Chapter 203 - Chapter 203: Shen Que, You Are Shameless

Chapter 203: Shen Que, You Are Shameless

"Eggplant, what are you doing?!"

Shen Que went downstairs and saw Eggplant with both front paws on the counter, his tongue hanging out, nearly drooling.

Hearing Shen Que's voice, Eggplant only turned his head to look at him before continuing to stare at the dishes on the counter.

"Ao wu!"

Come and feed me.

Shen Que was furious. This creature had made him lose his wife, and yet it still thought about eating. No way!

Thinking of this, Shen Que put all the food back into the fridge under Eggplant's expectant gaze.

Eggplant stared at Shen Que, eyes wide with disbelief.

"Ao wu, Ao wu!"

Why are you putting it away? Give it to me!

"Humph!" Shen Que snorted coldly.

"What do you mean, 'eat'? Your mom is still angry, so we'll all go hungry."

Hearing this, Eggplant took two steps back.

His mouth opened, but no sound came out.

How can they go hungry? He was already so hungry and listless.

Shen Que, too, lay listlessly on the sofa, feeling like the world was ending without his wife by his side.

"Xiao Ci, I was wrong!"

Shen Que lay in bed, eyes closed, muttering.

Eggplant looked at the fridge, then back at Shen Que, feeling utterly innocent. Why should he suffer just because his two owners were quarreling?

Unaware that the breadworms he ate were the root of the problem.

For the sake of his own stomach, Eggplant could only trudge upstairs heavily. Sniffing at the door, he detected no sign of their owner.

It was over. The owner had stormed off, leaving them behind.

"Ao, Ao wu!"

Owner, come back! This shameless guy is going to starve us.

Eggplant looked aggrieved and lay listlessly on the ground, his eyes on the door in front of him, hoping his owner would return soon.

Inside the space, Meng Ci was unaware of the situation outside.

After inspecting his things, Meng Ci took three dishes and a soup, ate leisurely, then soaked in the bath for half an hour before leaving the space.

The Eggplant at the door immediately perked up, his ears standing tall, excited.

"Ao wu, Ao wu!"

Eggplant pressed its mouth close to the door crack and started calling out joyfully.

Meng Ci heard the sound, and images of it eating mealworms immediately popped into his mind. He stuffed earplugs into his ears and lay on the bed to sleep.

With my ears blocked, my heart remained unsettled.

Eggplant scratched at the door with its paws, but receiving no response, it could only lie pitifully at the door, hoping its master would pay attention to it and give it some food.

However, after nearly an hour, Eggplant only heard its master's breathing becoming increasingly steady.

Eggplant's eyes widened!

Its master was actually so heartless, really ignoring it!

Unable to bear the hunger any longer, Eggplant went downstairs and saw Shen Que lying on the bed, eyes closed, not knowing whether he was asleep or not.

Eggplant bit Shen Que's clothes and tugged twice, but receiving no response, it could only curl up pitifully in its nest.

For some reason, Eggplant suddenly remembered a tune its master used to hum.

Eggplant rested its head on its paws, sighing inwardly.

Forget it, forget it, sleep will make the hunger go away.

Meng Ci happily spent two days in the house without Shen Que, feeling he wouldn't be woken up by the heat at night and his butt could finally rest well.

In the end, Shen Que couldn't bear the days without Meng Ci. One night, he pried open the door.

Then, he pinned down the sleeping Meng Ci and engaged in an intense session, finally coaxing the sulking Meng Ci into forgiving him.

The next morning, Meng Ci woke up glaring at Shen Que.

"You're shameless, you're despicable!" Meng Ci angrily pounded the bed.

Shen Que held a bowl of plain porridge, sitting in front of the bed with a satisfied smile.

"Xiao Ci, eat first."

"After eating, you can scold me again, or you'll faint from hunger soon."

"I won't eat!" Meng Ci glared at Shen Que, his face flushed with anger.

Shen Que placed the bowl on the bedside table and forcefully held Meng Ci in his arms. "Xiao Ci, I was wrong!"

"I won't dare again. You can be mad at me, just don't starve yourself."

Meng Ci struggled with all his might, but his stomach betrayed him with a loud gurgling sound.

At that moment, Meng Ci dared not move any further, his face turning red, whether from embarrassment or anger, it was hard to tell.

"Xiao Ci, can you eat now?" Shen Que asked.

Seeing no response from Meng Ci, Shen Que looked at him and then at the porridge on the bedside table, directly picked up the bowl, took a sip, and forcefully blocked Meng Ci's mouth, forcing the food into his mouth.

Shen Que didn't leave but waited until Meng Ci had swallowed all the porridge before releasing him.

Meng Ci glared at Shen Que, his face even redder now. Whether from lack of air or embarrassment, it was hard to tell.

Shen Que, who was thick-skinned, took out a tissue and gently wiped the corner of Meng Ci's mouth.

"Do you want more?" Shen Que asked.

"Let me feed you."

Meng Ci looked at Shen Que's gaze, which clearly wasn't about normal feeding, so he swiftly picked up the bowl of porridge from the bedside table and downed it in one gulp.

Seeing this, Shen Que smiled and even reached out to pat Meng Ci's head.

"Xiao Ci, you're such a good boy!"

Meng Ci wriggled free from Shen Que's embrace and moved away from him.

Then, turning his back to Shen Que, he rolled his eyes. "Obedient, my foot! He was nineteen, with a mental age of twenty-five, how was that obedient?!"

Seeing that Meng Ci had eaten, Shen Que felt reassured and went downstairs.

As for Eggplant, it had already known that its master had been coaxed by the troublemaker today. So it pulled on Shen Que's pants leg, whimpering softly to indicate it wanted food.

Shen Que finally recalled the eggplant and poured the remaining porridge in the pot for it. Eggplant didn't care about the lack of meat this time and ate happily.

After Shen Que left, Meng Ci got up to lock the door but was shocked by what he saw. The sofa that had been blocking the door was moved next to the wardrobe, and the lock on the door had been removed!

Meng Ci tinkered with the door lock for a while but found it was useless now.

"Is this guy crazy?!" Meng Ci muttered.

At that moment, he saw Shen Que walking up with a cheerful smile.

Seeing Meng Ci tinkering with the door lock, Shen Que wasn't embarrassed but instead defended himself.

"This lock was too flimsy, I just gave it a light push and it opened."

"Maybe we shouldn't bother with a lock in the future."

Meng Ci was amused yet angered by Shen Que's thick skin, "Fine, no lock then."

He then turned around and lay down on the bed.

If worst comes to worst, he'd save up time, and when Shen Que got under his skin, he'd hide in his space.

Thinking about it, Shen Que breaking the door lock was obviously because he knew Meng Ci couldn't stay in his space all the time.

This guy really had ulterior motives!

Meng Ci started searching his space. Next time he kicked Shen Que out of the room, he'd find something else to block the door.

Looking around, Meng Ci thought a double-door refrigerator would be ideal.

Next time, he'd use that.
