fence, and struck up a conversation with Zhang Mingtian in the hallway.

Shen Que hadn't strayed far, keeping watch in case Meng Ci encountered trouble.

"Bro, here's the cold-resistant rapeseed I brought back. Half's yours." Zhang Mingtian handed the bundle to Meng Ci.

Had Meng Ci not lent them the rubber dinghy initially, he'd likely be dead by now.

Zhang Mingtian was grateful for the favor. He hadn't brought much back this time-only this small amount of rapeseed that could be useful to Meng Ci and his group.

"Thanks," Meng Ci accepted without hesitation.

"Why did you come back? Wasn't the refugee settlement better?" Meng Ci asked curiously.

Zhang Mingtian sighed. "It was good-no worries about food or drink-but you had to work hard."

Zhang Mingtian's mother, in her sixties, could only manage light tasks, while his wife, two months pregnant, couldn't handle heavy labor for fear of miscarriage.

So in the end, Zhang Mingtian worked for food to feed three people-how could that ever be enough?

Leaving the refugee settlement now meant returning to self-reliance.
