Chapter 180: Let's Go, Time to Relocate

"Woof!"

"Oof!"

Every time the wound was touched by alcohol, Eggplant let out a low growl.

Once Shen Que was done, Eggplant limped away, looking at Shen Que with grief.

Shen Que ignored him, emptied the basin of water, and then began picking up the solar panels and battery storage units on the ground.

Fortunately, all the batteries were intact, although some solar panels were damaged.

Shen Que checked them one by one, charging the usable batteries that weren't fully charged, and set aside the damaged ones, which might still be useful for trading at the base.

By this time, flies had swarmed the bodies of Scar-boss and his men, buzzing loudly.

Eggplant was unpacking the last backpack.

Upon opening it, several square boxes tumbled out.

Thinking they were food, Eggplant sniffed them several times, but only smelled a pungent odor.

Deciding the items were useless, Eggplant pushed them into the pile of discarded things.

Seeing this, Shen Que had finished organizing the solar panels and walked over.

"These are valuable—they can be traded for a lot of meat!" Shen Que patted Eggplant's paw.

Hearing they could be traded for meat, Eggplant's eyes lit up, and he quickly moved the items to the pile of useful things.

Shen Que chuckled, got onto the RV, found a few plastic bags, and came back down to pack the items.

These men didn't carry much, but every item was scarce in the apocalypse.

For instance, the last backpack Eggplant opened was filled with a whole pack of cigarettes.

And over twenty boxes of condoms that Eggplant had discarded as useless.

These two types of items might not fetch much at official exchange points, but in private trades with wealthy people, they could indeed be bartered for a lot.

And, surprisingly, someone had carried a large bag of gold.

From various gold jewelry to small gold ornaments, and even a 500-gram gold bar, it was all there.

Shen Que couldn't understand what use carrying these things would be when it would be better to bring food instead.

Indeed, people risk their lives for wealth, just as birds seek food.

But now, all these items had become the possessions of Shen Que and Eggplant.

Afterward, Shen Que packed up the pile that Eggplant had chosen, which was actually just a pile of food, filling two large plastic bags with food.

Inside were all kinds of rat cans, luncheon meat, rice, and more.

Shen Que also rummaged through the pile of discarded items and found a diamond watch and a few flashlights.

Shen Que packed everything up.

Since he couldn't use them himself, he exchanged them for points.

After three trips back and forth, Shen Que managed to pack everything into the RV.

By the time Shen Que finished, Meng Ci was already fast asleep on the bed, so he didn't wake him.

It was past six o'clock, and the sky was growing dark. Shen Que drove away from the area.

The area was thick with the smell of blood, which could attract wild animals at night. It was safer to leave as soon as possible.

While Shen Que was searching for a suitable place to park, Meng Ci woke up, yawned, and got out of bed.

"Shen Que, where are we going now?" Meng Ci asked, leaning against the doorframe and yawning again.

"I'm not sure," Shen Que replied.

They weren't sure if another earthquake would occur, so they needed to find a flat area.

It shouldn't be too close to the woods, where wild animals might be, nor too close to the city, as the RV would attract too much attention.

So Shen Que drove around the outskirts until he finally parked the RV in front of a self-constructed house.

The area was flat and provided a clear view of the surroundings.

Within a kilometer, there were no other buildings. It was unlikely that scavengers looking for bricks, steel bars, and such would come here, making it a good temporary spot.

Shen Que and Meng Ci got out of the RV, flashlights in hand, and warily scanned their surroundings.

Qiezi, after getting out of the RV, ran further away to check the situation.

Shen Que stepped forward and kicked open the door of the three-story house. After checking every corner to ensure the house was empty, they both felt relieved.

They searched the area but only found a pile of rotten items. The house was covered in dust and reeked of decay, so they didn't stay long.

Seeing a door leading to the backyard, they pushed it open and went outside.

Behind the house, they found several large sheds. At the entrance of the sheds, they saw what appeared to be hay on the ground, with some cow-like bones hidden in the hay.

After confirming there was no danger, they felt more at ease.

Upon coming out, Meng Ci noticed some grass on the ground, though it had long since turned yellow.

It was likely that this place had been a cattle farm before the apocalypse, and the owners had grown a lot of fodder for the cows.

But because of the apocalypse, the owners must have abandoned the cows. These cows had been trapped here with no way to escape and eventually died.

Meng Ci felt regretful. If he had known there were cows here, he would have come and stored them in his space, securing a lot of beef for himself.

But since the opportunity was missed, he didn't dwell on it.

After making sure there was no one around, Meng Ci and Shen Que felt at ease.

Shen Que then drove the RV over, circled around a few times, and parked it between the self-built house and the sheds. This way, they would have cover in the front and back, making it safer.

Eggplant quickly jumped out of the vehicle, marking his territory around the area.

He then brought a cow bone back with him, gnawing on it.

Meng Ci and Shen Que thought it was too hot outside, so they filled up the tank and then returned to the RV.

They took some food from their storage and, after eating, Shen Que went to bed after handling matters all day.

Meng Ci, on the other hand, went through the items they had taken from those people earlier and was astonished.

Just the cigarettes and condoms could be traded for a lot of things.

Although Meng Ci didn't need these items, he noticed the rice from the rice cooker hadn't been packed yet, so he used the disposable containers they had bought earlier.

Since both of them had large appetites, Meng Ci packed the rice tightly.

Soon, all the rice from the five rice cookers was packed, and Meng Ci started cooking another pot.

When they first cooked, they had poured the dishes into basins, planning to pack them later.

Now, with nothing else to do, Meng Ci sat cross-legged on the floor and started dividing the food.

The next day, the two of them were woken up by Eggplant's barking again.

Meng Ci rubbed his eyes and stepped out of the bedroom and saw Eggplant barking at the door of the RV.

"Eggplant, what's the matter?"

During the night, all the other windows of the RV were covered with curtains, leaving only the two small windows on the vehicle's main door that allowed them to see outside.

As he spoke, Meng Ci walked toward the door and glanced outside and was startled by what he saw.

"Shen Que!" Meng Ci called out urgently, keeping his eyes fixed outside.

Shen Que, still with a toothbrush in his mouth, heard Meng Ci calling him and quickly came out.

"What is it?"

Meng Ci pointed outside and said, "There's a wild boar out there!"
